I even believe that Jews can be lucky charms. Being friends with an old wise Jew can be quite an educational experience in life. Perhaps more instructive than anything else. Where there is much shadow, there is just as much light.

Yesterday evening I had one of those AHA experiences again, the contents of which I had known for a long time after all.
A not-so-young lady, who reprimanded me in a kiosk at the beginning of the Corona craze because I wasn’t wearing a mask, didn’t hesitate to fix me up because I had cut my hand. We both avoided each other for years, speechless, never saying hello again.
So yesterday we buried our enmity and started a new beginning. She said she had suffered so much from my disregard, and I was shocked that my appearance could have such a devastating effect. At the end of our reconciliation talk, she insisted on finally being held by me. And it felt good to hug her.
This is something that sometimes stays with us for life: speechlessness, prejudice, nasty insinuations, at work, in the family, in the neighborhood.
In all seriousness, we have “forgotten” (or better: repressed) that our closest fellow human beings are also human vulnerable beings.
An inevitable consequence of our mental, physical and social uprooting, with the consequence of no longer feeling with the heart, but only judging with the mind. And unfortunately, these judgments are mostly negative. Our entire social misery is based on this alienation from ourselves.

The only “problem” is that these pseudo-men are not men at all, because they have not yet grasped the principle of emotional and sexual independence, i.e. autonomy and self-sufficiency, mentally and emotionally at all, due to lack of personality maturity.

Someone who is attached to his car, for example, and is driven by the fear of losing it, will lose it sooner or later (e.g. through theft or accident). Someone who is attached to his house will experience burglary and fire.
It is like with rich people: they do not “wish” for wealth like poor people, but are convinced that the wealth is theirs! Therefore the wealth flows to them unceasingly.
Even if rich people would become poor, the principle of expectation is still active in them and it will take care of accumulating wealth again. Conversely, if poor people suddenly become rich (e.g. by winning the lottery), they will lose the money again within a very short time.
Buddhism is right about this when it asserts, “All the misery and suffering in this world begins with desire or craving.” If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, you may keep it, if not, you never possessed it.
Now one can legitimately ask the question, aren’t we all advantage seekers, and isn’t this advantage seeking an inseparable part of our biological nature? So aren’t believers also only advantage seekers and hope for an eternal life in heaven?
My answer is that we have to take the risk that heaven and eternal life do not exist. And still believe in the good (related to God). Nobody knows and can know what will happen then, because it exceeds our worldly horizon of imagination.
So faith is inseparable from trust (and not from calculation!).
Can I imagine that I did not exist for a non-limited time before my emergence? Of course not! No one can.
Why, if my life is only one such millisecond in eternity, I write these words now of all times?
It has a deeper meaning, and I believe, alone our existence is the proof of God.
If we truly believe with firm conviction, sheer “miraculous” things begin to happen.
We have an attitude of invincibility, knowing full well that we are physically and psychologically destructible. We see the day we have been given with gratitude.
We suddenly realize that all this that surrounds us is a wonderful inexplicable madness of gift. Negativity beads and bounces off us as if an aura of the Holy God surrounds us Himself. He is always there! He, just like his laws of nature, cannot be deceived and cheated. You cannot “trick” Him. God comes when you are ready for Him.
He likes you, even if you are often a character weakling, coward or scoundrel, but in essence a dear fellow who always reaches out to the truly needy of the world. With these eyes you go out into the world, see all the beautiful things, nature, the leaves and branches of the tree outside your window moving in the wind (just for you!).
Like a mantra, you hammer into your head, “The world loves me, people are good to me!” You have the God smile behind your eyes that “inexplicably” beams and glares at others, and they too will help you no matter what situation you find yourself in.
God obviously wants you to keep on living and learning and maturing and bringing something good, true and beautiful into this world, something to be proud of, and something to be proud of after you are gone.
Every day at least one good deed, or two or three, a greeting, an attention, a good word for people no one else pays attention to. People crave recognition like the desert craves the rain.
So use the time, remove the separation from the world and embrace it like a lover. Then it will love you back, because this is exactly what God wants and intends!

There is a very good reason why European Imperialism and Manifest Destiny are known as “The Characteristics of the Jew”.

School relents after national embarrassment
We are not up against impressive people.
You may have heard over the past day or so about a 12-year-old student who was kept from his classroom because of his Gadsden flag patch. The Gadsden flag was too dangerous for the students to see, according to the school. It had its origins in slavery.
Actually, it had its origins in the Revolutionary War. The image came out of South Carolina, and symbolized the unity of the 13 colonies. Benjamin Franklin would later use it in his famous “Join or Die” image.
Watching a school administrator explain to the mother what was wrong with the patch just reminded me of the mediocrities who generally staff these institutions.
The administrator knew nothing, but we can presume the thought process, such as it was, went something like this: people I disagree with use this symbol, and since people I disagree with are evil and probably believe in slavery, then the flag must have its origins in slavery.
It so happens that Jaiden, the seventh-grade boy, was a reader of the Tuttle Twins children’s books, and in one of the books the twins got attention for an issue by taking it to a local television station.
So, he and his mother decided to do likewise. They headed straight to the NBC affiliate, which showed no interest whatsoever.
So instead, with the help of Tuttle Twins creator Connor Boyack, they went to the alternative media, and before long tens of millions of people had become aware of the incident.
I cannot imagine the barrage of criticism that school received, and it must have been impossible to bear. Not to mention the embarrassment: to be that ignorant of such an iconic symbol of America, and yet claim to be a school — yikes.
Jaiden was ultimately allowed to attend school with the patch.
Other parents found out about the incident and reported that their school required students to remove the Gadsden flag from their phone cases.
Something tells me certain other concepts and symbols were A-OK.
Just another reminder that the schools are run by people who despise you, and who will single your kid out for treatment they’d never dish out to kids with the opposite views.

And this not as a mere dumb pious end in itself but as a living erection of His divine order. Does a falling tree make noises when no one is there to hear them? Does God exist when his organs, we, are lost? Of course not!

God does not exist as lifeless matter, rubble desert or heap, but in liveliness in the Holy Spirit. In the overcoming of our sins to a mature personality capable and receptive to love.
A life without love is not a life wanted by God, but a pre-mortal martyrdom of the soul, which robs us of our humanity. And this humanity is all that God expects and requires of us, so that we may live worthy of Him in gratitude for the life given to us, a living in honor and dignity.
The Good News is the only message that makes life worth living and distinguishes us from the animal. Even instinctual animals have souls, but to us God has given the mind, so that we, so richly endowed by Him, may planfully build a foundation of glory.

Christianity is designed to fit the shape of our souls like a tailor-made glove. It corresponded from the beginning with our deepest needs, longings and feelings of love, devotion, reverence, but also sacrifice and renunciation.
We are so trained to sin that we think of sin as a trifle. But sinning is not a trifle, it is sinning.
