Will Hagee Have A Rapture?

“Pray up, pack up, look up, we’re going up!” shouts John Hagee.
He’s preaching “The Rapture.” But there’s not a shred of evidence for it in the Bible.
[Clip: “Neighbors are going to be standing in the streets and they’re going to be having conversations like this: ‘I was standing here talking to Mr Jones and suddenly he started rising into the air, over the house past the tree tops, gone, Gone, GONE! He’s vanished in the clouds right before my eyes.’
“What is this earth shattering event? This earth shattering event is the literal rapture of the church of Jesus Christ. It’s going to happen in the twinkling of an eye. I’m saying to you, pray up, Pack up, LOOK up, we’re going up!” (Applause).]
But the word “rapture” and its system was actually invented as late as 1830 by the Protestant preacher, John Darby, popularized by Cyrus Scofield, and today hyped by Hal Lindsay in his dubious Late Great Planet Earth.
Hagee now gives the rapture a whole new spin. It’s “The Great Escape.”
[Clip: “Headlines will be screaming, ‘Millions Are Missing Without A Trace!’ Cars are going to be parked out here beside Loop 1604 and every highway in the world, the motors are still running, with the drivers and the occupants of the car sailing for mansions on high.”]
But does Hagee care if those driver-less cars smash into a family of five while he watches from his “mansion on high?” Hagee’s rapture turns God into a callous murderer.
Now watch him turn the “friendly skies” into a horror show.

Hagee’s ‘rapture’ is nothing less than a vendetta against all those “sinners” who don’t buy into his money-making preaching of a ‘jesus’ the apostles never taught.
Christ Himself said there’d be only ONE arising, some to everlasting life and some to everlasting damnation. And that ONE arising would be “on the last day.”
When Jesus said that there’d be one “taken” but one “left behind,” He was pointing to the coming destruction of the Temple by the Romans in 70 AD out of which “tribulation” his followers would be “taken” when fleeing to Pella beyond the Jordan, but the unbelieving Jews would be “left behind.”
St Paul then comforts the Church in Thessalonica that at Christ’s “Coming”— (not one followed by a ‘Great Tribulation’)—their loved ones who died in Christ would be first to rise, then those who remain alive.
Now, why does St Paul say “we” which are alive and “we” shall be with the Lord?
It’s to strengthen Christ’s warning that the day of His SECOND Coming, no man knows, and could happen any time, even when St Paul was still alive.
But Hagee’s fixed on “signs” of a rapture that will happen in his own time.

And I want you to know that right now Jerusalem is being built to be the glory of the ages. GAWD gets emotional about Jerusalem. From this moment forward, for the rest of our lives, until Christ comes, Jerusalem is the center of the universe.”]
Jerusalem the “center of the universe?” Then everything would revolve around the murder of God by Jews.
In Revelations, God calls Jerusalem “where Christ was crucified” and “Sodom and Egypt,” equating the Old Testament enemies of the Israel of God—The Church—with the New Testament enemies of the Church: Jews, who “crucified Christ.”
God does NOT get “emotional” over this Christ-hating Jerusalem.
But Hagee and his deluded followers do.

Who is up for a Great Disappointment, when all his heretical bruhaha is proven to be nothing more than hogwash?
He (and all protestants under his and other apostate preachers) are treading on thin ice, but Hagee (and the other holy roller types) is most definitely under the anathema in Galatians 1:8-9.
They teach another Gospel, that is worshiping Christ-hating Jews, whom Saint Paul refers to as dogs (Philippians 3:2).
This bloated apostate leads his energetic cult-like following to the Synagogue of Satan (Revelation 2:9-3:9).
In Saint John’s letters, Jews are referred to as antichrist, also the first letter of John links the passage John 8:44, when Christ refers to the Jews as “of the their father the Devil” to the entire Jewish race, not just to the ancient Pharisees as Hagee and Co. want us to believe.
The rapture heresy also relies on the older heresy of chiliasm, or “the thousand year reign of Christ.” This was popularized by many heretics and anathematized after the Second Ecumenical Council.
The Orthodox Church rightly teaches what is referred to as amillenialism, by which the 1,000 years are symbolic, referring to the current age of the Church.
The 144,000 are as discussed numerous times symbolic (the tribe of Dan is left out) for the first fruits of the New Testament Church, not a Jewish nationalist ideal as the evangelicals would try to have you think.

The first death is of our fleshly bodies. The second death is in reference to the destruction of our souls, as that will be the consequences for those names not found written in the book of life.

However, I must disagree on your latest video about the Rapture of the Church. Although I completely disagree with Hagee’s boot-licking of the Jews and Israel, I am in agreement with him about the Rapture, at least in general. Maybe not all of the histrionics, either!
The Apostle Paul was revealed a mystery (he said this at least seven times) by the Lord Jesus Christ, which was hidden since the foundation of the world.
In fact, the overarching purpose of Christ’s death on the cross for All (Christ’s earthly ministry was to the JEWS only) wasn’t revealed until Paul becoming an apostle. This mystery contains, and explains, the rapture. Sure, the word “rapture” is not in the Bible, but neither is the word Bible.
We are told to compare scripture with scripture, as the Bereans did. “Consider what I say, and God will give you understanding,” said Paul.
Compare the Rapture events with Christ’s Second coming, and you will see two completely different events happening.
I believe the Rapture will bring to an immediate end the dispensation of Grace, and usher in, but not immediately, the dispensation of Tribulation, or Wrath. “We (the Church, the Body of Christ) are not appointed unto wrath” said Paul.
Paul told us to “be ye followers of me (Paul)”, as he was the first to be saved by Grace. Who gave him this authority to say this? Was he wrong in saying that? If he was wrong, or usurped his authority, then we should completely disregard Romans through Philemon and cast it aside.

One component of the “mystery” that St Paul discloses in its myriad aspects is the same “mystery” that Christ revealed to the 12 Apostles during his sojourn on earth and subsequent sending of the Holy Spirit as displayed and played out in the Book of Acts.
That “mystery” was that the Gentiles would be partakers of the promises given to the “Israel of God,” that is, The Church.
Christ informed His 12 disciples at the very beginning of His ministry that “Many shall come from the east and west and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but the children of the Kingdom (Jews) would be cast out.”
Thus, your argument that St Paul was the ‘first” to be revealed this, is INCORRECT. Sorry about that.

St Paul makes this very clear in his Epistles to the Church in Thessalonica that Christ “delivered us from the wrath to come,” which would be Christ “coming with his holy angels in FLAMING FIRE to destroy those who are disobey the Gospel.”
As St Paul said in another place, “anyone who does not love the Lord Jesus let him be anathema.”
Your “Great Tribulation” never happened. But the “tribulation” that occured in 70 AD was predicted by Christ in the Gospels of St Matthew, chapter 24 and St Mark, 13.
The Jewish historian, Josephus, recorded the HORRORS of that “tribulation” in his “Jewish Wars.”
When Christ said (and St Peter reiterated the same in Acts 2), “the sun shall be darkened, etc.” this is apocalyptic language signifying a radical change in God’s dealings with the world.
Christ’s “coming” in apocalyptic passages most often refers to a “visitation” of His overturning of the status quo. It sometimes refers to an actual “appearance” in various forms, signs, and symbols, confirming a radical alteration of the world’s order.
Bottom Line: If you want to “prove” your rapture theory dear Dave Phillips, (you certainly did not do that by any stretch of the imagination in your comment above), you’re going to have to come up with some more cogent “comparisons” of Scripture with Scripture.
I do not give my “own” opinions (as you apparently do) with regard to the interpretation of Holy Writ, but rely on the Fathers of the Orthodox Church:
Holy men who purified their hearts so as to be competent to teach such as St John Chrysostom, St Cyril of Alexandria, St Cyril of Jerusalem, St Andrew of Crete, FOR the CORRECT interpretation of Scripture and how to “compare” Scripture with Scripture.
Nowhere do they teach a “rapture” of which teaching did not appear until 1827 via a “revelation” of the deranged Plymouth Brethren Protestant preacher John Nelson Darby, confirmed 3 years laters in another “revelation” in a feverish dream of a Protestant teen age girl.
I began my studies of the Fathers of the Orthodox Church ever since my Baptism in 1987.
I began reading the Bible from cover to cover, Old and New Testaments, in 1971 ever since I said the “sinners prayer” in a Messianic (‘Jews for Jesus’) congregation.

It was the same later (Acts 15) with regard to the question if the Gentile believers should be circumcised and be obligated to keep the law of Moses. This came about because “self-appointed teachers” misinterpreted the new polity under the New Covenant.
A Church Council was held (the FIRST Ecumenical Council to be sure) in Jerusalem to decide this question and to put forth the correct understanding of the New Covenant.
“It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us,” concluded St James, “that the Gentiles be not burden to be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment.”
St Paul taught that “God has set some in the Church, pastors, teachers, etc.”
St Paul instructed the Churches to ordain “bishops and deacons” and he laid hands on St Timothy to “guard the deposit/tradition,” that is, the correct doctrine handed down both written and verbally.
Thus, we continue to this day with the Apostolic succession of the Orthodox Church whereby “pastors and teachers” of all generations have given to us the CORRECT interpretation of Holy Writ.
The Seven Ecumenical Councils, following the first in Jerusalem, ferreted out the “errors” of men who spread their “own opinions” to the injury of the Church…and gave us the correct understanding of God in Three Persons, the Divinity of Christ, and the specifics of Christ in two natures, divine and human.
Your way of “only in the Word of God” is why the world has hundreds of Protestant sects where self-appointed “teachers” put forth that which is right IN THEIR OWN EYES.

This is my understanding of the “second death”:
Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
I personally believe the “first death”, (if I may call it that) was spent in “hell” and the “second death” is spent in the lake of fire where those who are there have no escape (no resurrection) and are “tormented day and night for ever and ever”.[see also Revelation 19:20, 20:10,15]
Before the resurrection, all the souls who had died physically went to hell. Those souls of the faith went to the upper, good part of hell- Abraham’s bosom. Those who denied the faith went to the lower, bad part of hell. (I also believe personally that even lower than the lowest part of hell was/is the lake of fire- and most probably is the molten earth’s core.)
At the sound of the last trumpet the resurrection took place and the 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel and those 144,000 souls arose and were taken to Heaven (the Kingdom of Heaven, the Kingdom of God, the holy city New Jerusalem, the tabernacle of God.)*

Since I and many others today and throughout history (Justin Martyr, St. Athanasius of Alexandria, J.S. Russell, to name a few, and maybe Martin who has posted here) believe all prophecies to have been fulfilled.
I for one believe that today when a believer dies their soul does not go to hell (the “first death”) awaiting to be resurrected from it like the saints of old did. I believe they immediately inherit God’s Kingdom and go there after their physical death occurs.
I also believe that today when a non-believer (one who has not “overcome the world”) dies physically their soul no longer goes to the lower part of hell awaiting to be judged and condemned but it goes directly to the lake of fire, “which is the second death,” and where there will be no escape from it (i.e. no resurrection from it) and will be “be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”

I grew up attending Catholic Church and when I was 16 I started attending Pentecostal type churches. Within the first weeks I didn’t buy the rapture doctrine.
The problems I saw is that rapturist teach that Christians will be taken before the tribulation, but they also teach that the church will be persecuted during the tribulation and that a Christian can not take the mark of the beast.
If all Christians are raptured, then why or how would they persecute them in the tribulation, since they’re all gone?
If Christians are all gone how can then can they take the mark of the beast?

Those who are “dead in Christ” are those who have picked up the cross and followed Him to the death (of self), therefore they are in Him and He is in them and they “rise up to meet Him in the air” (the spirit realm), functioning as an empty vessel (formed on the wheel of the potter) so that the kingdom of God can manifest here on earth as it is in heaven.
God is spirit and all thing concerning Him are spirit and truth.
How much have you died so that the risen Christ in you is alive and showing Himself to the world in and through you to the glory of God the Father? The bride, makes herself ready for the bridegroom, arrayed in white, spotless and without wrinkle.
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His.
The book of Revelation is the revealing of Jesus Christ, it is spirit.

Thanks for exposing this, but actually the people to come up with the rapture theory were the Jesuits, who used it as a counter-attack to the Reformation.
It was a way of misdirecting the protestant’s view of the Catholic church as the beast power, which is clearly revealed in Daniel and Revelation.

So this guy Hagee is telling non born-again protestants who do not believe in the Rapture to always check at the check-in desk that the flight crew are non born-again protestants, so you will not be caught out by something you don’t believe in, and therefore are not going to bother doing in the first place.
