The Missing Link In Cohen’s Plea
“Crime doesn’t pay,” they say.
But hush money is hardly a crime for those who would make a dollar out of a dime.
Yes, Michael Cohen committed tax fraud and bank fraud.
But convicted crimes for Cohen might not be crimes for President Trump.

Five of those dealt with tax evasion for the years 2012 through 2016 in which he failed to report approximately 4.1 million dollars in reported income. In addition, Mr. Cohen pled guilty to two campaign finance charges, one for causing an unlawful corporate contribution, and a second one, personally making an excessive personal contribution, both for the purpose of influencing the 2016 election.”]
Sounds mighty serious to me.
But, you know, experts say you can’t indict a sitting president.
Now, Cohen may have a lot to talk about, but as his Jewish family urged, he needs to ‘come clean’—I mean—for his own sins.

This was Cohen’s actual plea-bargaining chip:

Cohen pleaded guilty to eight charges in order to get a reduced sentence for tax fraud, bank fraud, and election-law violations.
But of the two charges getting all the hype, Trump may escape.
I’m talking about the Seventh and Eighth Counts that cites Cohen’s payments to Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels as “excessive contributions” to Trump’s election campaign.
Is it called making a plea just to cut a deal?
[Clip: “If somebody’s going to give — spend five years, like Michael Cohen, or 10 years, or 15 years in jail because of a taxi cab industry, because he defrauded some bank, uh, the last two are the tiny ones. You know, campaign violations are considered not a big deal, frankly. But if somebody defrauded a bank, and he’s going to get ten years in jail, or twenty years in jail, but if you can say something bad about Donald Trump and you’ll go down to two years or three years, which is the deal he made? In all fairness to him, most people are going to do that. And I’ve seen it many times. I’ve had many friends involved in this stuff. It’s called flipping and it almost ought to be illegal. You get ten years in jail, but if you say bad things about somebody, in other words make up stories, if you don’t know, make up st– they just make up lies. Alan Dershowitz said ‘compose,’ right? They make up lies, I’ve seen it many times. They make up things. And now they go from ten years to they’re a national hero. They have a statue erected in their honor. It’s not, it’s not a fair thing, but that’s why he did it. He made a very good deal.”]
The fixer’s in his own fix, charged with a felony, carrying a five year sentence.
[Clip: “Michael Cohen, tell us about your relationship with him.” “Well he was a lawyer for me for — one of many, you know, they always say ‘the lawyer’ then they like to add ‘the fixer.’ Well I don’t know if he was a ‘fixer’. By the way, he pled to two counts that aren’t a crime which nobody understands. Uh, I watch a number of shows, sometimes you get some pretty good information by watching shows. Those two counts aren’t even a crime. They weren’t campaign finance.”
It was “hush money” paid to shut the mouths of two women, who—according to Rudy Giuliani—could hurt Melania, Trump’s wife.
Nothing illegal about paying off strumpets.
The rich and famous are often targets of freebooters…and that’s where hush money, with non-disclosure provisos, kick in.
Daniels and McDougal are not national heroes, they’re simply looking to make a quick buck.
Kick the criminals where it hurts, Mr Prez.

The BrotherNet is a long term true Internet and digital infrastructure alternative,

The current Internet was built on the infrastructure of telephone lines, coax cable, and fiber communication lines intended for anything but what the Internet has evolved to today.
Coax cable, originally intended for TV was found to be effective for delivering Internet. Eventually, people stopped using coax for TV and would get TV through their Internet connection in the form of streaming.
This is the goal of The BrotherNet. At first, the Internet will be the primary network used to grow The BrotherNet, but eventually people will primarily access what is left of the Internet through the much bigger and pervasive BrotherNet.
The current Internet was designed to allow free flow of communication and information between people. That free flow of information is what expanded the Internet like nothing we’ve ever seen.
However, the Internet has become poisoned with Jew censors. Jew Censors who want to stop exactly what made the Internet thrive.
BrotherNet is the preemptive solution to a sinking ship.
We could wait until the Internet cannibalizes itself into nothing more than an interactive CNN ad on endless repeat…or we could now begin construction on what will be the next big Internet transitional revolution.

Phase 1A:
The BrotherNet virtual private network, or VPN service, will provide access to the local infrastructure of the BrotherNet as well as access to the rest of the internet.
This VPN would allow anyone with an internet connection to access the BrotherNet.
Phase 1B:
BrotherNet Archival Servers will manage both local websites (accessible only from within the BrotherNet network) as well as external websites that are on the conventional internet.
BrotherNet users can flag a website or video that they think has a high likelihood of being censored and the BN Archival Servers will make a local copy permanently accessible to anyone on the BrotherNet.
When content is inevitably censored from the internet, the BrotherNet servers will first try and load the deleted content. When the page doesn’t load from the internet, the page will be loaded anyway but from the BN Archival Servers along with a small notification at the top of the page, indicating that the page is only accessible to those on the BrotherNet.
Phase 2:
It will also be necessary to create an independent communication medium for phone & email. This can be done at the end of Phase 1, and can be expanded during Phase 3.
Phase 3:
As BrotherNet grows in size and popularity, access may be restricted to the BrotherNet servers on some ISPs. BrotherNet must then become its own ISP, providing direct physical access to the BrotherNet via cell towers, or internet cables.
Internet access will still be possible through the BrotherNet, and censored content supplemented by the BN Archival Servers.
Eventually, it may also be necessary to create a parallel internet backbone depending on funding and level of censorship.
Phase 4:
A financial transaction system will ultimately be necessary, providing access to funding and payment transfers between BrotherNet users.
Phase 5:
As BrotherNet grows, a legal team will be required to manage the inevitable lawsuits surrounding hosting information that is slated for removal from the internet.
Notes: Services can be free initially to build a user base, however, at some point charging money for VPN, physical internet access, communication, and hosting will become lucrative business ventures. Creating a financial transaction company will also yield income.
A BrotherNet ‘Constitution’ of sorts should be drafted. It would outline censorship policies, freedom of speech, and other goals.

A bombshell story that was supposed to be the end of President Donald Trump – until the celebrity source recanted. It sounds like a typical media screw-up, with one key difference: for whatever reason, CNN is standing by it.
On July 26, CNN reported that Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal attorney, claimed that Trump “knew in advance about the June 2016 meeting in Trump Tower in which Russians were expected to offer his campaign dirt on Hillary Clinton,” and was willing to testify to that effect to special counsel Robert Mueller, according to “sources with knowledge.”
Trump denied the story the very next morning, tweeting “so the Fake News doesn’t waste my time with dumb questions,” and calling out Cohen for hiring Lanny Davis, “Bill and Crooked Hillary’s lawyer.”
Fast-forward a month, after Cohen pleaded guilty to a litany of felonies, and Davis has admitted that Cohen said no such thing, “does not” know about the Trump Tower meeting, and obviously won’t testify to Mueller about it.
CNN’s reporting got it “mixed up,” he said. As a result, other outlets that relied on Davis as a source have retracted their Trump Tower stories. CNN, though, is standing by theirs.

CNN has painted itself into a tiny, twisted corner. Is there anyone who doubts that this sentence in its “blockbuster” story was flat out false? If it’s not false, how they can refuse to explain it? Are we fine with major media deceit if it’s in service of a particular agenda?

Journalist Glenn Greenwald speculates it’s because the original story explicitly stated that CNN had contacted Davis but he “declined to comment.”
Trouble is, Davis told BuzzFeed that he was CNN’s source for the story. So either CNN is lying to its audience about Davis, or Davis is lying about being a source for CNN, Greenwald pointed out.
“If CNN lied about Davis having refused comment (when, in fact, he was one of their anonymous sources), then this is obviously a major journalism scandal,” Greenwald wrote in The Intercept on Tuesday.
If Davis is lying, “that is also a major story,” given that US media have treated him as a reliable source for decades, and that Davis has used his media platform to promote a Michael Cohen “truth fund,” a crowdfunding campaign for money that will actually go to pay Davis through legal fees.

In sum: everyone knows CNN – in what it touted as a “blockbuster” story, one of the biggest yet in the Trump/Russia saga – almost certainly told a major, purposeful lie which they refuse to acknowledge. But like Joy Reid’s hacker, it’s fine because it was for the right reasons.

Caught in such contradictions, media outlets typically claim their errors are “just good faith and rare mistakes,” being exaggerated by their critics, writes Greenwald.
However, he says, major US media have “repeatedly and frequently – not rarely and periodically – gotten major stories completely wrong, always in the same direction” when it comes to Trump and Russia.
Their errors have been “chronic,” “systematic” and “reckless,” including stories from Russian hacking of the Vermont power grid that never happened to a supposed links between Trump ally Anthony Scaramucci and a Russian bank.
It is worth noting that CNN actually retracted that story and fired the people involved – a rare case of someone being held accountable for this kind of Trump/Russia fake news.

It’s well-known, or should be, that back in May, McCain informed the White House that he didn’t want Trump to attend his funeral, but asked for Pence instead.
On Monday, a family spokesman confirmed that President Trump would not be attending the funeral or memorial services in Washington for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
Let us not forget that Senator McCain’s funeral is a taxpayer funded state funeral, where he will be lying in state first in Arizona and then in DC.
The White House did nothing wrong, either. They lowered the flag out of respect for McCain’s death for the regulation time frame for all US senators, and which POTUS can extend the duration for by executive order per his discretion.
Anyway, I’m surprised that dear, old Senator McCain, one of the “Magnitsky Trio” along with Senators Ben Cardin and Lindsey Graham, may not have his most excellent friend Bill Browder attend his funeral, too, and be an honorary pallbearer, along with all the rest of warhawk McCain’s Russia-hating cronies.
Cardin had invited Browder to testify to Congress in August 2017 to push through last year’s sanctions bill, a more stringent version of the expiring Magnitsky Act of 2011, which had since been used to ratchet up pressure on Russia.
Back in October 2017 Browder claimed he was notified by “the Department of Homeland Security” that his authorization to travel to the US using his British passport via an ESTA visa under the Visa Waiver Program that was revoked on the very same day that Russian prosecutors registered an Interpol diffusion notice for his arrest on charges of tax evasion and and sending money overseas.
He was, according to his story, checking in at a US airport, and was notified by DHS that his Estes visa had been cancelled and so was denied entry.
An Interpol diffusion notice is similar to, but less formal than, a red notice, which is “the closest instrument to an international arrest warrant in use today,” according to the Justice Department.
McCain and Cardin jumped on the wagon demanding DHS do an investigation into why Trump revoked Browder’s ESTA visa.
In response to the publicity, a spokesperson for the US Customs and Border Protection Agency said in a statement that Browder’s ESTA “was manually approved by CBP on Oct. 18—clearing him for travel to the United States.” The spokesperson said it “remains valid.”
Ok, so who’s lying? Browder or the CBP?
To understand the Magnitsky deception is to completely unravel and expose the shallow roots and the murky beginnings of the unmerited and undeserved Russian ‘sanctions’ and the massive financial and political support network behind Browder, which includes McCain.

Browder and his illegal Hermitage Fund, co-founded with Brazilian Lebanese Jewish banker Edmond Safra with suspected links to international organized crime who owned the notorious Republican National Bank, was once the wealthiest investment fund in Russia and was a mega-component of that scene as well as a financial vehicle (and part of the grand global money Laundromat system) for the Semibankirschina.
Browder is the consummate, professional thief and fraudster. A pathological liar, master story teller and spinmeister, using his accountant’s tragic death in prison due to medical neglect and the resulting sanctions spun off from his grand fictious epic to shield himself from prosecution by either Russia, or the US, and any other country or entity that might have a case against him.
After a major and very public inquiry, those prison authorities responsible were severely punished by then-President Medvedev’s administration after a very public (in Russia) investigation into the deplorable, inadequate, systemic and negligent prison conditions leading up to his death.
Browder is snake-oil conman in a $5000 suit and the personification of Jewish chutzpah, who himself gave up US citizenship for British when federal investigators and tax authorities were closing in on his own tax scams and financial crimes committed in the US.
He is the pivotal lobbyist who launched the demonization of Russia using poor, dead Sergei Magnitsky and a very intricate, well-funded fable supported by the likes of Soros and Khodorkovsky and their intricate networks of “dissenters” and “civil rights activists” in order to cover for Browder’s own crimes.
Anyway, maybe Browder will make a surprise appearance at the funeral, because he’s still busy ducking all his imaginary Evil Putin’s Evil Russky assassin henchmen he claims are after him. Putin would “like to kill me like he killed my lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky'”.
Even in death, John McCain planned what he thinks is the final burn for two of his biggest foes — Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump — at a moment when much of the world will be watching.
McCain, a “maverick” Cold War legend in his own mind, was a very sick, petty, bitter, spiteful, hateful, and finally pathetic old man in life.
As Putin once said, “He left his head in Viet Nam”.
Certainly symbolic for the tragic life of McCain in that it was brain cancer that killed him.
I’m not inclined to dance on his grave, because his type of brain cancer is truly democratic — it strikes anyone on an equal opportunity basis regardless of race or ethnicity, whether they were good, bad, young, old, male female, etc. And the ravaging end stages of it are terrible, and people rarely survive it past 18 months.
How he died gives me no sense of satisfaction because I’ve been to funerals of several friends who died from the same cancer and saw their suffering, and that of their families.
I would not wish McCain’s brain cancer on my worst enemy. But still, in the larger narrative of McCain as the archetypal Neocon Hawk, its somehow fitting. I can’t respect the man for the pain, suffering, hardship and sorrow he brought to millions of other people in the world.

Sheldon Whitehouse, and FedEx president Fred Smith will be among those to carry McCain’s coffin at a Saturday memorial service at the Washington National Cathedral, in addition to Russian dissident Vladimir Kara-Murza.
McCain made the request of the vice chairman of the Open Russia movement [founded by McCain pal Mikhail Khodorkovsky and supported by McCain pal Soros as an Open Society clone-Kj] last April in what Politico describes as “one final burn planned for two of his biggest foes,” Vladimir Putin and President Trump.

Vice President Mike Pence will also join Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan in speaking at a ceremony at the Capitol, where McCain’s body will lie in state on Friday.

Russia Reacts To John McCain Death: ‘The Enemy Died,’ Says Politician, ‘Will Of Allah’ Chechen Leader Adds

Russian politicians and state media responded Sunday to the death of Senator John McCain, who was a longtime critic of Vladimir Putin’s regime.
As tributes to John McCain poured in from American politicians, world leaders in several countries had unusual reactions to the passing of the 81-year-old Republican who had served as Arizona’s senator for more than 30 years.
McCain was a longtime, vocal critic of Russia under the rule of President Vladimir Putin, often in recent years taunting the Russian government on his Twitter account.
In 2014 he called Russia “a gas station masquerading as a country,” and more recently, he lashed out at Donald Trump over Trump’s unusual coziness with Putin and warmth toward the Russia regime.
After Trump met with Putin in July, a meeting at which Trump was so friendly with Putin that even Russian state media said that he “smells like an agent of the Kremlin,” McCain slammed Trump’s press conference with the Russian political strongman as “one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory,” according to CNBC.
McCain, in what turned out to be one of his final public statements, went on to say that Trump “abased himself… abjectly before a tyrant,” calling Trump’s meeting with Putin “a tragic mistake.”
Following McCain’s death from brain cancer on Saturday, Russia state media on Sunday simply stated that McCain was “an implacable opponent of Russia,” according to BBC Moscow correspondent Steve Rosenberg.

The English-language Russian state run media outlet RT ran an article on McCain which claimed that McCain’s death “caused mixed feelings and triggered a heated debate over the American values represented by the Republican. While some commended McCain’s patriotism, others questioned his moral integrity.”
Among the Americans quoted by RT were “alt-right” figure Mike Cernovich who spoke out on Twitter.
In the Russian parliament, Oleg Morozov, a member of the upper house International Affairs Committee, also responded to McCain’s death, according to Russia expert Julia Davis, who posted a reference on Twitter to part of the lawmaker’s statement on the death of McCain, namely the sentence, “The enemy died.”
“He was good at hating Russia, and he is the symbol of modern, openly anti-Russian thinking: Russia cannot be anything other than hostile. A good Russia is a dead Russia,” Morozov wrote in a statement quoted by the government-owned Russian media outlet Sputnik.
Another close ally of Putin, Chechnya’s political strongman Ramzan Kadyrov, was perhaps even more harsh in his response to McCain’s passing. “It’s the will of Allah,” said the leader of the largely Muslim country, according to The Daily Star newspaper.
Kadyrov also said that McCain had “an incomprehensible hostility towards Russia. He did not like the very fact of its existence.”

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov says the recent death of US Senator John McCain is unlikely to change the “wave of hatred” toward Moscow from Washington’s Russophobic political elites.
In a recent interview with the ‘60 Minutes’ program on the Rossiya-1 Television, Ryabkov was asked if he considered McCain the enemy of Russia. The diplomat told journalists that he personally preferred to observe the old rule of saying either good things or nothing at all when talking about the dead. At the same time, Ryabkov said that he did not expect the US senator’s death to bring about significant changes in Russia-US relations.
“It is not about McCain, there are a lot of others like him and they, to a large extent, set the tone in modern day United States. And I think that the wave of hatred that these people express toward Russia will not diminish with McCain’s passing,” Ryabkov said.
Veteran Republican politician McCain died of cancer over the weekend at the age of 81. He was known for his staunch anti-communist stance which persisted even after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the other communist systems around the world.
In later years McCain switched his focus to an anti-Russian agenda, becoming one of the main sponsors of various bills introducing restrictions and sanctions on Russia, including one that came into force on Monday. He was also known as one of the main supporters of the so-called “color revolutions” – the overthrow of lawfully-elected governments countries through street protests that turn violent.

It will take the US and its allies just 24 hours to ready its missile-strike group for an attack against Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The statement comes amid warnings of a possible false-flag chemical attack.
The coalition strike group has around 70 delivery vehicles deployed to the Middle East, the ministry’s spokesperson Maria Zakharova told reporters at her news briefing on Thursday.
The arsenal includes nearly 380 cruise missiles, and US Navy missile destroyers ‘Karni’ and ‘Ross’ deployed to the region, each carrying 28 Tomahawk cruise missiles.

Syrian forces are gearing up to take the last terrorist stronghold, the US is boosting its military presence, and Russia is warning of a false-flag chemical attack. RT looks at the aligning of forces ahead of the battle for Idlib.
American warships, cruise missile delivery systems, strategic bombers and other hardware has arrived to the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf earlier this week.
Washington is denying that any buildup is taking place, but Moscow says the assets are being gathered for a massive strike against the Syrian government.
A provocation with chemical weapons, staged by the jihadists, will be used as a pretext for the attack, and Damascus will again be groundlessly accused of poisoning its own people, Russia said.
In April, a massive bombardment of Syria by the US, UK and France was triggered by what Russia says was a similarly staged false-flag operation.
Jabhat al-Nusra and other militants in Idlib stand no chance against the Syrian military, backed by Russia and Iran, but Western interference may give them a fighting chance.
The US and its allies are making every effort to preserve jihadist forces and use them to remove Syrian president Bashar Assad from power, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recently said .
And if the violence escalates in Idlib, the two million strong population of the northern province will be put in grave danger as the terrorists basically hold the people hostage and use them as a human shield.
The Russian Reconciliation Center continues talks to achieve a peaceful resolution of the Idlib standoff. However, the militants seem reluctant to lay down their arms, which makes the coming days crucial for the fate of Idlib and the whole of Syria.

Planned chemical weapon provocation in Idlib aimed to prevent removal of terrorists – Lavrov
The planned chemical weapon provocation in the Syrian province of Idlib is aimed at maintaining the presence of terrorists in the area, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
The Russian FM, who met his Saudi counterpart, Adel al-Jubeir in Moscow on Wednesday, compared the terrorist presence in the province with an “abscess” that should be swiftly removed.
“Idlib is now the last remaining hotbed of the terrorists, who try to speculate on the area’s status of de-escalation zone; try using the population as a human shield and try repressing the armed groups that are ready for talks with the government,” he said.
The Minister also noted that the overall goal in Washington with regard to war-ravaged Syria, was not really helping the country, but to push for regime change.
“It’s not the first time the US – no matter the administration – has prioritized the task of changing dissident regimes above the common goals of eradicating terrorism and extremism. It happened in Iraq and Libya. Now they’re trying to do the same in Syria. To phrase it more correctly – they tried to do it in Syria, but failed,” Lavrov said.
The chemical attack issue and “the threats that are put forward against the Syrian government, are used with the sole purpose of preventing the expulsion of the terrorists from the de-escalation zone in Idlib,” Lavrov said.
In this case, the Trump administration is simply following the policies of Barack Obama, under whom “the Americans tried to use all means possible to shelter Jabhat al-Nusra, with hope of using it in the fight against, what they call, the regime,” he added.
Earlier, Moscow warned that a provocation, involving chemical weapons, was being prepared in Idlib by the US, with the aim of blaming the Syrian authorities and justifying further air strikes.
On Tuesday, Russia’s Defense Ministry said that sources on the ground informed them that the chemicals to be used in the fake attack have been already delivered to terrorists in the area with the assistance of the infamous White Helmets group.

Al Manar: Syrian Children Abducted to Be Used in New Chemical Scenario in Idlib: Report
Members of the Western-backed White Helmets “aid group,” which stands accused of working with Takfiri militants and launching false-flag gas attacks in Syria, are preparing to launch a new chemical attack in Idlib countryside and accuse the Syrian government of staging it.
Beirut-based Al-Mayadeen Arabic news channel quoted local sources as saying that at least 20 children were abducted from Jisr Shoghour in the last 20 days, in a bid to use them in the expected chemical farce.
The site of the attack would be in Jisr Shoghour prison, the local sources said, adding that toxic materials were transferred to the prison’s depot a month ago via al-Hassaniyah border crossing which links Turkey to Jisr Shoghour in Idlib countryside.
The sources said that the crossing is controlled by the White Helmets, pointing out that another chemical attack would be staged in the neighboring Christian-majority town of Halouz.
Al-Mayadeen reported- citing local sources- that 250 White Helmets members and other foreign militants would take part in the attack, which would take place a week after Syrian government troops start Idlib offensive.
The activity of the White Helmets in Jisr Shoghour prison obviously increased, the report on Al-Mayadeen said, adding that a meeting between the Western-backed group and commanders from the Nusra Front terrorist group took place recently in the area.
The White Helmets was founded in Turkey in 2013 by former British MI5 officer, James Le Mesurier.
Since its establishment, the group has received at least $55 million from the British Foreign Office, $23 million or more from the US Office of Transition Initiatives and untold millions from Qatar.
Damascus stresses that the so-called volunteer group staged the suspected chemical attack in the town of Douma in Syria’s Eastern Ghouta region on April 7.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has also described the White Helmets as “a branch of the al-Qaeda and al-Nusra” militant groups and a “PR stunt” by the US, the UK and France.

Will Israel-lobby-captured OTFI sanction Americans?

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) was ordered to register as an Israeli foreign agent on November 21, 1962 when it was part of the American Zionist Council.
AIPAC has never complied with the order, and the Department of Justice has never enforced it. [President John F. Kennedy and Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy both aggressively pursued registration of Israel front American Zionist Committee = American Zionist Public Affairs Committee = AIPAC as a foreign agent. Kj]
AIPAC’s associated think tank, the Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP) was spun off from AIPAC as a survival tactic during a 1980s FBI investigation into AIPAC over economic espionage that produced America’s worst-performing bilateral trade agreement.
Incredibly, decades later both organizations appeared to want to get into law enforcement and were instrumental lobbying President George W. Bush for the 2004 launch of the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (OTFI) Treasury unit. Although OTFI proclaims it is “safeguarding the financial system against illicit use and combating rogue nations, terrorist facilitators, weapons of mass destruction (WMD) proliferators, money launderers, drug kingpins, and other national security threats,” the secretive office has a special blind spot for major terrorism generators, such as tax-exempt money laundering from the United States into illegal Israeli settlements and proliferation financing and weapons technology smuggling into Israel’s clandestine nuclear weapons complex.
As AIPAC and WINEP demanded in 2003, the office as initially led by Undersecretary of Treasury Stuart Levey, who worked in unusually close coordination with the Israeli government.
Levey’s Harvard thesis (PDF) was about how Israel lobbying organizations could become more effective by staying beneath the radar of public scrutiny and distancing themselves from the notoriety generated by the illicit activities of such ideological fellow travelers as the Jewish Defense League.
JDL was a Department of Justice-designated terrorist organization involved in bombings and more recently had a supporter indicted for 2017 violence against a peaceful protester of AIPAC’s policy conference.
In its early years OTFI rebuffed Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) attempts to obtain information about OTFI operations and the purpose of Levey’s numerous taxpayer-funded trips to Israel by citing the Bank Secrecy Act.
OTFI is even more impenetrable to outside scrutiny than most Treasury offices, most particularly OTFI’s personnel records.
Levey made OTFI briefers available mostly for private presentations and off-the-record Q&A sessions to a limited number of organizations well-known for having the advancement of Israel as a top organizational goal, such as WINEP and the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies.
When Levey finally stepped down in 2011, the top job at TFI was transferred to David Cohen, who worked at the same Washington DC law firm as Levey, Miller, Cassidy, Larroca & Lewin LLP (which later merged into Baker Botts LLP).
Cohen continued Levey’s practice of curtailing OTFI’s availability to any concerned public opposition. On September 12, 2012, Cohen refused to answer reporter questions about Israel’s possession of nuclear weapons, and whether sanctioning Iran, a signatory to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, over its internationally-inspected civilian nuclear program was an example of endemic double standards at OTFI.
In 2015, Mondoweiss observed that the key requirement for Americans working in the top “counterterrorism” job at OTFI appeared to be being both Jewish and Zionist. Most Americans (70%) do not self-identify as Zionist. (Defined in the poll as any person who believes in the development and protection of a Jewish nation in what is now Israel.)
Cohen was succeeded by longtime OTFI employee Adam Szubin, former counsel to Stuart Levey, who was appointed to lead OTFI during the Obama administration, but never confirmed by the Senate.
Szubin also visited Israel frequently on the taxpayer dime and, like Levey and Cohen before him, kept WINEP and AIPAC lobbyists well-briefed on OTFI initiatives.
Szubin served as interim under secretary from January 20, 2017 until February 13, 2017. In 2017 the already narrow hiring criteria of OTFI was even further restricted.
According to the news and intelligence website DEBKAfile, OTFI’s current leader Sigal Pearl Mandelker, also a dedicated Zionist, either had or still has Israeli citizenship.(PDF) Mandelker was confirmed by the Senate on June 21, 2017.
Within its own organization, Department of Justice policy has no issue with dual-nationals seeking and being granted sensitive jobs. (PDF) However, there are obvious potential conflicts of interests with an Israeli-American dual national, dedicated to the advancement of Israel, running OTFI.
The progression reveals that the leadership of OTFI is being hand-picked by the Israel lobby on the basis of predicted devotion to advancing the strategic position Israel.
This raises the question of how such influence negatively impacts Americans, as AIPAC and the Israel advocacy ecosystem prepare to expand the OTFI model across states and within the federal bureaucracy.
AIPAC is attempting to pass new laws and enforcement powers to target Americans found “guilty” of boycotting Israel over its endemic human rights abuses.
Drafts of the “Israel Anti-Boycott Act” appear to allow secretive units such as OTFI or new units housed within the Export Import Bank to fine Americans up to $1 million and imprison them for up to 20 years for such boycott activities.
Free speech rights arguments have not been much of an obstacle to such secretive extra-judicial operations. OTFI worked to successfully to imprison New Yorker Javed Iqbal for nearly six years over airing Hezbollah videos on his privately-owned cable network that Israel affinity organizations found distasteful.
OTFI shut down nonprofit charities the Israel lobby opposed such as Al-Haramain, Benevolence International, Global Relief, and Kind Hearts with little due process.
Because the Israel lobby’s “Israel Anti-Boycott Act” could go even further, it is particularly relevant to scrutinize OTFI as the model for taking sanctions applied mostly to disenfranchised foreigners, and turning them against American citizens residing and doing business in the U.S.
OTFI has extraordinary powers to sanction entities and individuals and enact secondary actions against entities that do business with them under broad executive orders.
An examination of OTFI’s Specially Designated Nationals And Blocked Persons List (SDN) Human Readable Lists provides further evidence of Israel lobby regulatory capture.
As part of its enforcement efforts, OFAC publishes the SDN list of individuals and companies it accuses of being owned or controlled by, or acting for or on behalf of, targeted countries. It also lists individuals, groups, and entities it claims are terrorists and narcotics traffickers designated under indicators that are not country-specific.
Collectively, such individuals and companies are called “Specially Designated Nationals” or “SDNs.” Their assets are blocked, and banks and US persons are generally prohibited from dealing with them.
Lawyers specializing in this area attest to the difficulty of removing those listed on the Treasury’s SDN list. The tipoff that the list is Israeli-approved, is the absence of well-known nuclear weapons technology traffickers for the only country in the region that actually has a clandestine nuclear weapons program – Israel.

AIPACs Israel Anti-Boycott Act legislation requires “enforcement actions” under some of the same authorities used by OTFI, the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, 50 U.S.C. § 1701-1706, in declaring as a “US national emergency” grassroots-led boycotts of products made in illegal Israeli West Bank settlements and other Israeli products and services.
These boycotts are not really US emergencies in any sense, but rather target a grassroots strategy to protest of Israel’s dismal human rights record.
AIPAC considers the OTFI model of unaccountable, anonymous judges, jurors and financial executioners as an appropriate model to apply to Americans and foreigners who engage in entirely peaceful, lawful, First Amendment protected boycotts. AIPAC has lobbied for passage of the Israel Anti-Boycott Act for years even though statistically significant polling reveals that 69.1% of Americans oppose it.

In the early 1960’s Israel funneled $5 million (more than $35 million in today’s dollars) into US propaganda and lobbying operations.
The funds were channeled via the quasi governmental Jewish Agency’s New York office into an Israel lobby umbrella group, the American Zionist Council.

TEL AVIV — Elor Azaria, the Israeli soldier who was convicted of manslaughter in 2017 for shooting an unarmed and injured Palestinian in occupied Hebron, told Israel Hayom in an interview partially released on Wednesday that he feels “no remorse” for the deed and would do it again if ever faced with a similar situation.
In the interview, Azaria called his execution of 21-year-old Palestinian Abdel Fattah al-Sharif “what needed to be done,” despite the fact that al-Sharif was wounded, incapacitated and unarmed at the time Azaria shot him in the head.
Al-Sharif had initially been wounded after allegedly attempting to stab Israeli soldiers on patrol in Hebron, 11 minutes before Azaria arrived at the scene.
The extrajudicial killing was filmed and circulated online where it soon captured international attention and sparked condemnation from human-rights groups.

According to New York Times intel leakers, “informants close to” Putin have “gone silent.” What can it all mean?

Stephen F. Cohen, professor emeritus of Russian studies and politics at NYU and Princeton, and John Batchelor continue their (usually) weekly discussions of the new US-Russian Cold War. (Previous installments, now in their fifth year, are at TheNation.com.) Cohen’s contribution follows:
For nearly two years, mostly vacuous (though malignant) Russiagate allegations have drowned out truly significant news directly affecting America’s place in the world.
In recent days, for example, French President Emmanuel Macron declared “Europe can no longer rely on the United States to provide its security,” calling for instead a broader kind of security “and particularly doing it in cooperation with Russia.”
About the same time, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin met to expand and solidify an essential energy partnership by agreeing to complete the Nord Stream 2 pipeline from Russia, despite US attempts to abort it.
Earlier, on August 22, the Afghan Taliban announced it would attend its first ever major peace conference—in Moscow, without US participation.
Thus does the world turn, and not to the wishes of Washington. Such news would, one might think, elicit extensive reporting and analysis in the American mainstream media.
But amid all this, on August 25, the ever-eager New York Times published yet another front-page Russiagate story—one that if true would be sensational, though hardly anyone seemed to notice.
According to the Times’ regular Intel leakers, US intelligence agencies, presumably the CIA, has had multiple “informants close to…Putin and in the Kremlin who provided crucial details” about Russiagate for two years.
Now, however, “the vital Kremlin informants have largely gone silent.” The Times laces the story with misdeeds questionably attributed to Putin and equally untrustworthy commentators, as well as a mistranslated Putin statement that incorrectly has him saying all “traitors” should be killed. [Indeed, a gross mistranslation so rotten it should be criminal – Kj].
Standard US media fare these days when fact-checkers seem not to be required for Russia coverage. But the sensation of the article is that the US had moles in Putin’s office. Skeptical or credulous readers will react to the Times story as they might.
Actually, an initial, lesser version of it first appeared in The Washington Post, an equally hospitable Intel platform, on December 15, 2017.
I found it implausible for much the same reasons I had previously found Christopher Steele’s “dossier,” also purportedly based on “Kremlin sources,” implausible. But the Times’ new, expanded version of the mole story raises more and larger questions.
If US intelligence really had such a priceless asset in Putin’s office—the Post report implied only one, the Times writes of more than one—imagine what they could reveal about Enemy No. 1 Putin’s intentions abroad and at home, perhaps daily—why would any American Intel official disclose this information to any media at the risk of being charged with a treasonous capital offense?
And now more than once?
Or, since “the Kremlin” closely monitors US media, at the risk of having the no less treasonous Russian informants identified and severely punished?
Presumably this why the Times’ leakers insist that the “silent” moles are still alive, though how they know we are not told. All of this is even more implausible. Certainly, the Times article asks no critical questions.
But why leak the mole story again, and now? Stripped of extraneous financial improprieties, failures to register as foreign lobbyists, tacky lifestyles, and sex having nothing to do with Russia, the gravamen of the Russiagate narrative remains what it has always been:
Putin ordered Russian operatives to “meddle” in the US 2016 presidential election in order to put Donald Trump in the White House, and Putin is now plotting to “attack” the November congressional elections in order to get a Congress he wants.
The more Robert Mueller and his supporting media investigates, the less evidence actually turns up, and when it seemingly does, it has to be considerably massaged or misrepresented. Nor are “meddling” and “interfering” in the other’s domestic policy new in Russian-American relations.
Tsar Aleksandr II intervened militarily on the side of the Union in the American Civil War. President Woodrow Wilson sent troops to fight the Reds in the Russian Civil War.
The Communist International, founded in Moscow in 1919, and its successor organizations financed American activists, electoral candidates, ideological schools, and pro-Soviet bookstores for decades in the United States.
With the support of the Clinton administration, American electoral advisers encamped in Moscow to help rig Russian President Boris Yeltsin’s reelection in 1996. And that’s the bigger “meddling” apart from the decades-long “propaganda and disinformation” churned out by both sides, often via forbidden short-wave radio.
Unless some conclusive evidence appears, Russian social media and other meddling in the 2016 presidential election was little more than old habits in modern-day forms. (Not incidentally, the Times story suggests that US Intel had been hacking the Kremlin, or trying to, for many years. This too should not shock us.)
The real novelty of Russiagate is the allegation that a Kremlin leader, Putin, personally gave orders to affect the outcome of an American presidential election.
In this regard, Russiagaters have produced even less evidence, only suppositions without facts or much logic. With the Russiagate narrative being frayed by time and fruitless investigations, the “mole in the Kremlin” may have seemed a ploy needed to keep the conspiracy theory moving forward, presumably toward Trump’s removal from office by whatever means.
And hence the temptation to play the mole card again, now, as yet more investigations generate smoke but no smoking gun.
The pretext of the Times story is that Putin is preparing an attack on the upcoming November elections, but the once-“vital,” now-silent moles are not providing the “crucial details.”
Even if the story is entirely bogus, consider the damage it is doing.
Russiagate allegations have already delegitimized a presidential election, and a presidency, in the minds of many Americans.
The Times’ updated, expanded version may do the same to congressional elections and the next Congress. If so, there is an “attack on American democracy”—not by Putin or Trump but by whoever godfathered and repeatedly inflated Russiagate.
As I have argued previously, such evidence that exists points to John Brennan and James Clapper, President Obama’s head of the CIA and director of national intelligence respectively, even though attention has been focused on the FBI.
Indeed, the Times story reminds us of how central “intelligence” actors have been in this saga.
Arguably, Russiagate has brought us to the worst American political crisis since the Civil War and the most dangerous relations with Russia in history.
Until Brennan, Clapper, and their closest collaborators are required to testify under oath about the real origins of Russiagate, these crises will grow.

Anyway, Cohen combs through the August 25 NYT “Kremlin Sources Go Quiet, Leaving C.I.A. in the Dark About Putin’s Plans for Midterms” story. Some of it is hilarious when listened to. His written piece is below.
In the Part 1 audio, in the first few minutes, Cohen first talks about Macron’s speech (Monday) saying that Europe has to re-orient security away from the US and towards Russia.
Cohen says its an emblematic part of a growing pan-European reconsideration of the Cold War that Obama dragged Europe into.
Putin privately attends an Austrian wedding and dances with the bride, who is personal friend or acquaintance of Putin, and is an official in the new Austrian government. New York Times, gasps, clutches it pearls and portrays it as “more of Putin’s cunning infiltrating Western democracy”.
The big story, as Stephen Cohen relates as completely ignored by Western media, was Putin’s meeting with Merkel.
Cohen then says, “What emerges is that Merkel, though its scarcely reported here, who’d been very hardlined about sanctions against Russia after the Ukrainian crisis of 2014, has now reached out and re-embraced Russia, Putin in particular, as Germany’s essential long term partner.”
He explains this in the context of Nord II, then says, “Geopolitical significance of Merkel doing a kind of U-turn on Russia, and saying as much as Macron said in the same week, that Europe now has to build its security in cooperation with Russia. So this is the kind of news, John, that makes us think, or makes us ask, whether everything is changing.”
Is it the new NWO? Is Europe in revolt? Maybe. Don’t get excited. If it’s happening, it will be a long, complicated process of tiny, almost imperceptible, moves.
Turning to Afghanistan, Cohen then says, “There’s also a story, that I don’t understand yet, that the Taliban, whom we’ve been fighting in Afghanistan for how long, they say it’s our longest war ever, and which goes to no peace conferences whatsoever, has agreed to attend a peace conference on the future of Afghanistan in Moscow in early September.
“The US government and the official Afghan government refuse to attend, which raises in my mind, at least the possibility, might it be Russia who finally gets us out of this war? Which would be sweet irony I guess for Putin, he’s been so villanized.”
I can fill in the gaps, perhaps.
Following the MOD’s Syrian operations model of reconciliation among warring factions, Russian MOD units have quietly been in the Taliban areas for months working in the background on preliminary talks with the various Taliban and Afghanistan tribes laying groundwork for possible future national reconciliation as they’ve done in Syria, as well as the more immediate security issues of ISIS in Afghanistan.
Russian MOD as well as Syrian sources stated several times in the past that ISIS members from US-occupied Syria have been transported by helicopter to Afghanistan, presumably being used as US proxie assets against Taliban.
Taliban is fighting with the US/official Afghan military on the one hand, and ISIS on the other at the same time.
Taliban is essentially nationalistic with no imperial or caliphate aspirations, and no desire to go “international jihadi”. Hence Pentagon screams that Russia is arming Taliban, and maybe they are, but who knows? But, with this missing piece, its clear that Taliban is willingly attending at Russia’s behest, that Russia may take up a mediating role with the US, and that some framework now exists for their participation in the peace talks.
In the meantime, as does Cohen, I’d also started coming to the conclusion that it was the malevolent troll Brennan, head of CIA, and Clapper, DNI, who are actually responsible for much of the Russiagate crap, especially after Brennan got his security clearance yanked.
It doesn’t help that flying on a separate vector that there was a malicious and lazy clique inside the FBI, led by an even more malicious and lazy, morally bankrupt FBI counter-intelligence chief and liason with the CIA, trying to skew things in the direction of Clinton with a ginned-up, pile of crap dossier handed to the FBI director by (drum roll, please) the late Senator John McCain.
United in their mutual admiration society and mutual hatred of Trump, McCain handed the GPS dossier to Comey, and I think Brennan was the one who anonymously slipped the dossier to Buzzfeed, who published it.
Trump was right to yank Brennan’s security clearance. Access to confidential and classified information is based on “right to know” and “need to know” and both conditions are necessary to access it.
After leaving the CIA, Brennan, while technically having a “right to know” conferred by his security clearance, he had no “need to know” classified information from the CIA. Well, now his “right to know” is gone, too, so that shouldn’t be further abused, especially pumping his former subordinates off the record over a beer or something.
Besides keeping a clearance in the remote theory that the President might need to consult with Brennan on classified information, the ordinary, usual and most practical reason for the privilege of keeping a security clearance is when gaining revolving door employment into the private Defense and Security corporate contractors after leaving government service where a security clearance would also be required.
Having one already simply means the convenience of not having to apply for one again.

Palestine Home: Trump is willing starve Palestinians into compliance with his Deal of the Century
President Trump seems to think he’s the perfect blend of Santa Claus and Scrooge. On Tuesday, he revealed that since Israel got its present last May – the embassy (what a glorious day) – the Palestinians will now “get something very good” because “it’s their turn next.”
What could it be? A pony? What could the Palestinians possibly wish for?
Ever since the 1948 Nakba, Palestinians have had only 3 modest longings.
— Each generation has dreamed of worshiping unimpeded in Jerusalem, the city that PLO executive Hanan Ashrawi has called “the core of Palestinian existence, history and culture” and “beyond price,” the capital of their future state
— Palestinians have imagined a return to the 1967 borders (no doubt many have fantasized about reclaiming the whole land, but 22% would be a windfall)
— Palestinian refugees have visualized returning home to Palestine – the “Right of Return”
A capital? Nope.
Of course, Jerusalem is now just a memory to Palestinians [including Christians-Kj]: Trump essentially gave it as a Hanukkah gift to Israel last December.
(My Jewish acquaintances responded in the days following, “well, Jerusalem was ours all along, so this just makes it official. It’s no big deal. Nothing has changed.” Does this indicate ignorance or privilege, or perhaps a combination? Because for every Palestinian in the world, a part of their soul died that day.)
President Trump explained that his idea was brilliant (not stupid and reckless, like we thought): he had “taken Jerusalem off the table,” so now it’s no longer a point of contention. So simple, yet so elegant. This should streamline the peace process. Definitely.
1967 borders? Fat chance.
As for the 1967 borders, Palestinians recognize that’s a pipe dream.
Settlements are growing, unimpeded – in spite of the United Nations’ frequent reminders that settlements are illegal.
Israel is apparently the exception to every rule – breaking international laws, shooting unarmed people, imprisoning children, ethnically cleansing villages, dropping bombs on civilians.
Yep, that’s the country with which we share an “unbreakable bond based on common values.” These inspiring words have been uttered countless times by our Congress people, in spite of the above atrocities.
(Our legislators have a point: the United States and Israel have both treated indigenous peoples somewhat unreasonably; both have behaved rather shamefully toward minorities; each believes itself to be “a nation of immigrants” with total disregard for the natives of the land, and selectivity about which immigrants are desirable. We do have much in common.)
But to return to the issue of the settlements: there are now over 600,000 Israelis living on Palestinian land in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Although there was plenty of available land within Israel, they took Palestinian land to build homes, schools, settler-only roads (does that sound like apartheid?); they created roadblocks so that Palestinians couldn’t drive or walk near settlements; they built a 25-foot-high concrete wall that blocks many Palestinians from their own families, farmland, schools, and businesses.
(Don’t bother with the argument that “the wall keeps the terrorists away,” because it doesn’t fly. It took 15 years to complete the wall – that means for 15 years, people could go around it.
As recently as 2017, tens of thousands of Palestinians were illegally slipping into Israel every day – mostly through gaps where the wall had not yet been completed. Also, 1.5 million Palestinians live in Israel.
One more thing: take a look at any detailed map of the wall, and you will see that – heavens to Betsy – some settlements are on the same side of the wall as the Palestinians. So really, it is only the good will of Palestinians that will keep Israelis safe.)
So, in order for Palestinians to see their dream fulfilled, to return to the 1967 borders, 600,000 settlers would have to be relocated. Back in 2005, when only 8,000 settlers were evacuated from Gaza, they were given a generous compensation package and all kinds of incentives, totaling – in 2005 dollars, mind you, for just 8,000 settlers, mind you – about $2.5 billion.
Israel “asked” the US to pay at least $2 billion of that, which is only fair since the US also paid for the building of the Gaza settlements to begin with. Someone (I’m guessing not Israel) would have to cough up a rather large sum today to relocate 600,000+ settlers.
Thanks but no thanks
When Trump announced the embassy move, Palestinians suspended contact with him and his Dream Team. Clearly he is too partisan to be trusted.
He went on to cut $65 million in funding to UNRWA; week after week he has ignored Gazan deaths during the Great March of Return; he wants to disappear millions of refugees.
Now suddenly he says “it’s your turn,” and he expects Palestinians to come running back, ready to accept whatever crumbs he wants to drop on them? Is he surprised that they aren’t interested in his trinkets?
Spurned and insulted by this indifference, now Trump has also cut $251 million in economic aid to Palestinians. If there was any food or medicine left after the cuts to UNRWA, Palestinians can now count on starving until they get on the Trump Train.
What kind of “deal” is so bad that you have to be forced to take it?
And have you met Palestinians, Mr. Trump? They don’t cave.

Sputnik: US Media ‘Conditioning’ Public For Bombing Raids on Syria
The Syrian government is gearing up to liberate one of the last remaining strongholds of the jihadist opposition which has been ravaging the country for seven years. As the government has deposed the so-called rebel leaders from power in various cities in the country over the years, it has shipped them to Idlib.
The United Nations called on Russia, Iran and Turkey to not attack Idlib until humanitarian corridors are set up to evacuate civilians. One overlooked possibility, however, is an attack from France, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Former UK Ambassador to Syria Peter Ford published an article on Thursday outlining just how plausible such an attack is.
“It’s three major powers about to attack, apparently, a vulnerable Middle East country, and again they’re using subterfuge, if the reports coming from Russian sources are correct. And I believe they are-that a fabricated incident involving alleged use of chemical weapons is in the works,” Ford told Radio Sputnik’s Loud & Clear hosts John Kiriakou and Brian Becker.
While there exists very little evidence that chemicals were used at all in the most recent incident in Douma in April (locals deny it, and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons has failed to find any conclusive evidence), the US, UK and France jointly bombed Syria over the reports. US Defense Secretary James Mattis justified the attack based on “social media indicators,” which he said pointed to the use of chlorine or sarin.
It is likely that he was referring to videos published by the White Helmets, an organization funded by a number of Western governments.
Currently, some 10,000 members of al-Qaeda and Jabhat Al Nusra, plus their families, are occupying Idlib, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura told reporters on Thursday. The main al-Qaeda group in Idlib is Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.
“The intentions could hardly be made more plain, and almost every day [there is] new evidence,” Ford said, citing a CNN Pentagon reporter’s article suggesting that Assad’s movement of helicopters near Idlib caused concern to the US that the aircraft “could eventually be used to launch another chemical attack using chlorine filled barrel bombs.”
“They really are ramping up the conditioning [for an attack on Syria,]” Ford said. He noted that this kind of conditioning was not present when Syria liberated Daraa in early July, when he expected allegations of another chemical attack.
“This convinces me that this time it’s for real, and we better brace ourselves; we better stand by for a crisis much more serious than the Douma crisis unless we raise our voices loud enough.”

MEMO: Israel threatens to use nuclear weapons to ‘wipe out’ its enemies
Standing next to a secretive Israeli atomic reactor earlier in the week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to “wipe out” his enemies. In a speech that many will see as the Jewish state breaking its long silence over the possession of nuclear weapons, the Likud leader warned that it has the means to destroy its enemies.
“Those who threaten to wipe us out put themselves in a similar danger, and in any event will not achieve their goal,” he said on Wednesday during a ceremony to rename the complex, near the desert town of Dimona. The site has long been suspected to be the location where Israel has been developing nuclear weapons.
Iran hit back by describing Netanyahu as a “warmonger”. The threat “atomic annihilation” against the Islamic Republic was denounced as “beyond shameless in the gall”.
“Iran, a country without nuclear weapons, is threatened with atomic annihilation by a warmonger standing next to an actual nuclear weapons factory,” Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on his official Twitter account.
Zarif also commented on Israel’s nuclear programme saying: “As the world marks Int’l Day against Nuclear Tests, let’s remember that only nuclear bombs in our region belong to Israel and the US; the former a habitual aggressor & the latter the sole user of nukes. Let’s also remember that Iran has called for Nuclear Weapon Free Zone since 1974.”
Israel has never acknowledged possessing nuclear weapons, instead maintaining a policy of “strategic ambiguity”. Foreign reports have put the size of Israel’s nuclear arsenal in the dozens to hundreds of weapons.

Earlier this month a science journal published by Princeton University’s Science and Global Security journal claimed that Israel conducted illegal nuclear test in contravention of international law.

Radioactive sheep said to prove Israel illegally tested nuclear weapons
A science journal has claimed that radioactive sheep found in Australia could prove that Israel tested nuclear weapons, an action which would be in contravention of international law.
The study, which was published by Princeton University’s Science and Global Security journal, claims that Israel conducted an illegal nuclear test on 22 September 1979 near Prince Edward Islands, located in the Indian ocean off the southern tip of Africa.
At the time, a “double flash” of light was recorded by an American satellite named Vela 6911, a sign thought to indicate that a nuclear test had taken place.
Theories have speculated since that the flash could have been caused by natural phenomena, for example by a meteor shower, but the journal’s new study claims to have proof that this was not the case.
The new research, led by Christopher Wright of the Australian Defence Force Academy and Lars Erik de Geer, a former member of the Swedish Defence Research Agency, claims that a few weeks after the mysterious flash, “traces of radioactive Iodine (I-131) had been discovered in several dead sheep in Australia”.
Samples from the sheep’s thyroid glands were then sent for tests in the United States, “but the test’s results were never made public,” Ynet reports.

Or how he helped save the Cuban home of his favorite author Ernest Hemingway (by stepping over his hatred of its communist government and leaning on Cuba-hating bureaucrats in the State Department to give a waiver to US citizens wishing to help restore it).
If this fawning adoration of the late senator goes further, it will likely come into the territory of tall tales and pure legend, where the six-year-old George Washington cannot tell a lie to his father about cutting down the cherry tree while Betsy Ross decides the design of the American flag.
Russia may not have been among McCain’s favorite countries, but it can offer its own experience of turning a political figure into the embodiment of an ideology. Vladimir Lenin was famously turned from a Bolshevik leader into a not-so-living legend by his fellow communists. So, if future authors of McCain tales need inspiration, here are some.
When Lenin was a little kid
Much like Washington, Lenin’s image was used to teach good examples to young children in the Soviet Union. One apocryphal story is pretty much the same as the one about the first US president and the cherry tree – a young Lenin breaks a glass beaker and confesses his misdeed.
A good Soviet kid was expected to wear a little star badge with a young Lenin’s portrait in its center, by the way.
Lenin spares a rowdy stove-maker
However, this Lenin-was-kid-just-like-you narrative was far less pronounced than the alternative – Lenin-the-wise-old-man.
The iconic story of this kind is “Lenin and the stove-maker,” which is about a man who does not recognize Lenin and chastises him for trespassing on grazing land.
Days later, soldiers come to pick him up but, instead of being sent to a gulag, he is invited to Lenin’s residence to fix his stove.
If one thinks about it, the story is utterly terrifying due to its allusion to state terror under Lenin. But it was still considered a good read for the kids.
Lenin the accessible one
Much like McCain these days, Lenin was depicted as a very accessible man, who responded well to requests from common people. This narrative is called “Lenin and the peasant petitioners,” and involves some poor folks traveling far from their home village to get to Lenin’s office and tell him of their grievances in person.
Needless to say that he was eager to solve whatever problem was brought to his attention.
The old meme was given new life over the past several years, thanks to HBO’s TV drama ‘Game of Thrones.’ The Russian word for “petitioner” in Lenin’s case is the same as the one for “walker.”
The internet is full of classical paintings, with scary monsters from behind the wall photoshopped in place of the peasants.
Lenin, friend of pets and children
Lenin the role model, of course, could not be anything but nice to children and animals. There was even a small children’s book about this, fittingly named ‘Lenin and Children,’ from which young readers could learn about his cat-training skills and how he convinced children not to leave food on their plates.
One such story goes so far as mixing Lenin’s image with that of Santa Claus (or rather Father Frost, considering it happened in Russia).
It’s about Lenin coming to a New Year’s celebration at a boarding school, despite a snow storm. Like a proper Santa, he gave presents and played blind man’s bluff with the kids.
This one is based on a historic fact though, of course, the reality was a bit different.
Lenin’s wife was recovering for several months in a medical center that was combined with a school.
He did come to the party there, which happened on Christmas Eve rather than New Year’s, and was delayed because he was ambushed by bandits, who took all his valuables and the car. There were no games involving blindfolds, however.
Lenin the strongman
One of the most iconic images of Lenin shows him carrying a log on his shoulder. It is meant to depict a “subbotnik” – a volunteer spring clean[er] – near the Kremlin, which indeed took place.
The episode understandably was milked mercilessly for Soviet propaganda purposes, immortalized in countless books, paintings, and postage stamps.
There is even a ballet featuring Lenin running across the stage with a log, although the production is a modern one.

Damascus, SANA – US Senator Richard Black doubted that the US political approach has achieved any benefits for the American people, while this approach has resulted in destroying the Middle East, adding that the terrorism that struck the US on 9/11 and the terrorism targeting Syria today are one and the same.
In a statement to journalists following a meeting with Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban on Sunday, Black said that Syria has the right to reclaim all its territory without exception and to live in peace after years of war.
He said that the US should work with Syria to liberate the people of Idleb who are being used by terrorists as human shields, stressing that the West must understand that the “militants” in Idleb are all affiliated to Jabhat al-Nusra which is part of Al Qaeda.
The Senator said that there is a movement in the US administration that works towards prolonging the war in Syria, warning against the threats posed by the reported plans of the British intelligence to stage a chemical attack in Idleb and blame Syria for it in order to justify attacking it.
Black called on Western state to put an end to the economic sanctions imposed on Syria, holding the consecutive US administrations responsible for the chaos in the Middle East and the destruction in Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Yemen.
He hoped that US foreign policy would shift from harming the Middle East to helping it, and that it would use more diplomacy and less military force.
The Senator said he feels safe among Syrians as long as the extremists – who are recruited from more than 100 countries, trained, funded, then set loose by Western intelligence agencies to spread terrorism – are being eliminated.
For her part, Shaabam asserted that the terrorism targeting Syria today is the same terrorism that targets humanity everywhere, and all the governments must stand against it.
She said that after eight years of the war on Syria, the world now has respect and love for this country and its leadership and people due to the way they defended it and their convictions and unity.
Shaaban said she is glad to meet Senator Black who is a defender of the Syrian position and Syria’s right to defend itself.
She also welcomed all the free voices in the world who call for the independence of peoples, noting that there are many noble individuals who do not accept what Syria is being subjected to, and their voices need to be made heard by honest and free media.

Senator Black is a retired colonel who was wounded during fierce fighting as a U.S. Marine Corps officer in Vietnam.
He later served as a senior JAG officer on the Army General Staff at the Pentagon.
He serves as a Senator in the state of Virginia representing the 13th District.
In 2016 made he made his first trip to Syria.

Virginia State Senator Richard Black was curious about why the US seemed to be attacking only secular countries in the Middle East. Why attack Libya? Why Syria?
So he decided to go over to Syria and see for himself. After meeting Syrian president Assad and speaking favorably about the situation with Christians under his rule, Sen. Black earned himself a place on ISIS’s “enemy list.”
For not taking the Washington line that “Assad must go” he also earned a place on the Washington Post’s “enemy list.” Are we on the wrong side in Syria?

Aleppo, SANA- US Senator Richard Black said ’Monday that the Syrian Arab Army and its allies have been able to expel terrorism from most of the Syrian territory, and nobody remained except those terrorists in Idleb who take civilians as human shields.
“The Syrian Army seeks to protect the civilians via safe corridors to evacuate them from the terror-controlled areas,” Black told journalists following his tour to a number of areas liberated by the Syrian army from terrorism in Aleppo.
He indicated that the US “has been carrying on a war against terrorism for 17 years, but there were no results.”
The American senator affirmed that terrorists destroyed all civilized sites in Syria; mosques and churches, killed civilians.
He added that the Syrian army carries on a war against barbarism, reiterating that Syria will rise with the efforts of its people.

FYEO – I’m simply excited – I order a beautifully (blessed – Orhtodox CHRIST-ian) .925 silver chain and cross form a seller in Russia who was a joy to deal with. I will wear it with pride+ and I am looking for a local Orthodox CHRIST-ian church to try out. I don’t know the difference between Greek/Russian Orthodoxy yet though. My church isn’t working out for me as it used to, ever since it lost it’s original pastor. He went to another church and we go this hippy/Liberahole in their now 🙁 Will keep you posted.

Gibraltar Chronicle (Aug 31): US submarine sails into Gibraltar port
The US Navy’s nuclear-powered fast-attack Tomahawk-missile laden Los Angeles-class submarine USS Newport News is pictured above sailing into Gibraltar yesterday evening.
The Ministry of Defence said it was “a scheduled logistical visit”.
The submarine’s arrival was not without incident, however.
Details were sketchy as this edition went to press, but eyewitnesses said a Spanish customs boat was intercepted by a Gibraltar Defence Police vessel after it came too close to the US submarine.
Officials at the MoD and The Convent were looking into the incident last night to establish the sequence of events and assess what happened and where.
If classed as an incursion, the incident will almost certainly draw a diplomatic protest, as happens as a matter of routine with all incursions by Spanish state vessels.
This is the second US submarine to visit Gibraltar this year.
Last March, the Virginia-class submarine USS John Warner stopped in Gibraltar en route to the eastern Mediterranean, where it was later involved in a military strike on targets in Syria.
The submarine fired six Tomahawk missiles at chemical weapon sites in Syria.
The USS Newport News was last in Gibraltar in 2016, where it spent several days undergoing what the MoD described at the time as “un-planned, non-nuclear maintenance work”.
The submarine is one of a class of nuclear-powered fast attack submarines that forms the backbone of the US Navy’s submarine force.
