Instead, the deceptive Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 limited immigration visas per year based on hemisphere of origin: 170,000 for the Eastern Hemisphere and 120,000 for the Western, plus unlimited numbers of visas for family members of immigrants and some resident aliens.
The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 includes the powerful “chain migration,” a policy which allows immigrants to the United States to sponsor other family members for admission, who may have the opportunity to sponsor other immigrants.
As more immigrants are allowed in the United States, the population eligible to sponsor their relatives for green cards increases exponentially.
Chain migration has substantially increased the number of immigrants from non-European countries, thus substantially lowering the percentage of Caucasians in the population of the United States.

I’m disappointed to see the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops opening their mouths to encourage more illegal migration when there are millions of Americans, both U.S. citizens and permanent resident aliens who waited in line and came here legally to build productive and law-abiding lives, who suffering hardship because of the lockdowns and the economic and riot destruction of their businesses.
I suppose the Conference of Catholic Bishops, looking out for their own interests, are looking to fill the void left by the defection of Catholics leaving the empty pews that’s been ongoing since the Ought-2000s.

The White House pleaded with would-be illegal immigrants and legitimate asylum-seekers on Wednesday to stay home, saying the U.S. doesn’t have the capacity to handle them right now.
“Now is not the time to come,” Jen Psaki, President Biden’s spokeswoman, told reporters. “The vast majority of people will be turned away.”
The stark statement comes as Mr. Biden is under increasing pressure from his left flank to dismantle the Trump immigration machinery and make life easier for illegal immigrants, both those already here and migrants looking to come from Latin America.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops added its voice Wednesday, urging the Catholic president’s team to announce a new deportation amnesty for potentially millions of illegal immigrants from Central America, saying conditions in their home countries after last year’s hurricanes are too horrid to return to.
Hispanic Democrats on Capitol Hill also fired off a letter to Homeland Security this week saying they have heard troubling reports that deportations have increased, and have been carried out without chances for extra appeals.
The Democrats said they want newly minted Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to order the department to follow more strictly the new administration’s slimmed-down deportation list, which knocks most illegal immigrants out of serious danger of being removed.
Yet another outfit, the Latin America Working Group, said Mr. Biden’s early calls for task forces to study the Trump policies isn’t good enough.
“We know they’re inhumane and deadly, we’ve seen the impact they have on human lives, they need to be terminated NOW. People’s lives are hanging in the balance waiting in danger on the border and people are still being expelled to Mexico or to their home countries,” the group said.
They launched a drive for signatures on a petition telling Mr. Biden to stop turning people away at the border.
Ms. Psaki, at the White House, suggested that’s the eventual goal, but they’re not ready yet.
“This is obviously an emotional issue for many of us who worked on this in the past, for the president himself,” she said. “But we need time to put in place, and partners, to put in place, a comprehensive process and system that will allow for processing at the border of asylum seekers, but also providing a pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are in the United States.”
It’s unlikely would-be migrants in Latin America give the Biden team the time they’re asking for.
Mini-caravans have already started showing up at the border in Texas, comprised of both families and children traveling without parents, known in government-speak as Unaccompanied Alien Children, or UAC.
Those are the two toughest categories of migrants, with a web of court rulings and policies that make it much tougher to block or quickly deport them, even if they don’t have a clear case for asylum or other protections.
Mark Morgan, the immediate past commissioner at Customs and Border Protection, said border authorities are encountering 3,500 migrants a day, and 300 of them are UACs. Both are staggering numbers, but the UAC number would put the country on pace for one of the worst periods on record.
Faced with those sorts of headwinds, Mr. Biden has been forced to scale down his election promises, at least when it comes to the border.
In the interior, where some 11 million illegal immigrants already reside, Mr. Biden and his team have ordered a less intensive deportation machinery. One operation to go after illegal immigrant fugitives with sex-crime offenses on their records was canceled, and new rules about who should be deported are winding their way into the agency’s bloodstream.
Even some cosmetic changes have been made, with agents at Homeland Security Investigations ordered not to use the term “alien.”
The biggest change was an attempt to stop almost all deportations for 100 days. A federal judge in Texas put that on hold.
Immigration groups, though, say there’s still plenty of room for the Biden team to hinder removals within the space of the court’s order. They’ve begun to grow louder in their demands that the new president flex his administrative muscle and make changes now.
The call by the Catholic bishops is among the more extravagant.
They said El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua were so devastated by Hurricanes Eta and Iota that it’s not safe for people to be sent back, and the U.S. must give them Temporary Protected Status, granting them a chance to stay and work here while their home nations recover.
The bishops also mentioned the strains of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and said the U.S. had “a moral responsibility” to step in.
Though they addressed their letter to Homeland Security and the State Department, their words could become an issue for Mr. Biden, a practicing Catholic.
TPS is an 18-month grant of protection from deportation, and also grants work permits and some taxpayer benefits. Once declared, it also has proved difficult to end.
Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador have all been under TPS grants dating back the to start of the century, with several hundred thousand people still here under the temporary protections for two decades.
Declaring a new TPS for Central America could add millions more people — all the illegal immigrants who arrived over the ensuing two decades from those three countries and Guatemala, said Robert Law, director of regulatory affairs and policy at the Center for Immigration Studies.
That would include the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrant families and children who surged the border during the Obama and Trump years.
Mr. Law, who served as chief of policy at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in the Trump administration, said delivering on that large a TPS grant would be a gargantuan task for his former agency — and a misguided move.
“There’s no legitimate basis for granting TPS that I’m aware of at this juncture, and doing so would provide basically a permanent amnesty, if you will, for millions of illegal aliens in the country,” he said.
He said if USCIS were told to carry out TPS for so many people, it would sap personnel and attention from other business at the agency as it rushed to administer applications, work permits and fingerprinting for the new surge of people.
The Obama team already saw that happen when it carried out the more limited DACA deportation amnesty, causing delays in some green card spouse petitions.
Mr. Law said adding so many new legal workers to the U.S. economy right now would be painful for American workers who are already struggling in the coronavirus-stricken economy.
“A blanket TPS, that’s an executive amnesty on steroids for millions of illegal aliens, which is going to devastate any economic recovery for Americans,” he said.

So where do you think these people are going to earn a living? Competing with citizens for entry level jobs. Our kids are already forced out of the work force for summer jobs because of this boundless immigration.
Along with it comes higher welfare costs (more than 60% of illegal aliens end up on lifetime assistance), more crime (illegal aliens generally arrive without any education, and are frequently the folks who have been unable to succeed in their native countries).
This is a disaster. Why is it that people voted for this wreckage? Our country will suffer terribly from this, except for the large corporations who will find lots of cheap labor, driving down middle class wages.

Just weeks ago, millions of Americans celebrated as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office. For many, this transition brought a deep sense of relief. The collective exhale on Inauguration Day was both a celebration of the end of Trump’s presidency and a brief reprieve from his extremist rhetoric that energized his most fervent supporters.
As the weeks have passed, a sense of “normalcy” has been restored, yet the future is laced with the uncertainty of what comes next.
The sad truth is, the violent insurrection of the Capitol that President Trump incited didn’t occur in a vacuum. Trump may be gone from the White House, but the racism and extremism that fueled his rise haven’t evaporated; they’re only getting stronger.
There’s good news, too; in fact, minority communities in America are living through a paradoxical era. Marginalized groups are enjoying greater freedoms all the time—while also facing a constant and rising threat of danger.
This is the experience for Blacks and Jews alike, whose communities are increasingly the targets of white nationalist violence.
According to the FBI’s latest report on hate crimes, Black and Jewish communities are two of the most targeted groups in America. The majority of racially motivated violence targets Black communities, while over 60% of religiously-motivated hate crimes take aim at Jewish communities.
The status of Black and Jewish Americans is particularly vulnerable to the violent right-wing extremism that’s spreading throughout this country, and the insurrection on January 6 pulled the veil off of the myth that white nationalism is simply a fringe movement with no threat to national security and marginalized communities.
The threat is real; the mass shootings at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue in 2018 and Charleston’s AME church in 2015 are two notable tragedies to spawn from white nationalist terror.
The conspiracy theories that drive extremists are almost always based on the same anti-Semitism, xenophobia, and racism, which is all the more reason for our communities to be united against this collective hate. When a white supremacist attacks a synagogue, it could just as well be a mosque or historically Black church.
With racism and anti-Semitism raging throughout the country, the importance of building Black-Jewish alliances is all the more urgent.
Thankfully, some of this urgency is being felt. In the last year, racial justice has become a majoritarian issue, especially among young people. In the wake of the police murders of George Floyd and Breanna Taylor, protests erupted in cities across the country to declare that Black Lives Matter.
Black Lives Matter became the largest protest movement in American history, and that resurgence of grassroots energy was amplified by record voter turnout among people of color in the 2020 presidential election.
The surge of Black and brown voters led to the election of Biden and Harris and gave Democrats a slim margin of control in the Senate with the historic election of Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff in Georgia.
Warnock and Ossoff became the first Black and the first Jewish Senators to represent the state, which symbolically became official just hours before the Capitol insurrection.
By working together during their campaigns, Warnock and Ossoff were a clear example of what’s possible when we work together. Along with Stacey Abrams, they present a new vision for the South. Their victories flipped the Senate to the Democrats and set the stage for progressive legislation to pass in Congress.
Their partnership was movingly reminiscent of the Black-Jewish activism of the 1960s. The Civil Rights Movement marked an important turning point in which African-Americans and Jewish Americans worked together to end segregation and register Black voters.
Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. famously marched with Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel in Selma, and Rabbi Joachim Prinz— who escaped Nazi Germany— spoke at the March on Washington.
Sadly, the partnership between Black and Jewish activists waned over the intervening years, but now there are signs of a reemergence given the imminent threats both our communities face.
This month saw the launch of a Black-Jewish Entertainment Alliance, which is elevating the voices of Black Jews for their first public event. At the American Jewish Committee, efforts are underway to develop an initiative for diversity, equity, and inclusion to form community partnerships and better train leaders on the urgent needs of diverse communities outside of and within American Jewry.
No longer is it enough to solely advocate on issues affecting your most immediate community. The time is now to strengthen partnerships with full pluralism.
Too often the issues of racism and anti-Semitism are viewed as separate and distinct. It is true that each is rooted in its own history that shouldn’t be diminished or glossed over. There are enough similarities however, that point to the benefits of working together to combat extremism in all of its forms.
With white nationalism surging, it calls on Blacks and Jews of all backgrounds to rise together.

Ahacking group based in Israel who have already taken down a Ku Klux Klan website and doxxed its members have said they are determined to expose more white supremacists after witnessing the insurrection at the Capitol.
Last month, the anti-fascist group Hayalim Almonim—Hebrew for Anonymous Soldiers—had successfully hacked into the website for Patriotic Brigade of the KKK hate group, completely altering it to include phrases such as “goodnight white pride” and reveal the names, addresses and other personal details of its alleged members.
The group further emphasized their intentions by changing the website URL from Klan331.com to the new domain JewishAntifa.com.
As part of the hack, Hayalim Almonim also provided details of Patriotic Brigade’s leader Kevin James Smith’s previous conviction for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
Speaking to Newsweek, a spokesperson for the hacking group said they are a relatively new operation and a majority of their “anonymous soldiers” are based in Israel, although they also have members in Europe and the U.S.
“The White Power movement is international. Even the KKK has contacts with European fascists. We target them wherever they are in this world,” said JewAnon, an information relay for Hayalim Almonim.
“However, the United States is the only country we are aware of where the white nationalists have succeeded in a successful insurrection at the nation’s Capitol. Hence our current focus on this country.
“We cannot allow the United States to fall to fascism, for the good of the world. We all watched with horror at the sight of the Confederate flag being carried through the halls of the American Capitol. Do not underestimate this threat, and allow it become a precursor to something worse.”
JewAnon added: “We are not going to stop until we end the Klan and strike a death blow to fascism in the United States.”
Discussing the illegal doxxing of members of the Patriotic Brigade in the site’s hack, JewAnon told Newsweek they will be “hard-pressed” to find people who view “exposing Neo-Nazi rapists in a negative light.”
“We have received an incredible amount of support. Anything negative is white nationalists covertly attempting to spin the narrative. They have failed miserably.”
Unsurprisingly, the group is reluctant to reveal exactly how they further plan to battle white supremacy in the U.S. They did state, however, that they are looking into prominent far-right figurehead Billy Roper, a man the Southern Poverty Law Center describes as an “uncensored voice of violent neo-Nazism” and George Bois Stout, an arms dealer in De Kalb, Texas and alleged leader of the Church of the Ku Klux Klan.
The group has also set its sight on a rally organized by the Church of the Ku Klux Klan, which is being planned to take place in Paris, Texas, in October.
While there are obvious connections between Hayalim Almonim and the Anonymous hacking group, they say they have no issue with being labeled antifa too.
“Antifa is an acronym for anti-fascist action. That is a very accurate description of our activities,” JewAnon said. “Antifa in the United States tried to warn you against the growing white nationalist threat. The media responded by unfairly demonizing them, and ignoring the growing white nationalist threat.
“We aren’t using the fascist label against politics we don’t like, but outright dangerous fascists who are a terror threat. We believe these people are very dangerous, and cannot be allowed to hide in the shadows any longer.”

SPLC removes Black Separatist listing on hate map: ‘Black dissent isn’t black violence’

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has removed the Black Separatist listing on its extensive hate map to underscore that white supremacist extremism is “the most dangerous threat to national security.”
The change to the SPLC hate map was announced by the SPLC’s Intelligence Project on Oct. 8 as the organization sought “to remove a false equivalence between White Nationalist and Black Separatist hate groups” and “to present the information about extremist groups more accurately and equitably.”

The solution is to wake people up from their slumber.
Too many people are still misguided by the media. However, these executive orders will make it clear for many that the cabal does not seek their wellbeing, on the contrary. The Jews and their puppets always overplay their hand.
The process is already quite advanced: two groups exist now, the Patriot-Christian camp and the Communist-Satanist horde.
Same thing in Germany in 1919-1933. The Communists were very strong at first, but common sense prevailed among the German workers. Those were “the ones that ran behind the red flags before they carried the swastika”.
Two things are essential: leadership and to make the truth available to the public, that they may build their own opinion.
The Germans did not need an armed revolution to get rid of the Jew yoke. In the US I am not so sure, but at least the Patriots are armed to the teeth.

US Marshals, ICE ‘Reevaluate’ Operations on Sex Offenders After Biden Deportation Freeze

The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are working to “reevaluate” enforcement operations on sex offenders after a recent executive order issued by President Joe Biden.
“According to our Sex Offender Investigations Branch chief, the USMS is working with ICE to reevaluate upcoming enforcement operations to ensure compliance with recent Executive Orders issued by the POTUS,” the USMS told The Epoch Times in an emailed statement.
Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies of the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), asserted in an article published Wednesday, “ICE had been planning a nationwide operation in partnership with the U.S. Marshals targeting at-large sex offenders, but it was scuttled by the new directive.”
Acting DHS Secretary David Pekoske had issued the new directive (pdf) on Jan. 20 in response to Biden’s executive order, which revoked former President Donald Trump’s Executive Order 13768 signed in 2017. Trump’s executive order had, in part, ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which oversees ICE, to prioritize the removal of illegal aliens who “have been convicted of any criminal offense” or “charged with any criminal offense, where the charge has not been resolved.”
The new DHS directive under the Biden administration had also imposed a 100-day pause on deportations starting Jan. 22 for certain illegal aliens who were ordered to leave, pending the completion of a review of immigration enforcement policies. A federal judge temporarily blocked the order for 14 days on Jan. 26—a victory for Texas, whose attorney general sued the Biden administration over the executive order.
In the directive, the DHS said it would, during the deportation freeze, be prioritizing in part, “Individuals incarcerated within federal, state, and local prisons and jails released on or after the issuance of this memorandum who have been convicted of an ‘aggravated felony,’ as that term is defined in section 101(a) (43) of the Immigration and Nationality Act at the time of conviction, and are determined to pose a threat to public safety.”
The new rules, according to Vaughan, only allow for “a very narrow set of cases of aliens” to be deported—in particular, “only those classified as current ‘aggravated felons,’ or the most serious criminals who are still in the custody of local authorities.” Most prior convictions would not count, and are “categorically excused” if they happened 10 or more years ago, she wrote.
The strict conditions mean that “only a rare few of the criminal aliens arrested throughout the country will be removable, and even many aliens who do have convictions for crimes of violence would be protected if the convictions occurred more than 10 years ago,” she asserted.
An unnamed ICE source told Vaughan that most of the at-large illegal alien sex offenders that USMS and ICE are targeting “do not clearly meet the new standards, especially in California, where sex offenders routinely get to plead down to far lesser charges, especially if it helps them avoid deportation, and where certain sex crimes, such as sex with a minor, are not classified as felonies as they are in other states.”
“Another ICE officer told me that they had more than two dozen deportable sex offender targets at large in his area who now will be free to re-offend,” Vaughan wrote.
Thomas Homan, a former ICE acting director, told Fox News that the agency has canceled a national operation called “Operation Talon” that targets convicted sex offenders who are illegal aliens.
The White House and ICE did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Epoch Times.
Biden had signed multiple executive actions on the first day of his presidency that rescinded Trump administration policies that were working to reduce the flow of illegal immigration. The initiatives are part of Biden’s plan to legalize about 11 million illegal aliens living in the United States, something he had vowed during his campaign.
More than 50 House Republicans on Tuesday in a letter called on President Joe Biden to take action to secure the border and warned him about a “rising illegal immigration crisis” starting at the southern border, citing increases in the number of immigrants just a few weeks into the new presidency.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — The Biden administration on Friday announced plans for tens of thousands of asylum-seekers waiting in Mexico for their next immigration court hearings to be allowed into the United States while their cases proceed.
The first of an estimated 25,000 asylum-seekers in Mexico with active cases will be allowed in the United States on Feb. 19, authorities said. They plan to start slowly with two border crossings each processing up to 300 people a day and a third crossing taking fewer. Administration officials declined to name them out of fear they may encourage a rush of people to those locations.
The move is a major step toward dismantling one of former President Donald Trump’s most consequential policies to deter asylum-seekers from coming to the U.S. About 70,000 asylum-seekers were enrolled in ” Remain in Mexico,” officially called “Migrant Protection Protocols,” since it was introduced in January 2019.
On Biden’s first day in office, the Homeland Security Department suspended the policy for new arrivals. Since then, some asylum-seekers picked up at the border have been released in the U.S. with notices to appear in court.

On January 6th, 2021, Ashli Babbitt was taken from this world prematurely by a Capitol Police Officer with an itchy trigger finger.
He is yet to be publicly identified and has not answered for his crimes. The officer hid behind a door, shot Ashli in cold blood without giving a warning, and then ran away to hide as she died on the floor of the US Capitol.

In January, international human rights groups pummeled the government of Guatemala for its use of batons, tear gas, and troops to break up a migrant caravan that had swelled to some 9,000 people mainly on incoming President Joe Biden’s promises that all who wished to cross the U.S. border would find a warm embrace inside the United States.
That January 2021 caravan (which CIS covered extensively) seemed timed to reach the U.S. border right around inauguration day, which would have forced a policy choice to either reward the caravanners with mass-entry that would spawn many more behind it, or use tear gas and batons on women and children on television, like in November 2018 on the California border. Thanks to the Guatemalans choosing to exercise the latter option at their own border (and a Mexican military prepared to do so if the Guatemalans failed), the new Biden administration was spared the politically awkward optics of either alternative.
But now, yet another caravan reportedly is gathering, its participants no doubt determined to test if – this time – Guatemala and Mexico will let them through or be willing to again take the political heat that comes when federal police beat migrants in front of television cameras.
On Friday, February 12, Alejandra Mean, a spokeswoman for the Guatemalan Migration Institute, told reporters of a “possible entry of a massive group of people” from Honduras and El Salvador this coming week.
Central American nations and Mexico have long allowed their territories to be used as migrant transit superhighways to the U.S. border. It has been customary to allow immigrants through, so long as they kept going to the next country north, something like the hot-potato game, to eventually become an American problem and not linger to become a domestic one.
That was the circumstance until President Donald Trump threatened them all with debilitating trade sanctions and loss of foreign aid unless they stopped the caravans by any means necessary.
Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico all complied, including Mexico’s notable deployment of some 10,000 troops on its border with Guatemala, which remains in place and has forcibly stopped every caravan since. In fact, all of the caravans since early 2019 met unruly ends, resulting in forced deportations aboard buses long before they got anywhere near the U.S. southern border.
But with Trump now out of office and that lever of force now in Biden’s hands, the question becomes how the new president intends to incentivize those governments to continue that status quo and prevent a mass rush on the southern border under his watch.
An answer is now in hand, and we can make an informed guess as to what likely will happen with the next caravan, thanks to solid new reporting by Reuters journalists Laura Gottesdiener, Frank Jack Daniel, and Ted Hesson.
Biden Administration Privately Demanded Guatemala and Mexico Block Caravans
According to their February 12 report based on six U.S. and Mexican sources “with knowledge of diplomatic discussions”, the Biden administration has been privately “encouraging” Mexico and Guatemala to keep up their border enforcement against northward migration just as they did under Donald Trump.
Reuters cited diplomats in saying it was “politically expedient” for the Biden administration to have those governments hold migrants at bay far from the southern border, especially during the pandemic.
Reuters described its sources as saying that “any rush to the U.S. border could hand Biden’s political opponents ammunition to sink the rest of his immigration agenda, which includes providing a pathway to citizenship for immigrants already in the United States and reducing asylum application backlogs.”
Meaning, by my estimation, that Biden is eager to avoid that choice between televised scenes of his own administration beating migrants, on the one hand, and on the other, letting them surge through the southern border in huge numbers without Covid-19 testing, while demanding Americans change their lifestyles to contain the virus.
Mexico and Guatemala appear to be ready to comply with the new administration’s wishes that they stop this next caravan, according to other media reports.
Demanding Terrible Favors for a Luxury of “Political Expedience”
But the administration is demanding a terrible favor of these countries, which may explain why all of the officials cited in the Reuters story are anonymous. The White House refused to comment on the news outlet’s report that Biden has pressured those governments to stop migration.

As Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Viet Thanh Nguyen explained, Asians shouldn’t respond to the horrific attacks with “knee-jerk” calls for more policing but must instead recognize the violence as “part of a pattern of white supremacy.”
Even if the assailants are “people of color,” he added, “the solution is not to fall back on racist assumptions of our own but to hold the system of white supremacy responsible for dividing us.”
Despite his literary talents, Nguyen apparently missed the irony in the notion of avoiding “racist assumptions” by blaming people of a certain skin color for the attacks – in this case, people of a different skin color than those involved in the incidents – but he wasn’t alone in identifying whites as the problem.
Manju Kulkarni, executive director of the Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council, told NPR that “xenophobic policies and racist rhetoric” pushed by former president Donald Trump was behind the violence. Some here have no doubt heard of tinnitus… ringing in the ears. It can have multiple causes and there’s no real medical consensus about how to treat it.
For some it’s a mild tone they can mostly ignore. But for others its a screaming whistle or roar that dominates their life. It’s quite common. Especially among modern musicians and soldiers. Some here may even suffer from it.
The suicide rate for soldiers who’ve seen hard action is higher than for those who haven’t; and the suicide rate for active duty US Army soldiers is around 30 per 100,000. This is more than double the national average. And these are young people.
I believe that many of these suicides are the result of unrelieved tinnitus driving them to the limits of despair.
If you know anyone, especially a soldier, who suffers from tinnitus, there ARE treatments, irrespective of whatever the allopathic community might say.
You just need to keep looking for the right treatment, which is different depending on the underlying cause and person.
Send some up for the poor souls suffering the torment of tinnitus, that the Lord will be moved to intervene and lead them to therapies best suited to help them.

Biden plays Mario Kart with granddaughter during Camp David getaway
Nevermind the impeachment trial — President Biden spent time playing video games with his granddaughter during a weekend at Camp David, the presidential retreat in the Maryland mountains.
Naomi Biden, the daughter of Hunter Biden, posted in an Instagram story Saturday that her grandfather beat her “barely” in a game of “Mario Kart.”
“Secret service made an exception and allowed him to drive himself,” she posted, linking to a short video of them playing the video games. “A little rusty, but he still won (barely).”
The White House said that Biden and his family are spending the weekend at Camp David for the first time since he entered the White House in January.
Other than meeting with his national security team, the president has nothing else on his schedule.
He arrived there on Friday afternoon by motorcade after Air Force One landed in Hagerstown, Md.
Despite the impeachment trial of his predecessor, President Donald Trump, continuing on Saturday, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Biden would watch a “bit” of the trial, but said he would leave it up to the Senate to decide on an outcome.
Trump was acquitted in a 57-43 vote.
Biden’s administration was also embroiled in a scandal Saturday as another spokesman, TJ Ducklo, resigned for reportedly threatening a reporter who planned to write about his relationship with another journalist.
The heavily guarded resort in the mountains has allowed presidents dating back to Dwight Eisenhower to escape the glare of the spotlights.
Guests make their way around the rustic lodges using golf carts and can take advantage of the tennis courts, horseshoe pits, swimming pool, golf driving range, as well as sledding, ice skating and snowmobiling, the government says on its Camp David website.

Harris Takes Customary Role Of President by Calling Several Heads of State

Vice President Kamala Harris has recently called multiple heads of state, a task that is normally done by the president.
Harris spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday, the White House said.
Harris “expressed her commitment to strengthening bilateral ties between the United States and France and to revitalizing the transatlantic alliance,” a readout said. She and Macron “agreed on the need for close bilateral and multilateral cooperation to address COVID-19, climate change, and support democracy at home and around the world.”
“They also discussed numerous regional challenges, including those in the Middle East and Africa, and the need to confront them together,” according to the readout.
There was no mention of President Joe Biden.
“We discussed COVID-19, climate change, supporting democracy at home and around the world, and regional challenges. @POTUS and I look forward to working with President Macron to build a better future for our two countries,” Harris wrote in a tweet.
Biden spoke to Macron on Jan. 24.
Harris shared a call with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau earlier this month. The White House said it was her first call to a foreign leader as vice president.
“The Prime Minister congratulated the Vice President on her historic election, and she recalled fondly her years spent in Montréal,” a readout from Trudeau’s office said, adding that they discussed other matters, including fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We discussed our commitment to work closely on several issues, including combating COVID-19, addressing climate change, and expanding our economic partnership in ways that advance the recovery and create jobs in both countries,” Harris said in a statement after the call.
Biden and Trudeau spoke on Jan. 22. It was the first call Biden made after being sworn into office two days prior.
Vice presidents rarely call heads of state. The last vice president, Mike Pence, did not share calls with Trudeau or Macron, though he visited in person with heads of state on a number of occasions.
The White House didn’t respond to requests for comment.
Harris’ calls drew notice from conservatives, with criticism lobbed by the National Pulse, an upstart outlet started by Raheem Kassam, former adviser to Britain’s Nigel Farage.
“It is bizarre for a Vice President to be making contact with key world leaders just weeks into a new administration,” the outlet said.
The calls could be a sign that Harris will have an elevated position when compared to past vice presidents, particularly in matters of foreign policy.
Biden, 78, became the oldest person to enter the White House last month. Speculation was rampant during the 2020 campaign about him potentially only serving one term in office. But Biden has said he is open to vying for a second term.
“I think it’s a legitimate question to ask anybody over 70 years old whether or not they’re fit and whether they’re ready,” he told ABC last year. “But … [the] only thing I can say to the American people, it’s a legitimate question to ask anybody, watch me.”
