My thoughts are that upon Putin’s intelligence services making him aware of an imminent direct NATO attack on Russia, or actual attacks on Russia proper with long range missiles supplied by England (which they said they will now supply), I believe that Czar Putin, The Great Holy Roman Emperor of all of Christendom, will unleash a massive military strike from Russian aircraft, ships, and subs that are swarming 20 miles off our coasts.
My belief is also that he will be sending 3 to 4 times as many missiles per critical target as necessary because he must assume that we may be able to shoot some down. However, my belief is that we will be able to shoot down NONE, or exceptionally few, meaning that the actual targets will be destroyed worse than Dresden or Nagasaki.
I think he will also destroy London at the same time and then he will ask if the remaining NATO powers want to play nice or to continue the war. I think their answer will be obvious.
This all will set the stage for the rise of the Antichrist in some staged hoax as aliens who created us and must step in to stop us from destroying ourselves.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Friday issued a direct threat against NATO after he called on Moscow to push Western defenses outside of Ukraine and across “the borders of Poland.”
Medvedev, the current deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, made several radical claims against the U.S., its NATO allies and Ukraine in a Telegram post marking the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
He repeated false talking points issued by Russian President Vladimir Putin alleging that Russian troops are fighting against neo-Nazism in Ukraine and suggested any attempts to restart peace talks will fail because of the West’s determination to weaken Moscow and “bleed” it dry.
His comments Friday coincided with Poland’s first delivery of over a dozen German-made Leopard II tanks to Ukraine, Polish Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak announced at the start a National Security Council meeting, according to Ukrinform.
President Biden met with leaders from the Bucharest 9 (B9) in Poland earlier this week to reaffirm the U.S.’s commitment to European security and to the alliance that flanks the eastern front.
Biden reminded Putin earlier this week of the principles of NATO’s Article 5 charter, which says that an attack against one NATO country will prompt a response from all 30-member nations – a warfront that Russia is unlikely to be able to handle.

Medvedev is alluding to the necessity of pushing back the Ukronatsi threat beyond the Polish borders, if necessary, in order to stop another decades-long CIA/NATO covert terrorist war against the Russian Federation, conducted with the West’s publicly announced intention of regime change and completely dismantling and dissolving Russia.
In the early months of World War II he cooperated with National Socialist Germany, but when he declared a Ukrainian independent state, which greatly disrupted Germany’s war plans in the east, his OUN partisans began attacking the German occupation.
He was arrested in 1941 and later imprisoned in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, where he spent over two years. In 1944, with Germany rapidly losing its supremacy in the war before the advancing Allies, Bandera was released, in the hope that he would organize an anti-Soviet movement in the rear of the Red Army – an offer which he claimed he refused.
In 1954, he was being coddled under the CIA wing, presented as a champion liberator with an underground OUN with deep ties embedded within Ukraine and a diaspora totalling 40 million Ukrainians.
Sometime about 1948, Bandera founded the Zakordonni Chastyny OUN (ZChOUN) (Foreign Section of the Organization of the Ukrainian Nationalists – the OUN-B still based underground in the homeland) the largest and most vocal of the Ukrainian emigre parties in the Western Zones of Germany
In the CIA declassified archives, there is a curious interview of Stepan Bandera to the Cologne German radio station given in 1954, who then styled himself as having both fighting against Soviet Russia and NS Germany. Conveniently forgotten was Bandera’s genocide of tens of thousands of ethnic Poles in West Ukraine before WWII.
Then, Bandera was living in Germany.
BANDERA: During World War II and in the first years after the War, the Ukrainian liberation fight was carried on in the form of partisan warfare of the Ukrainian Insurrection Army, in which the broad masses of the Ukrainian people participated. Since 1949, the military activity of the Ukrainian Insurrection Army has decreased.
However, its cadres have been maintained as a skeleton organization of its units for future operations. The revolutionary anti-Bolshevik fight of the Ukrainian people continues in the form of a political underground work. The task of the underground organization is to change the concealed hate toward the Russian-Bolshevik imperialism and the enslavement of non-Russian peoples living in the Soviet Union into an active resistance to Russia.

US to give $10 billion in aid to Ukraine
The US has announced that it will offer over $10 billion in assistance to Ukraine.
In a statement on Friday [today], secretary of state Antony Blinken said, “…in coordination with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Department of the Treasury, we are announcing over $10 billion in assistance, including budgetary support to the Government of Ukraine and additional energy assistance to support Ukrainians suffering from Russia’s attacks.”

Blinken said that the funds are crucial to Ukraine and ensure that the Ukrainian government can continue to meet “the critical needs of its citizens, including healthcare, education, and emergency services.”

It is instructive to compare Russia’s war aims expressed on Feb. 24, 2022 to the state of the conflict today — a year long war of attrition that Russia is slowing winning on the ground.
But what was unleashed a year ago today is far from settled and is fraught with supreme danger for all of humanity.
The West’s economic war, intended to spur Russians to overthrow their government, has failed spectacularly. The ruble did not collapse despite sanctions on the Russian central bank. Nor has the economy.
Instead an alternative economic, commercial and financial system that excludes the West is rising with China, India and Russia in the lead, and most of Asia, Africa and Latin America taking part. It is the start of the final collapse of Western colonialism. The sanctions instead backfired on the West, especially in Europe. The West is on the outside looking in.
The information war has failed across the world. Only the United States and Europe, which consider itself “the world,” believe their own “information.” Even The New York Times on Thursday recognized this.
Washington itself is split between realists who want a diplomatic solution and neoconservatives who keep “doubling down” on supporting Ukraine in the slim hope that it can win on the battlefield, without sparking a direct NATO-Russia war.
There will either be a negotiated settlement in which Ukraine loses territory; a total Russian victory; or a third world war, potentially the final war.

Seven years ago General David Petraeus and analyst Michael O’Hanlon wrote this paean to the U.S. military:
“The United States has the best military in the world today, by far. U.S. forces have few, if any, weaknesses, and in many areas—from naval warfare to precision-strike capabilities, to airpower, to intelligence and reconnaissance, to special operations—they play in a totally different league from the militaries of other countries.
“Nor is this situation likely to change anytime soon, as U.S. defense spending is three times as large as that of the United States’ closest competitor, China, and accounts for about one-third of all global military expenditures—with another third coming from U.S. allies and partners.
“Nevertheless, 15 years of war and five years of budget cuts and Washington dysfunction have taken their toll. The military is certainly neither broken nor unready for combat, but its size and resource levels are less than is advisable given the range of contemporary threats and the missions for which it has to prepare.
“No radical changes or major buildups are needed. But the trend of budget cuts should stop and indeed be modestly reversed, and defense appropriations should be handled more rationally and professionally than has been the case in recent years.”
One of the lessons that should be learned from the war in Ukraine on the anniversary of the start of Russia’s Special Military Operation is that the United States has the most expensive military in the world but is totally unprepared to fight a first world power.
During the last year we have learned that javelins, stingers and HIMARS are not game changers for Ukraine. The war in Ukraine has exposed the weakness of the U.S. and European military industrial base. NATO has lost its ability to produce essential ammunition required to sustain Ukraine’s needs in the battle and lacks stockpiles of tanks and armored vehicles that Ukraine begs for on a daily basis.
The U.S. is no longer the industrial behemoth that churned out tanks, planes, aircraft carriers, destroyers and bombs in the Second World War.
Russia, for its part, continues to steadily advance along the entire 1000-mile front (not as fast as a bunch of armchair generals want) and is inflicting massive casualties on the Ukrainian forces.
At no point since February 2022 has Ukraine been able to mount a counterattack against a numerically equal Russian force. Ukraine’s much ballyhooed offensive from last August/September was against an outnumbered group of military police and Russia managed to effect a professional tactical retreat.
The real game changer is Russia’s industrial base. Russia has the natural resources, the factories and the skilled workers to produce the weapons, vehicles, tanks and planes it needs to sustain its forces in the field.
The Biden Administration, the media and the pundits in America fail to grasp this reality. Instead they continue to repeat the lie that Russia’s economy is in tatters and drowning under the weight of U.S. sanctions.

The “National Security Industrial Complex” that has pushed the United States closer than ever toward World War III must be dismantled, former President Donald Trump says in a new 2024 campaign video.
“For decades, we’ve had the very same people, such as (Under Secretary of State) Victoria Nuland, and many others just like her, obsessed with pushing Ukraine toward NATO, not to mention the State Department support for uprisings in Ukraine,” Trump said.
Nuland has since her days as U.S. ambassador to NATO during President George W. Bush’s second term, supported NATO’s expansion all the way up to Russia’s border.
As a key national security figure in the Obama administration, Nuland was a key player in the U.S. plot at the time to overthrow Ukraine’s elected government.
Last week, Nuland said Team Biden supports Ukrainian strikes on military targets in the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula.
“Russia has turned Crimea into a massive military installation…those are legitimate targets, Ukraine is hitting them, and we are supporting that,” Nuland told the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington. “No matter what the Ukrainians decide about Crimea in terms of where they choose to fight, etcetera, Ukraine is not going to be safe unless Crimea is at a minimum demilitarized.”
In response, Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian foreign ministry, accused the U.S. of inciting Ukraine “to further escalate the war.”
“These people have been seeking confrontation for a long time, much like the case in Iraq, and other parts of the world. And now, we’re teetering on the brink of World War III and a lot of people don’t see it, but I see it. And I’ve been right about a lot of things,” Trump says in the campaign video.
“We need to clean house of all the warmongers and America Last globalists in the deep state, the Pentagon, the State Department and the National Security Industrial Complex,” Trump said.

“Over our four years in the White House, we made incredible progress in putting the ‘America Last’ contingent aside and bringing the world to peace. And now we’re going to complete the mission. The State Department, Pentagon and national security establishment will be a very different place by the end of my administration. In fact, just into my administration, it’ll be a very different place.
“And it’ll get things done just like I did four years ago. We never had it so good, will also stop the lobbyists and the big defense contractors from going in and pushing our senior military and national security officials toward conflict, only to reward them when they retire with lucrative jobs getting paid millions and millions of dollars.”
Trump said the Russia-Ukraine conflict could be ended “in 24 hours with the right leadership. At the end of my next four years the warmongers and frauds and failures of the senior ranks of our government will all be gone. And we will have a new group of competent national security officials who believe in defending America’s vital interests above all else.”

Russian journalist Igor Korotchenko claimed on state TV that the US had declared war against his country, said the Newsweek article.
The journalist slammed the White House for its support for Ukrainian strikes in the peninsula that was annexed by Russia in 2014.
The report also carried Ms Nuland’s comments on Crimea that said the US wanted the peninsula to be demilitarised and that it supported Ukrainian attacks on military targets there.
“No matter what the Ukrainians decide about Crimea in terms of where they choose to fight etcetera, Ukraine is not going to be safe unless Crimea is at a minimum, at a minimum, demilitarised,” Ms Nuland had told the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington.
“Nobody is pushing this war more than Nuland,” the outspoken Twitter chief said in his reply to Jordan Peterson.
The comments were criticised on Mr Musk’s own platform, including by some Russian users.
“Putin, for example. No?” said Russian politician and lawyer Ivan Zhdanov.
Leonid Volkov, chief of staff to Russian opposition politician Alexey Navalny, also waded into the fray. “Nobody is pushing this war but Putin,” he said.
Former Canadian diplomat and minister Chris Alexander called Mr Musk’s comments disinformation “marching orders arriving from Moscow” and called him “a truly pathetic shill”.
Louise Daphne Mensch, a British blogger and novelist, lashed out at Mr Musk “for letting fools embarrass you”.
“This morning you tweeted about how a totally FAKE ‘news article’ screenshot, no link, by one of your cronies, about the US and the WHO was ‘concerning’. Why do you let these people make an idiot out of you?” she said.
Earlier this month, Mr Musk was called out for restricting the availability of his Starlink satellite high-speed broadband service to Ukraine.
He said “we are not allowing Starlink to be used for long-range drone strikes” and later said “Starlink is meant for peaceful use only”.
After Mr Putin’s forces relentlessly targeted Ukraine’s telecommunications infrastructure with missile strikes, Kyiv started using SpaceX’s technology as a source of uninterrupted, independent and secure internet access, enabling lines of communication to remain open with its troops on the frontline of the conflict in the south and east.
It led to US secretary of state Antony Blinken to hold a conversation with Mr Musk about the use of Starlink satellite internet in Ukraine.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk polarized his followers with a tweet declaring there was “no question” that the 2014 change of government in Ukraine was a “coup.” On Saturday, the billionaire tweeted that while “the election” – presumably referring to the 2010 vote that elected Viktor Yanukovych president – was “arguably dodgy,” what followed “was indeed a coup.”
The tweet was a response to a post from user @KanekoaTheGreat that featured the front page of an article by University of Chicago Professor John Mearsheimer titled “Why the Ukraine Crisis Is The West’s Fault.”
Dating from 2014, the piece – subtitled “The Liberal Delusions That Provoked Putin” – argues that “NATO enlargement” and Western meddling in Ukrainian politics, and not “Russian aggression,” are to blame for Crimea’s accession to Russia.

While the 2010 election that installed Yanukovych as president was deemed an “impressive display” of democracy by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the West soured on the Party of Regions politician when he abandoned a 2013 economic cooperation agreement with the EU.
Massive violent protests followed, forcing Yanukovych to flee. The US’ hand in the unrest was confirmed in a leaked phone call between then-assistant US Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and US ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt in which they appeared to be plotting to overthrow Yanukovych and install Arseniy Yatsenyuk – who indeed briefly became Prime Minister following Yanukovych’s ouster.

Senior officials at the US State Department are attempting to get the country “involved in another world war” with Russia, Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar tweeted on Friday. Gosar, Twitter CEO Elon Musk, and former president Donald Trump, have all named Victoria Nuland as the most dangerous among this group in recent days.
Responding to an RT article on Musk accusing Nuland of “pushing this war” in Ukraine, Gosar declared that the billionaire “is correct.”
“Both Nuland and Blinken have a deeply rooted irrational hatred of Russia, and they seek to get the US involved in another world war,” he continued. “These are dangerous fools who can get us all killed.”
In a follow-up tweet, Gosar wrote that “as a non-soldier, Nuland is quite willing to endorse violence and war.”
The Republican lawmaker then quoted the article, which stated that Nuland had “endorsed regime change in Russia, celebrated the US’ destruction of the Nord Stream pipelines, and called for the indefinite flow of arms into Ukraine.”
As assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian Affairs in 2014, Nuland helped to orchestrate the pro-Western coup that unseated democratically elected president Viktor Yanukovich.
Nuland traveled to Kiev and promised military aid to the rioters and was recorded plotting to install a successor to Yanukovich.
As Biden’s secretary of state, Blinken has promised to keep weapons flowing into Ukraine “for as long as it takes,” and advised Kiev in December not to seek the kind of negotiated settlement that would liken to a “phony peace.”
Gosar has been a persistent critic of the Biden administration’s Ukraine policy since Russia’s military operation began a year ago on Friday.
However, although the Republican Party now controls the House of Representatives, there is little the Arizona congressman can do to change the administration’s course. A significant bipartisan majority supports continued military aid to Ukraine, with only 11 Republicans, Gosar included, sponsoring legislation that would cut funding for Kiev.
These Republicans are all allies of former president Donald Trump. In a campaign video released on Tuesday, Trump blamed the situation in Ukraine on Nuland and “others like her” in the Biden administration. Nuland, he said, was “obsessed with pushing Ukraine towards NATO,” adding that the conflict would have “never happened if I was your president.”

Four medics, all female I believe, were killed in this routine NATO/AFU war crime, ten rescue workers injured, unknown number of other victims.

The Ukrainian media published a video of how on February 23 the AFU struck an ambulance and emergency workers in the Petrovsky district of Donetsk
The footage shows a strike at an ambulance crew and several emergency rescue crews who arrived on call after the previous shelling.
As a result of the shelling, four ambulance employees were killed, and ten rescuers received explosive injuries.
The AFU saw and knew that medics and the Ministry of Emergency Situations were working on the spot, but they still dealt a fatal blow from HIMARS MRLS. The same video was 100% seen by Western curators who gave permission for the use of this type of MLRS and, allegedly, gave permission to deliver a strike.

On February 19th, the National Mall in Washington, DC saw its largest antiwar rally in 20 years. The speakers list included four former US presidential candidates and a broad and diverse collection of antiwar activists from beyond the left and right.
The aptly-named “Rage Against War Machine” rally drew thousands of attendees, however many pro-war advocates eagerly pointed out that it did not match in size some of the larger rallies against the Iraq war 20 years ago.
To that I say, “who cares”? The US mainstream media engages in war propaganda non-stop, with the only exception being Fox News’ Tucker Carlson.
So I think it’s a miracle anyone had the courage to travel to the heart of the war machine in Washington, DC to make their voices heard! We don’t need a majority to fight back – an educated and dedicated minority will do quite nicely. And we certainly had that at the rally!
As I sat in the green room waiting to speak, I had the opportunity to visit with former Democrat presidential candidates Tulsi Gabbard and Dennis Kucinich and former Green Party candidate Jill Stein.
Political commentators Jimmy Dore and Chris Hedges were there, along with many leading and well—spoken libertarians. Everyone backstage carried the same message: we must put aside our differences to build a new, broad coalition against this war!
I believe the antiwar movement is starting to catch fire both at home and overseas. The DC rally was followed by much larger antiwar rallies in Paris, Berlin, London, and elsewhere.
Several recent polls, including by Pew and AP, show that American support for Ukraine is evaporating. Even in the EU, new polls show a public turning sharply against their governments’ support for the war.
According to a recent Ipsos poll, less than half of Germans support continuing to send weapons to Ukraine. Change is in the air.
The DC rally took place in the backdrop of Seymour Hersh’s explosive investigative report demonstrating how the US government blew up the Nord Stream pipelines and the mainstream media’s desperate attempt to cover it up. The truth is coming out, and it’s even uglier than we imagined.
The US mainstream media is clearly getting nervous that its control over the narrative is also evaporating. How do we know they’re nervous? They have turned up their lies and slanders of antiwar rallies and voices.
Rachel Maddow, who fed America a steady stream of “Russiagate” lies for the past six or so years, let loose with a slanderous blue streak about the Rage Against the War Machine rally.
Literally everything Maddow said in her post-rally rant was objectively false and her mischaracterization of rally participants as “weird” was devious. She falsely claimed that the rally was full of “white supremacists,” “Proud Boys,” and “anti-vaccine conspiracy theorists.”
No one who was at the rally would have had any idea what she was talking about. But her job was not to describe the rally, it was to defame it.
What does Maddow’s hysterics about the rally show? They are nervous. It shows that the mainstream media, despite having near-total power, is afraid.
They are afraid they are losing the narrative. Good. It’s about time. Let’s hope that more Americans begin to rage! Rage against the war machine!

Where is the big Russian offensive? This is, at the moment, the million dollar question that inevitably intrudes on any discussion of the war’s current course.
It is probably not surprising (to those of us that are familiar with human nature, at least) that this question becomes a Rorschach test in which everybody sees their own prior assumptions about the Russian military.
The answers to this question do indeed vary widely. On one extreme, there are those who believe that hundreds of thousands of Russian troops are prepared to launch an enormous “big arrow” offensive at any moment. We see this both from commentators like retired US Colonel Douglas MacGregor and from some Ukrainian sources who are likely trying to foment a sense of urgency to extract more aid from the west.
On the other extreme, we have those who claim that the Russian military is so depleted that there will be no offensive at any point whatsoever. There are also some in the Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda western intelligentsia, like the Nuland Institute for the Study of War or Michael Koffman, who argue that the offensive has already begun but is so lame and weak that nobody noticed.
Okay. So either a giant offensive will happen any minute now (it might have just started while I was typing that), or it will never happen at all, or it already happened, or perhaps it’s in a state of quantum superposition in which it has both succeeded and failed, at least until we open the box.
A thorny issue indeed. There is, at the moment, a great deal of important and intense combat occurring in many different sectors of front – but what relation do these operations have to any big arrow action by the Russians? Is this an underwhelming entrée or an appetizer?
I would like to suggest an alternative to all these theories, because what the world needs most right now is more opinions.
At the moment, Russia has the initiative across the front. Ukraine’s reserves are in a tenuous state right now (especially given their politically imposed mandate to try and accumulate a force for an offensive against the land bridge to Crimea), and Russia is driving high intensity combat in important sectors right now.
These operations, I would argue, serve three different purposes at once. First and foremost, they are valuable shaping operations in their own right that have important implications for launching future operations.
Secondly, they function essentially as spoiling attacks in that they keep the burn rate at the front high and degrade Ukraine’s ability to form reserves.
As a sort of metaphor for this, there are already rumors that some of Ukraine’s new Leopard tanks will be sent into combat around Bakhmut rather than held in reserve for a future offensive. Whether the Leopard rumor is true or not, in manpower terms Ukraine continues to pump units into Bakhmut in an unconscionable waste of men.
Third and finally, all the combat in the east is occurring under an umbrella where Russia’s supply lines and ISR are robust, creating conditions where Ukraine continues to trade at abysmal loss ratios.
The synthesis of all these points is that Russia is currently driving the attrition of the Ukrainian army and denying Ukraine any chance at regaining operational initiative, while at the same time pursuing important shaping objectives.
I believe this is occurring against the backdrop of moderate, but not catastrophic organizational disorder and restructuring in the Russian armed forces, which are delaying its readiness to launch a large-scale offensive.
In other words, the current pace of Russian operations supports the overall attrition of Ukrainian manpower and implies that there is no need to rush an ambitious operation until organizational issues have been sorted out.
In the remainder of this space, I’d like to examine what these organizational considerations are and examine two of the ongoing Russian operations (the Ugledar and Kreminna axes), looking at them on a fairly granular scale. We’ll also briefly touch on the bizarre rumors of an imminent widening of the war towards Moldova.
I apologize for the time which sometimes lapses between articles, but as you will see my writing often metastasizes and these entries become much longer than I initially anticipate and may technically qualify as novellas based on word count. In any case, I hope that the volume and quality of the content may compensate for the interval, and if not the comment section is open for you to voice your displeasure and anti-Serge polemics.
Organizing an Army
For young men, fascination with war goes through distinct phases. Most of the time it begins with equipment and broad, big arrow views of battles. The sizes of the cannons on the main battle tanks of World War Two, for example, is probably a disproportionately well known fact among 8-16 year old boys. They mostly want to know about the big battles, the big movement patterns, and big guns.
Over time, however, the inescapable conclusion sets in that armies have an intensely bureaucratic backbone, and that seemingly mundane factors like unit composition, rear area logistics, and organizational charts have tremendous implications on the battlefield.
This is where those dreaded order of battle charts and unit diagrams come into play, and you inevitably have to start memorizing what the myriad little symbols mean.
Eventually, you realize that the construction of units and other organizational factors are, within reason, far more important than the minutia of the equipment and armaments, and you should have been contemplating the bureaucratic aspects the whole time, and that (tragically) the size of the cannon on the Sherman Firefly tank was not actually a particularly decisive factor in world history.
It still looks cool, for the record.
Russia is currently sorting through organizational issues which were created through the country’s unique mixed service model (which mixes contract soldiers and conscripts), and in particular the wearisome Battalion Tactical Group (BTG).

America Goes to War Constantly Without Regard for Any Real National Interest

At last week’s Rage Against the War Machine peace rally in Washington there was no shortage of speakers who denounced the Biden Administration’s hypocritical foreign policy, which essentially judges any violent action undertaken by the United States and its friends as good by definition while anything done by rivals or competitors, sometimes conveniently referred to as “enemies,” as “evil.”
In the current context of Ukraine versus Russia, where the US is engaged in proxy warfare, speakers were able to cite and compare the formidable list of America’s armed interventions worldwide since World War Two ended.
Neither Russia nor any other nation comes anywhere near the United States in terms of constant bellicosity, conflicts which hardly ever reflect any real vital national interest or imminent foreign threat.
Throw into the hopper the 800-plus US military bases scattered around the world and a growing defense budget larger than those of the next nine nations combined, including China and Russia, and the reader will obtain some idea of the real problem: the United States has become a nation that is best described as a warfare state.
That is where the tax money goes to disproportionately and the corruption it feeds produces a willingness to engage in “one more war” on the part of the coddled, protected and richly remunerated political class which in turn supports the carnage by overwhelming majorities.

A Ukrainian reserves military officer has written a very interesting twitter thread, which was subsequently picked up by a host of other analysts from DailyKos to a retired Major General in the Australian army.
It details a purported major doctrinal shift in Russian combat group structure in Ukraine, which was discovered by way of (reportedly) captured documents.
While typically, things like this are to be taken with a pinch of salt, in this case there are no obvious incentives for the UA officer to lie or make it up, seeing as how it’s not something that paints Russia in a negative light (well, they attempt to do so anyway), but in some ways the reverse.
And secondly, to the keen observer, it’s something that’s already being corroborated by actual on the ground circumstances we’re seeing as well as British intel MI6 reports—but more on that later.
So—what is the big doctrinal shift? It’s the complete replacement of the infamous ‘BTG’ or Battalion Tactical Group as a core structural component of the Russian armed forces with a new, even smaller and more focused unit termed the ‘Assault Unit’ or ‘Assault Detachment’.
Now, of course, you have to know how to parse the barely clothed propaganda and denial/cope from the UA side in order to get to the real morsels of truth. So when this anonymous ‘officer’ claims that the reason for the structural shift is the spectacular ‘failure’ of the BTG’s, in reality it only shows either his lack of strategic-depth understanding, or simple malicious intent.
As a quick contextual primer—the BTG was not created for the type of conflict that this war has transitioned into. And while Russia may have used the BTG structure in the opening—the tenor of that conflict was far different than what it is today.
In the beginning of the SMO, Russia was hardly even assaulting positions, but rather doing what in Soviet military parlance were called ‘raids’. As is always the case with American/Western exoticization of all things Russian, they deliberately created a factitious ‘mythos’ surrounding the BTG which never existed in reality, for the general purpose of later declaring it a ‘failure’ when in actuality they’ve never fundamentally understood it.
The vast majority of Western ‘experts’, completely misunderstand the purpose and origins of the “BTG”, owing to this delusional aggrandizement and mythicization. I’m going to demystify how and why the BTG was formed very succinctly for the laymen amongst us:
In very simple terms, the Russian BTG’s were really formed due to a chronic shortage of troops that could potentially constitute most brigades. Now, this isn’t a problem solely inherent to the Russian forces.
Truth is, most militaries in the world can’t really fill all their brigades completely to their absolute ‘on paper’ 100% composition. Even in Ukraine today, both sides commonly operate brigades that are 40-60% constituted.
So, in the post-Soviet era, when the Russian armed forces had been particularly gutted by budget cuts, the BTG formula allowed a system by which a brigade could be scaled down into a smaller maneuver unit that had 100% “readiness”, and was stocked with fully trained, professional (non-conscripted) soldiers.
Russia needed a basic, self-sufficient unit which could have all the same maneuvering and asset capabilities as a brigade, but have complete, guaranteed readiness, so they began to structure the armed forces around these BTG’s.
Also, in an era of more centralized corruption and lackluster command chains / OODA loops, it was better to use a unit structure which retained its own inherent capabilities.
For instance, why rely on having to phone in the central anti-air command to notify them you need help shooting down an enemy plane/UAV, in an era where such cross-unit communications were not exceptionally streamlined or efficient, when you can just have the air defense yourself under your own roof. Same goes for artillery, etc.
In floundering around this BTG concept, most ‘analysts’ gabble on about the wrong things, but omit the key central precept behind its formation: that of ‘high combat readiness’.
This translates into full manpower constitution, assured training of the unit (as opposed to having part of the unit be lesser trained conscripts, or some mishmash), and professional contract troops. In short, BTG’s were something done more out of temporary necessity than some far-flung or deeply engraved doctrinal shift or re-conceptualization.

NBC News spoke to residents during a visit this week to the peninsula that could soon be back in the center of the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.

SEVASTOPOL, Crimea — Soldiers kiss loved ones goodbye at train stations. Fighter jets circle overhead. Military vehicles bearing war-supporting Z’s on their grills power down the Tavrida Highway, a 155-mile road linking this peninsula’s main cities.
Crimea is a territory teeming with Russian forces.
Nowhere is that truer than in Sevastopol, a city that has long embodied naval might in the Russian imagination.
Fishermen watch as Russia’s Black Sea Fleet docks and sails. “Special Military Operation for the future of Russia,” a billboard declares en route to the port. Sevastopol’s “Victory” cinema now also sports a massive Z. Roads like Lenin Street are lined with red, white and blue Russian Federation flags.
This is not Russia, according to Kyiv, its Western allies and the United Nations. It was annexed by the Kremlin in 2014, with the U.N. calling on Russia to return to its “internationally recognized borders.” And following Moscow’s broader invasion launched a year ago, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has vowed Ukraine will take Crimea back.
But Praskovya Baranova, 73, speaks Russian, feels Russian and lives here.
“This is our land,” she said Monday. “We will all put on uniforms and will go to the border to defend ourselves.” Her comments echoed those of most people NBC News spoke to in Crimea this week.
While the government of President Vladimir Putin has cracked down on free speech everywhere, including in Crimea, the peninsula’s majority Russian-speaking population was considered more pro-Moscow than in other parts of Ukraine when it was annexed.
Russia says life has improved.
Modern-looking gas stations along the highway sell Coca-Cola imported from Belarus, a beverage hard to find in Moscow these days.
But Zelenskyy has said Crimea is one of the reasons he wants more powerful weapons from the United States and NATO. “Crimea is our land, our territory,” he said in January. “Give us your weapons — we will return what is ours.”
And if Ukraine does try to take the peninsula back by force as its leaders have promised, many of the 2.4 million people living here will be caught in the middle.
“He wouldn’t take it,” Ruslan Nalgiev, 36, said. “Even if there is a war here, we would still defend Sevastopol. Because, if we don’t defend our motherland, we would become slaves. No one wants to become a slave.”
Sevastopol — home to the Black Sea Fleet in Soviet times and the era of the Russian empire — might be the king on Putin’s chess board: The Russian leader may be determined to protect it at any cost, but Kyiv may now fear any peace deal that left Russia’s navy in the port would threaten its coastline for years to come.
After explosions rocked strategic sites in Crimea and Kyiv’s forces seized back the nearby southern hub of Kherson late last year, the door appeared to be open to a campaign to retake the prized peninsula. But Russian forces have regrouped and dug in.
NBC News traveled to Crimea by train from Moscow, across the Kerch Bridge that was blown up in a strategic and symbolic blow to Putin last fall. It is now fully restored but would likely be targeted again if the fight came to this peninsula.
Doubts persist, however, about whether the U.S. and other allies are willing to give Ukraine the firepower it may need for such an ambitious operation — especially given the Kremlin’s stance that Crimea represents a red line.
“The question of Crimea, and the question of what happens down the road, is something that we will come to,” White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” on Sunday. Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland recently said that “at the very least, Crimea needs to be demilitarized,” though she didn’t say how that could be done.

NBC News correspondent Keir Simmons has been placed on the Ukrainian state-linked ‘Mirotvorets’ (Peacemaker) blacklist for “crimes” against the country. The government in Kiev has also announced it was investigating the British journalist after he filed a report from Crimea on Tuesday.
“Visiting the temporarily occupied Crimea from the territory of the Russian Federation is a violation of the legislation of Ukraine,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said on Wednesday. Violators are subject to legal liability, such as being “banned from entering Ukraine for such actions,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Mirotvorets website has published a photo of Simmons and his personal details, accusing the reporter of “violating Ukraine’s sovereignty,” participating in Russian propaganda, and “attempted legalization of the occupation.”
Simmons traveled to the Crimean peninsula by train from Moscow, across the Kerch Bridge, which he described as having been “blown up in a strategic and symbolic blow” to Russia last October, but is “now fully restored.”
He then tuned in to an NBC newscast live from Sevastopol, claiming it was “the closest any US news crew has got to the Russian Black Sea Fleet in many, many years.” Speaking with NBC’s Andrea Mitchell, Simmons expressed doubt about US officials’ hopes that Crimea would be “demilitarized” or taken by Ukrainian troops.
Simmons also insinuated that Russia has somehow intimidated local residents, even though they explicitly told him otherwise.
The US government has not yet commented on Ukraine targeting a journalist from a major corporate outlet. Neither has the UK, even though Simmons is a British national.

Mirotvorets, which claims to be based in “Warsaw, Poland and Langley, Virginia” – the headquarters of the CIA – is a notorious website that posts private information of individuals labeled enemies of Ukraine without any process or trial.
It was established in August 2014, as Kiev launched its “anti-terrorist operation” against civilians in Donbass, and allegedly maintains ties with Ukrainian and Western security services.
“This kill list is maintained by the Ukrainian Ministry of Interior, which lists an address in Langley, Virginia, has an IP in Brussels,” said American political activist Jackson Hinkle, who was also added to the database on Wednesday.
Hinkle noted that Mirotvorets celebrated last year’s assassination of Russian journalist Darya Dugina, which US intelligence has reportedly blamed on sections of the Ukrainian government.

Several prominent people were killed after the site declared them public enemies, including writer and historian Oles Buzina and politician Oleg Kalashnikov.
Western media outlets mostly ignored its existence until 2016, when Mirotvorets targeted dozens of journalists and human right activists for daring to operate in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
The move drew condemnation from the OSCE, which declared it “simply unacceptable for journalists to be threatened for what they say or write.”
More recently, Mirotvorets has targeted Croatian President Zoran Milanovic, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, retired US diplomat Henry Kissinger, and rock musician Roger Waters, for deviating from the official narratives about the conflict.
The US and its allies have continued to send weapons and money to Ukraine, claiming Kiev is fighting for “democracy” and “freedom.”

EXCLUSIVE: Alexander Vindman Secretly Pitching Ukrainian Military for Millions in Defense Contracts

Documents recently obtained by Human Events show that Alexander Vindman has been pitching the government of Ukraine to obtain lucrative defense contracts.
In August 2022, Vindman, operating as CEO of Trident Support, pitched a deck on a Ukraine Weapons Systems Sustainment Center to address problems with Ukraine’s weapons management, namely readiness, repair, and maintenance.
Vindman proposed that for $12 million in initial funding, his company Trident Support would bring support closer to the front lines by providing a logistical midpoint from which equipment could be distributed.
The idea behind the proposal is that Trident Support would be a middle-man between NATO weapons and Ukrainian forces, teaching the latter how to operate and repair the equipment, while taking an exorbitant fee from Ukraine to do it.
Personnel who would be employed under the plan would be those who are “highly experienced former soldiers or contractors in Iraq and/or Afghanistan.”
The facilities to undertake this mission would be located in Poland, Slovakia, or Romania were it not possible to make that base in Ukraine.
The deck outlining the proposal was revealed along with court documents showing a dispute over payments.
Vindman testified before the House in November 2019 as part of the first impeachment inquiry into then-President Donald Trump. Vindman, who was an officer in the US Army, told the House that he listened to a call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in which Trump asked for clarification and information about the way the firing of a prosecutor was handled during the Obama administration.
Vice President Joe Biden had spoken at length about threatening Ukraine with withholding US funds unless a prosecutor, who had been looking into energy giant Burisma on whose Board of Directors his son Hunter sat. Biden bragged about the move, and later, Trump had questions about it that he wanted answered by Zelensky.
Vindman said it was “improper” of Trump to ask this, because he was asking a foreign nation to investigate a US leader, though Trump, who has said it was a “perfect” phone call, has stated that he wanted to know the extent of Biden’s involvement in Ukraine’s affairs.
Vindman wrote about overhearing the phone call at length in The Atlantic, complaining that Trump had withheld the money in the weeks prior to the call. “…the White House had abruptly put a hold on nearly $400 million in US security aid that Congress had earmarked for Ukraine.
This was money that Ukraine badly needed to fend off the continuous threat of Russian aggression. The abrupt, unexplained White House hold was baffling. Not only was it a 180-degree turn from the stated policy the entire US government supported, but it was also contrary to US national-security interests in the region,” he wrote.
“We feared that on a whim, the president might send out a barely coherent tweet or make an offhand public remark or an impulsive decision that could throw carefully crafted policy—official policy of the United States—into total disarray,” Vindman wrote at the time.
Now, of course, it’s the Biden administration that has overseen an escalation of tensions in the region and a solidifying of US interests.
Now, as Russian aggression is well underway, Vindman is seeking to access some of the more than $200 billion promised to Ukraine by the Biden administration for his own.
It was Joe and Hunter Biden’s involvement in Ukraine that Trump was attempting to get to the bottom of by asking Zelensky about the circumstances surrounding the prosecutor’s firing under VP Biden’s watch.

Vindman leads new push to send military contractors to Ukraine
The Trump impeachment figure is raising money to help with vehicle and weapons repairs on the front lines.

A group of former military officers and private donors is raising money to send Western mechanics close to the Ukrainian frontlines, where they will repair battle-damaged donated weapons and vehicles that have been flooding into the country.
Leading the group is a familiar name in American politics: Alexander Vindman.
The retired Army officer played a central role in then-President Donald Trump’s first impeachment hearings by testifying about the president’s 2019 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelenskyy. During the call, Trump pushed Zelenskyy to investigate the son of then-candidate Joe Biden, Hunter, and his business ties in the country, and was accused of using U.S. military assistance as a lever.
As a private citizen over the past year, Vindman watched the slow Russian buildup along Ukraine’s borders and, he said, became concerned about how Kyiv would support and sustain a long conflict. Vindman and his twin brother Yevgeny, also an Army officer, were born in Ukraine and immigrated to the U.S. as children.
Since the invasion last year, the Biden administration has approved hundreds of Bradley fighting vehicles, Strykers, Humvees, mobile howitzer systems and now Abrams tanks for shipment to Ukraine. But those machines must be taken from Ukraine to Poland or other NATO countries for major repairs, costing Ukrainian forces weeks as they wait for their armored vehicles to come back.
“We’ve got all sorts of resources going into depots and advanced bases in Poland, mainly, and inside Ukraine basically they’re on their own,” Vindman said in an interview. It’s something he hopes to change in the coming weeks if the money, the support and the workers can be lined up.
Right now, for minor repairs and basic maintenance, Ukrainian troops can call American troops on standby in Poland who can walk the Ukrainians through repairs via secure telephone and video links, a process the Pentagon says is working well.
But it’s not a panacea for all the problems, with battle damage and wear and tear as howitzers and vehicles are ridden to their breaking points in hard combat. The government in Kyiv has welcomed virtually all Western help, and with the new influx of more advanced equipment just before what is expected to be another spring and summer of brutal fighting, the experienced hands close to the front could help keep that equipment in the fight.
Vindman’s group has secured enough private funding to launch a pilot project in March, and has some backing from at least one company, which declined to be named but confirmed to POLITICO their interest in getting parts and material to Ukraine for more rapid repairs.
The plan is to find 100 to 200 experienced contractors who would travel to Ukraine and embed themselves with small units near the front lines. Under the project, called Trident Support, those contractors would in turn teach the Ukrainian troops how to fix their equipment on the fly.
The Biden administration has long tried to dissuade Americans from going to Ukraine, but private efforts like this are still possible with the blessing of the Ukrainian government. There is also a pool of thousands of non-American mechanics qualified to work on U.S. and NATO equipment who could be recruited.
The presence of U.S. citizens on the ground providing military logistics support would likely be a new irritant to the Kremlin, and any injuries, deaths, or capture of Americans by Russian forces would be a black eye for the White House as it works to keep congressional support for arming Ukraine.
Yet the amount of foreign equipment pouring into the country — with more expected — means taking some risks in order to keep that machinery humming.
“There is absolutely a way to do this and secure American contractors or Western defense contractors in-country,” Vindman said. “You could do this using what we call ‘third country nationals’ where it’s not American.”
There are already a handful of contractors working on systems donated by their countries inside Ukraine, but those Polish and Czech mechanics are relatively few in number and go for short stints only.
“The biggest challenges are that the U.S. government currently is deeply reluctant to put defense contractors on the ground,” Vindman said. “That means that people are getting paid to repair stuff in Poland, but that doesn’t satisfy the warfighting capability of the Ukrainians. So this would be a kind of a policy change.”
There is no talk of trying to replicate the massive effort the U.S. ran in Iraq and Afghanistan, where at times there were more contractors fixing vehicles, cooking food and running communications systems than troops doing the fighting.
“If you’re doing this smartly, and you’re distributing five or six facilities [in Ukraine], you could do this for about 150 to 200 mechanics,” spread out at various locations across the front, Vindman said.
Part of the reason for the smaller-scale operation is the fact that any large depot with a visible manufacturing capability would be an obvious target for Russian drones and artillery. Russian strikes hit the Ukrainian manufacturing sector hard in the opening weeks of the war, particularly plants focused on the defense industry.
Another is the simple problem of throughput. Material is stacking up in Poland at repair facilities, and it’s much harder to get that equipment over the border in significant quantities on a regular basis, given the limits of trucking and rail capacity.
One employee of a non-profit organization in Ukraine who has done similar work in other conflict zones said that in Ukraine, “it’s a really complex system and the structure for tracking logistics is spread very thin right now because they’re fighting.”
“I do not see the large logistics companies that have had experience in other areas transporting stuff in and out, or really helping out on that level in Ukraine,” said the person, who requested anonymity due to ongoing contracts in Ukraine.
Doing that work inside Ukraine could save time and start the process of getting the Ukrainians up to speed on fixing equipment that the country will likely need to maintain for years to come.
“It’s complicated, but not an intractable problem,” said Ken Letcher, a retired Army colonel who specialized in logistics. The U.S. spent two decades in Iraq and Afghanistan supplying equipment across the globe and training locals to do the work for themselves.
Letcher is helping on the project, which he said is seen as “a fairly finite requirement of 12 to 18 months. At some point either after the Ukrainians are caught up on maintenance, this capability would stand down, or at some point after the war, it is then handed over.”
While some of the larger, more complicated work will still have to be done in large depots in Poland and the Czech Republic, “in the meantime the Ukrainian army needs to create such a hub in Ukraine itself,” said Mykola Bielieskov, a research fellow at Ukraine’s National Institute for Strategic Studies.
“Since we managed to create [Humvee] maintenance in Ukraine with the involvement of private funds, the next level of maintenance is something we might dare to do in future,” with other vehicles and weapons systems, he said.
Vindman, for his part, said that while the repair project is a philanthropic effort at the moment, “this may become a viable business with government support.”
“But we aren’t holding our breath or waiting for permission,” he added.

According to the news website, the project, dubbed Trident Support and scheduled to launch in March, will involve the recruitment of 100 to 200 experienced contractors, who would be deployed on the ground in Ukraine.
They are then supposed to “embed themselves with small units near the front lines” and teach Ukrainian troops to repair their equipment without the need to send it out of the country, the report says, noting that all major maintenance of Western-supplied arms currently takes place in Poland and other NATO countries.

Newly released surveillance footage appears to confirm earlier reports of a possible hate crime committed last month at an Ohio elementary school.

Religious writer and Orthodox Christian mystic, Sergei Nilus’ book, “The Great within the Small and Antichrist, an Imminent Political Possibility. Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec’s AI-crafted video showing President Biden announcing that the draft would return has sparked strong reactions, as many struggle with the possible reality that could arise from the conflict overseas.
The AI-made video shows Biden telling Americans that the situation in Ukraine, along with an escalating situation in China, have strained the volunteer military and now requires a draft of regular citizens, starting wit those who are turning 20 in 2023.
The draft would select 20-year-olds, followed by 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 19, and 18-year-olds, in that order.
“An illegal Russian offensive has been swift, callous, and brutal. It’s barbaric,” AI-Biden says in the video. “Putin’s illegal occupation of Kyiv and the impending Chinese blockade of Taiwan has created a two-front national security crisis that requires more troops than the volunteer military can supply.
“I have received guidance from General Milly, the Chairman of the joint chiefs, that the recommended way forward will be to invoke the selective service act, as is my authority as president. The first to be called by the sequence determined by national lottery will be men and women whose 20th birthday falls in the calendar year 2023. Remember, you aren’t sending your sons and daughters to war. You’re sending them to freedom. God bless our troops, and God bless Ukraine,” the AI Biden concludes.
Reaction to the video was a mixed bag, with some praising it for showing the stark realities that wars can bring upon, while others had meltdowns and called for Posobiec’s arrest for spreading alleged misinformation, despite the segment never once claiming that the video is real.

Two major news items coming from Hungary over the past week have been studiously ignored by the corporate media in the United States.
One was Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s interview with the Swiss weekly Weltwoche on March 1, in which he called on the European Union to establish a NATO-like security body, but without the United States. The other was the demand on Feb. 28 by Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó that the United Nations conduct “a full and proper investigation” into the attack on the Nord Stream pipelines last fall.
Hungary is a key Central European country, a member of both NATO and the European Union. Orbán has led the country continuously for the past 12 years. Szijjártó is its chief diplomat. Their statements are remarkable, bordering on sensational in fact, but unfit to print, broadcast, or disseminate in any way by the Western media machine and its corporate social-media cohorts.
Since their remarks cannot be dismissed as “disinformation” (that word has become synonymous with “truth” in today’s America), they are simply ignored. It is not hard to understand why. As no major outlet has done so or is likely to do so in the future, we bring our readers a detailed account of what they had to say.
In his interview with Die Weltwoche Editor-in-Chief Roger Köppel, Viktor Orbán talked about the war, paths to peace, his encounters with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Europe’s dramatic weakness, and his own political achievements.
