    The Damnation Of Confederate Memory
    By Brother Nathanael

    The new crusade in America is the damnation of national memory, and the elimination of significant blocks of American history from the public sphere.

    Everyone was reconciled to the chronicling of the Civil War and the Reunion—including its memorials and symbols—but now Confederate flags, monuments, and name-places, have become the new heresy.

    The recent removals of the Confederate flag in South Carolina and the monument of Robert E Lee in Louisiana are just the beginning of our national disintegration.

    Behind it all are two powerful Jewish organizations, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and the Anti-Defamation League (the ADL.)

    The SPLC amassed a huge hit list of 1500 Confederate Memorabilia that they’re just itching to take down.

    Memorials on private property aren’t safe either.

    And while the ADL calls Confederate displays ‘symbols of slavery,’ their real scheme is to erase the Jews’ historical predominance in world and domestic slave trade.

    The evidence is damning.

    In America alone, Jews, in both the South and North, were very active in the “negro” slave trade.

    Jews such as Mordechai Cohen, Eliezer Marks, Isaiah Moses, the Levy clan of Mississippi, along with David Franks and Benjamin Levy—who as “Merchants Of Philadelphia”—petitioned to halt a pending duty levied on the heads of their imported slaves.

    Yet with all of Jewry’s attempts to erase their participation in the slave trade,

    not a peep out of them to take down the statue of Judah Benjamin, the Jewish Secretary of State of the Confederacy.

    Their line on Benjamin is he wasn’t a ‘contemptible white slave owner.’

    Rather, in a rags-to-riches story, his 213 slaves on his sugar cane plantation, was simply a “clever investment.”

    The more things change the more Jews protect their own.

    And, as Rahm Emanuel said, never let a crisis go to waste.

    That’s exactly what the SPLC and the ADL did with Dylann Roof who killed 9 people at a black church in Charleston, South Carolina, and it set the whole thing off.

    You see, they took a really sick white kid on drugs, scraped up a photo of him holding a semi-automatic and Confederate flag, and turned him into a ‘white supremacist.’

    The Jews finally got the ammunition to launch their war on Confederate memory, and to further push “White guilt” on the majority of Americans.

    Politically correct politicians, and the Jew-owned main stream media, jumped right in.

    “Take down the symbol of hatred,” screeched the New York Times.

    “It’s the American Swastika!” shrieked another headline.

    And one of the first out of the gate to launch the assault after the shooting was Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen.

    His demand?

    That the name of legendary cavalryman, Nathan Bedford Forrest, be removed from Forrest Park in Memphis and his bust gone from the capital.

    Will he have the park renamed Cohen Park? That’s where we headed with all of this.

    And Jewry’s shill, Nikki Haley, quickly signed into law the removal of the Confederate battle flag from the State Capitol grounds.

    Look. The confederate flag is not a symbol of hatred, it’s an object of hatred.

    The flag doesn’t belong to Dylann Roof, nor to the Jews to dispose of as they wish.

    Rather, it was a ‘military’ flag used in battlefields to distinguish the Southern Greys from the Union Blues, just like the uniforms.

    It belongs to all Americans in general, and the Southerners in particular, which includes the whites, the blacks, and the Cherokee Indians, who fought in the Confederate army.

    But, the Jews decide what Americans can have and what they should be denied.

    What’s next?

    Smash Mount Rushmore?…since Washington and Jefferson were ‘slave holders,’ which was an accepted, lawful institution at that time.

    They’re prosecuting stones and fabrics of the past with the ‘politically correct’ BS of today.

    Politically-correctness is one thing.

    But when it’s weaponized, only Jewish culture survives.

    Dear Real Jew News Family,

    I’m in SERIOUS trouble.

    Ever since PayPal BANNED me two months ago I’m in a life and death HORRIBLE struggle to survive. It’s VERY oppressive.

    What has happened is that the MANY monthly-recurring donations that came in automatically via PayPal is OVER.

    This is a BIG BLOW. (I was teetering at the edge when I had PayPal, but now that it has BANNED me, I need to recover my funding base.)

    Sadly, only a few have reverted their monthly-recurring donation to my Click And Pledge venue @ https://connect.clickandpledge.com/w/Form/b783a9c0-c8f5-459b-8e7a-e4ad02c23f79

    I am now in debt.

    Due to the PayPal ban and low numbers of donations, I had to borrow money from a credit card offer so as to barely stay online.

    I have sponsorship for my Street Evangelism BUT my online ministry is teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. It is VERY depressing and VERY oppressive.

    FOR ME TO CONTINUE I’m requesting special financial assistance via donations during this crisis period…(of which, Christ WILL deliver me.)

    PLEASE CONSIDER floating me a loan for $5,000 or $10,000 and I will arrange a 12 month repayment with a notarized IOU.

    Like many folks, in my isolation I had spent a lot of my life blissfully ignorant of the world wide deep rooted influence/shenanigans of the “wandering who” Only being tutored some what by one particular (Great) religious teacher & father & uncles.

    +BN’s latest video on the `Confederacy erasure` highlights the fury I remember experiencing personally when the flag was removed, me a none American (though in spirit.)

    Like the Balklands war when NATO (‘Merkia) bombed Serbia & what happenend to the patriot Sloberdan Milosevich, my lone feelings ran high. When I found RJN, I too felt “I had come/found home”.

    The point needs stressing, no known person in the world today HAS THE INSIGHT, COMPREHENSIVE UNDERSTANDING, & IMPLACABLE DETERMINATION TO EXPOSE THE FACTUAL TRUTH AS BROTHER NATHANAEL.

    As for commentors referring +BN to other web domains they would be doing their countries a service if they referred them to him!

    Brother Nathanael,

    I read and view with great interest all you have to say, but what is it that regular people like myself can actually do?

    I see all the horrors you speak of, but what steps can I take to correct it?

    Is there a call to action here somewhere?

    Kind Regards

    Excelllent expose on the sin of favoritism that the Apostle James warned of.

    Thanks, Brother Nathanael.

    It never ceases to amaze me how men forfeit eternal life for the most simple of sins. But as the godly grow in Grace, the ungodly shrink in moral ineptitude.

    And both are about to reach a fever pitch so that people can see how vast the chasm is between the two.

    Genocide of the mind.

    Slowly by generations, history will be all but a lie.

    Perhaps I can find some way to insert myself as a great spiritual king.

    By the year 2080 I could be in the hologramed articles of history. Never mind — I’m not Jewish.

  15. Greg June 1, 2017 @ 11:06 am

    Americans have been dumb downed on this subject by our school system they think the Civil War was over slavery.

    I even didn’t start to learn the truth until recently.

    I think removing the monuments is having a reverse effect as people are now waking up and doing research.

    Another truthful video by Brother Nathanael.

    I wonder if any kids in the nation are getting suspensions if they use this information in their grade school or high school history classes….

    Br. Nat, I was just reading Mike S. King’s website (TomatoBubble.com), and the article he wrote on it will certainly knock your socks off – that is, if you haven’t read it already.

    Mr. King’s article deals with the utter depravity of the Redstone Dynasty, especially that of the 93-year-old patriarch, Murray Rothstein aka Sumner Redstone. I won’t go into the extremely sordid details, Brother.

    If you do get into his website and read it, be prepared for a total shock.

    I told Mr. King in my comment on his article that you have singing talent as well as writing talent. I know you live far from the King family (they live in New Jersey), but you and they can converse with each other by email when you’re not away preaching the Gospels.

    And, I’m glad you’ve resumed your travels. You have the Holy Trinity guiding you, both in your travels and at your Priest River residence, producing your videos and articles.

    I’m shocked and outraged that those two evil Jewish organizations (SPLC and ADL) have been behind the removal of Confederate monuments and flags in Southern states. These two organizations are not only Jewish ones, but also Bolshevik ones.

    Bolsheviks in the former USSR did the same to monuments of the Tsarist era, as well as those of Orthodox Christian saints and Churches. The pulling down of the Statue of Robert E. Lee atop his horse in Louisiana is especially appalling.

    He was the enduring symbol of the Confederacy, and the Bolshevik Jewish organizations (SPLC and ADL) knew it. That’s why they ordered it pulled down.

    The fact that these Bolshevik and Zionist Jewish groups would do such a thing isn’t new, as you know well. You’ve dealt with them for a long time.

    I wish you the best and pray for you daily (I have a long list of people I pray for, btw).

    God bless you now and forever.

    Most of Jew written history is utterly false.

    The present action against the Confederate flag, monuments, and so forth is just another manifestation of Jew revenge on anyone who dares to contradict their “historical” narrative of lies.

    The SPLC is not southern, nor legal, nor having to do with poverty. It is a “though police” muscle arm of Jew, Inc. organized crime.

    Brother Nathanael,

    I’m sending you a small donation via snail mail.

    It’s all I can afford right now. I agree with about 80 to 90% of what is on the website but do wish there was more looking into what the Scriptures say about our times.

    The Devil can’t be defeated by humans. It requires divine intervention.

    Jews and Blacks were the major promoters of American slavery. Some Blacks were so rich they owned their own slave ships built by Jewish manufacturers.

    Jews profited highly in dozens of ways. But somehow, the guilt for American slavery got dumped on the White Christian population which had very little to do with it. Maybe, 2-3% of White Christians before the Civil War owned slaves in America.

    Most Confederate soldiers didn’t fight the Civil War to preserve slave plantations owned mostly by rich Jews and Blacks but fought to keep their houses from being burned down or their wives and children from being raped and kidnapped by the invading hordes of Union soldiers.

    You are correct.

    That vile organization, the SPLC, has a list of Confederate Monuments. There is an area where they want readers to report monuments that are not on the list.

    I used it to express my feelings of contempt toward them.

    The attack on Confederate symbols is an attack on all whites. They have plans to erase Washington, Jefferson etc from our shared heritage. Don’t let them.

    Please join me in sending the SPLC a message via their website.

    Brother Nathanael,

    Have you listened to Putin’s recent speech at SPIEF ’17? He mentioned about anti-semitism and ‘not-all-Jews’ as he was comparing how the MSM is putting all the blame on Russia.

    Now I know for a fact that literally it’s not all Jews.

    You, Brother N, are the prime example of that. But with Putin’s structure saying that phrase, he may have pushed further to undermine the very few men like you who dare speak openly about the Jews.

    Even the very monstrous Jew is gonna hide behind that phrase just like they’ve been hiding behind the word ‘Holocaust’. Just when the world should be waking up about the Jewry.

    What’s your take on this Brother N?

  36. KathJuliane June 4, 2017 @ 12:15 am

    God bless you, dear +BN

    This has to be one of the most important and bravest Videos that you have ever done about ‘damnatio memoriae’ — the damnation of memory as a political tool, a method of social engineering and cultural cleansing of the Southern States (for now) but it will not stop at just Confederate memorials.

    Since 2015, the Left and the Jewmedia’s Confederate flag idiocy has been discussing tearing down the Jefferson Memorial in the US Capitol, rename Washington, D.C., changing the U.S. flag — the list is endless.

    On second thought, they should just change the name to Israel, D.C., and be done with it.

    I’ve ordered a Confederate battle flag to hang in my window if for nothing else because it has now become the personal flag of resistance to the United States of Israel and political correctness.

    In fact, I’m inclined to draw a variation of the Confederate battle flag which has 50 stars in the saltire cross, rather than 13, as the resistance flag to the international interventionist Judeo-Neocon Axis of Weasels.

    Between the arms of the saltire cross on the blue fields, maybe I’ll put in the Axis of Resistance colors of Syria, Iran, Russia & Hezbollah!

    This Damnation of Confederate Memory and the purge being left in the wake of leftist progressive race-baiting social justice snowflake “counter-memory” efforts to somehow completely expunge Southern (and then Northern, than all of White America) public memory has ticked me off, especially since it’s been 150 years since Reunification.

    “Congratulations! You oppose the battle flag of an army that was defeated 150 years ago. We’re all very proud of you, Social Justice Special Snowflakes!”

    You fools and your Confederate flag idiocy remind me of the the Taliban’s destruction of the ancient Buddhist statues, and the Zionist Jewish state’s constant efforts since the 1940s to expunge everything of Palestinian Christian and Muslim history and culture as part of their ongoing ethnic cleansing.

    And I can’t forget the US’ hand in the overall destruction of Iraqi monuments and antiquities as well.

    The fact that it was the US Army which famously toppled Saddam Hussein’s statue in the Iraq War and not the Iraqis themselves.

    http://www.theguardian.com/world/video/2013/mar/09/saddam-hussein-statue-toppled-bagdhad-april-2003-video

    And there wasn’t that big of an Iraqi crowd cheering the Americans on.

    Then followed that noble (sarcasm) era of US military occupation after the fall of Bagdhad in an orgy of cultural cleansing: targeted assassination of over 400 academics; museums, ancient sites and antiquities were looted and vandalized, libraries were burned representing the enormous loss ancient and irreplaceable documents; and the kidnapping and the forced flight of thousands of doctors, lawyers, artists and other intellectuals to outside the hapless country.

    Oh, yes, and there’s something Stalinesque about the Jewmedia’s obsessive war on the South. Officials who fell out of favour with the Soviet leader would not only physically vanish, but could also be made to disappear from photos and official documents.

    The most famous case was probably that of Nikolai Yezhov, nicknamed ‘The Vanishing Commisar’.

    The borderline psychotic murderer of the “Emanuel nine” has done something particularly bad, but he isn’t the only person capable of evil out there. Getting rid of a flag or a monument is hardly the remedy for any racism and violence (particularly against white Christians instigated by the liberal Black racebaiters ) that infects our culture.

    How juvenile to think otherwise, but the War on American History must go on!

    +BN, I think your stunning observation is correct, that this entire thing is a massive effort of Jew Power, typically led by the ADL and SPLC to obfuscate and ultimately bury the Jews own historial predominance in the Trans-Atlantic slave trade between Africa and the Americas.

    They are, of course, the Chosenites who are divine sparks of light destined to repair the world with it’s global Zionist Nationalist empire, with the “most moral army in the world.”

    Heaven forbid that any ‘anti-Semite’ should blasphemously tarnish the Jew’s self-deification and marketing brand with something so profane as pointing out just what a slave-mongering hegemony Jews had in the Americas.

    I’ve been researching on and off the history of slavery, especially the historical predominance of the Jews in the centuries of white, European and Slavic slave trade, as well as their role in the world-wide Arab-Muslim slave trade, and the African Trans-Atlantic slave trade.

    Slavery was not just a “white thing” in the South, and for quite a long time in the North until the Northern states began to pass abolition laws. There were approximately 319,599 free blacks in the United States in 1830. Approximately 13.7 per cent of the total black/colored population (4,378,506) was free.

    A significant number of these free blacks were the owners of slaves. The census of 1830 lists 3,775 free Negroes who owned a total of 12,760 slaves.

    William Ellison was a very wealthy Black plantation owner and cotton gin manufacturer who lived in South Carolina. According to the 1860 census just prior to the War Between the States (in which his surname was listed as “Ellerson”), he owned 63 black slaves, making him the largest of the 171 black slaveholders just in South Carolina alone.

    Why aren’t these black people being pilloried?

    +BN mentioned some prominent American Jewish slavers’ names. Here’s another one. The oldest synagogue in America was built by the immensely wealthy Aaron Lopez (1731-1782), a Jewish slave trader.

    A converso Portuguese Catholic crypto-Jew, born and baptized Duarte Lopez, he became the wealthiest person in Newport, Rhode Island, in British America through his varied and extensive commercial ventures particularly slave trading.

    Now after seeing your Vid, I’m motivated to dig deeper into the Civil War, its political causes, and Confederate history, which I know very little about beyond what I learned in US History in a California high school. And then there is Lt. Gen. Nathan Bedfort Forrest.

    Two of my maternal ancestors originating from the very prolific Colonial New York/Connecticut Fancher tribe of my family tree fought in the Civil War. The Fancher tribe with its various clans (really, they multiplied like rabbits) fought in the War for Independence under Washington, and 70 years later in the Civil War — on opposite sides.

    In fact, there were dozens of Fanchers who fought in the Civil War, and as many Confederate Fanchers who died fighting for the South as there were Union Fanchers who died fighting for the North.

    On hearing Forrest’s name in your Vid, I decided I must learn more about this man.

    He seems to be one of the most hated Confederate heroes outside of the South, and I’ve noticed that his very name elicits this knee jerk reaction: “Bedford was a Grand Wizard of the KKK” and an “evil white supremacist”. A couple of things I did know about Lt. General Bedford — his battle tactics are still studied today in places like West Point, and the KKK actually had three movements, with the first one nothing like the later two.

    I’ve ordered a couple of highly recommended biographies of Forrest written by Southern academic historians, and found archival copies of biographical books written about him.

    Even a cursory internet search has revealed that there is much more to the fascinating man than meets the eye, especially in the Northern court of public opinion.

    David Duke is some 40 years past giving anyone kooties from the days he was a member of the KKK.

    He made an excellent video 5 or 6 years back about the Jewish slave trade inspired by the original research conducted by Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam published as “The Secret History of Blacks and Jews,” then put out a revised version: The True World Masters of Slavery…. Do You Still Believe It Was The White Man?

    Don’t miss this gem by Dontell Jackson:

    We Thought They Were White: An African-American apologizes for misattributed perceptions of white racism against blacks perpetrated by Jews

    Hello and welcome to my website We Thought They Were White. My name is Dontell Jackson, and like many African-Americans, I was brought up in a culture deeply infused with propaganda designed to lay the blame for all of the black race’s ills on the white man.

    It was not until I began looking into the actual history of blacks, whites, and other races in America, that I came to realize that many if not most of the resentment that African-Americans harbor regarding our long history of abuse and exploitation has been intentionally misdirected by those who are most responsible for it, to shift the blame away from themselves as a people onto the white race who they regard as their enemies.

    The reality is that the white race had little to do with the slave trade that took our ancestors away from Africa and sold them into bondage in the New World. That crime was committed not by White Europeans, but by Jews who were engaged in transatlantic commerce between the Old World and the Americas where they hoped to establish a New Jerusalem from which to rule the world by way of exploiting all races who were not members of their tribe of “chosen people.”

    In their efforts to accomplish that goal, the white race has been hoodwinked and manipulated as unsuspecting pawns almost as much as the black race has been.

    Blacks have been purposely misled by the Jewish people who, in previous centuries, built their fortunes in the transatlantic slave trade, and who continue to manipulate and exploit us even today. Because most black people make no distinction between Jews and whites, it is easy for the Jews to evade justice and escape the blame for the wrongs that they have inflicted on our people for centuries by convincing blacks that it was the white man who did it.

    In most cases the vast majority of the white race had nothing to do with slavery or other crimes that have been committed against our people. Whites were and continue to be exploited and manipulated by the Jews, the same as blacks, and their race is even more hated by the Jew, where blacks are simply disregarded by the Jews with indifference, as are other races.

    We are all simply pawns to the Jews who have no other use for us beyond being a source of profit to them and a weapon that can be used to help destroy whites, who they see as their sworn enemies, by encouraging us to breed with them until there are no longer any whites left.

    I would like to invite all of my black brothers and sisters to join me in untangling the lies, deceptions and half-truths that have been foisted upon us as a race, and to explore the true history of what has been done to us as a people by those who were more than happy to encourage us to think these wrongs were committed against us by whites, when in reality those crimes were carried out by Jews.

    Please feel free to share the information that I have presented on this site with as many of your friends, relatives, and associates as possible, so that we as a people can gain greater freedom through knowledge of the truth which is the only thing that can set us free from the state of subjugation, manipulation, and exploitation at the hands of those who have and who continue to deceive us.

    Let us educate ourselves as a people by sharing this knowledge of the truth among all of our race so that we can at last break free of the bondage of the lies and superstition that have enslaved our minds and our spirits.

    Back in August 2015, Lt. General Bedford’s statue was vandalized (again!) by someone who spray painted “Black Lives Matter” on it.

    News Channel 3: MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The monument to Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest has again been targeted by vandals.

    Over the weekend, someone sprayed the words ” Black Lives Matter” on the concrete base supporting the statue of Forrest on horseback.

    Forrest and his wife buried in the base of the monument, which Memphis City leaders want removed from UT’s Health Sciences Park.

    The spray paint incident comes one year after the death of 18-year old Michael Brown.

    Mike Junior is a distant cousin of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest, “Not sure if the compound I have is strong enough…”

    Junior came to the monument with cleaning tools in hand.

    He was outraged to see vandals struck again.

    “Immediately I decided to take off work and come down here and clean it up, do the best that I can,” Junior said.

    He’s all too aware of the controversy surrounding the monument and how Memphis City leaders want it moved.

    “How would you like it for somebody wanting to dig up your relatives or your family or your child. It’s sickening.”

    It didn’t take long for images of the vandalism to show up on wreg.com and other social media.

    Just about everyone passing by the monument wanted a closer look.

    One of them was Kirstin Cheers of Memphis, “I actually saw it on Facebook. a few of my friends posted pictures on Facebook.”

    She said she supports what the message stands for, “I think it’s very symbolic. And I wish that our city and our country can actually start having a conversation about “Black Lives Matter.”

    How about starting with a conversation about Lt. General Nathan Bedford Forrest first?

    Of all places on the internet to come across something remotely positive about Forrest, the last place I would expect would be the left-leaning Huffington Post.

    This article was written by a white political science professor in Georgia who has no great love for the “the South” it would seem, and starts foaming at the mouth at the thought of the KKK.

    He made some interesting statements about Forrest, enough for me to do more research on his life.

    After reading this, though I say to the BLM and the race-baiting black liberals and the vicious little white antifa jackasses, you need to rethink Forrest.

    In the last 10 or 12 years of Bedford’s life, not mentioned in this article is the fact that he gradually evolved into a devout Christian, and renounced his old racist views. He struggled with an extremely quick temper, and his old gambling vice still had a grip on him.

    He attributed the 35 years of prayers of his beloved wife as the source of his repentance and a gift from God.

    A man of his times, his racism had, in large part had already been softened by his experience of loyalty, courage, and bravery of his own black slave troops who were part of his elite Escort cavalry on the battlefield.

    In recruiting them, Forrest told them that if they fought with him, that he would emancipate them if the South won the war, but that if the North won, they’d be emancipated anyway.

    As the war dragged on, beginning to believe that he might be “called home” before the end of it, Forrest manumitted all of his black troopers. Most chose to stay with Forrest as free blacks and continued to fight with their boss to the end of the war. About 20 or so returned as freemen to

    His later Christian conversion and renunciation of his racist views are largely overlooked in the popular narrative.

    Never losing his legendary Southern honor and sense of justice, law and order, Lt. General N. B. Forrest essentially became the first true civil rights leader after the Civil War in the history of the United States.

    HuffPo: General Nathan Bedford Forrest Versus the Ku Klux Klan

    Think that if he were alive today, General Nathan Bedford Forrest would embrace Dylann Roof, the alleged killer of nine blacks in a Charleston Church who hoped to start a race war?

    Think again. In fact, toward the end of his life, General Forrest would have likely sought to exterminate those who would kill blacks in his name, or for his “cause,” like Roof.

    Sure General Nathan Bedford Forrest may have helped lead the Ku Klux Klan, and he’s blamed for the massacre of Ft. Pillow, but there’s a part of Forrest that needs to be told to those who continue to cheer him as a champion of the South. He eventually saw the light, softened his racism, and eventually worked to destroy the KKK. It was the best thing he ever did.

    Forrest is a controversial figure today. He’s memorialized in a statue off Interstate 65 in Nashville, and I see it every time I visit my parents, who live one exit away. That statue, designed by the attorney for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassin, also surrounded by Confederate flags, is the subject of debate, as is the bust of him in the Tennessee statehouse, a response to Roof’s slaughter of African Americans after a bible study.

    Now I’ve never been a fan of General Forrest. I wrote a column criticizing Generals William T. Sherman and General Nathan Bedford Forrest for their actions during the Civil War a week before the shooting, and published other articles in the past calling for Mississippi not to honor Forrest on a license plate, and Memphis not to have a statue for him.

    But even this Forrest critic can admit that the Klan founder did one great thing for this country. He disbanded the KKK, and even worked to fight those who wanted to keep it going.

    As Ben Phelan with PBS writes:

    “After only a year as Grand Wizard, in January 1869, faced with an ungovernable membership employing methods that seemed increasingly counterproductive, Forrest issued KKK General Order Number One:

    “It is therefore ordered and decreed, that the masks and costumes of this Order be entirely abolished and destroyed.” By the end of his life, Forrest’s racial attitudes would evolve — in 1875, he advocated for the admission of blacks into law school — and he lived to fully renounce his involvement with the all-but-vanished Klan.”

    If you read Eddy W. Davison’s “Nathan Bedford Forrest: In Search of the Enigma,” on page 464 and 474-475, you can see that Forrest not only publicly disavowed the KKK and worked to terminate it, but in August 1874, Forrest “volunteered to help ‘exterminate’ those men responsible for the continued violence against the blacks.”

    After the murder of four blacks by a lynch mob after they were arrested for defending themselves at a BBQ, Forrest wrote to Tennessee Governor Brown, offering “to exterminate the white marauders who disgrace their race by this cowardly murder of Negroes.”

    So for those who seek to kill blacks while waving a Confederate flag, or those who burn African American churches across the South, including my state of Georgia, keep this in mind: General Nathan Bedford Forrest, and the Confederate War heroes you worship, wouldn’t have approved. In fact, they might have fought you for your illegal actions.

    John A. Tures is a professor of political science at LaGrange College in LaGrange, Ga.

    ( huffingtonpost.com/john-a-tures/general-nathan-bedford-fo_b_7734444.html )

    Though his wife had difficulty curtailing Forrest’s gambling, as he became physically weaker from chronic dystentary contracted from some form of malarial infection, he surrendered more and more control of his life to Mary Ann. There roles were changing because of his declining condition, but there were some things he did out of conviction and not to please another, even his wife.

    In the winter of 1875, Forrest finally made a formal spiritual commitment that seemed to profoundly affect his remaining days. This religious conversion took place at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.” — Davison, Eddy W; Nathan Bedford Forrest: In Search of the Enigma, p. 478

    After slowly wasting away, the disease had ravaged his frame and reduced him to a one-hundred-pound skeleton of a man who had to be carried, “in the last month or so before his death, Forrest was visited by a wide array of former soldiers who made the trip to see the old general before it was too late,” along with his former Commander-in-Chief of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis.

    “None of them could believe how badly his condition had worsened. Maj. Charles Anderson noted ‘that he didn’t appear to me to be the same man I used to know so well.’

    “Forrest was aware of how he had changed and told Anderson, ‘Major, I am not the man you were with so long ago and I knew so well. I hope I am a better man. I’ve joined the Church and am trying to live a Christian life…I want you to know that between me and…the face of my Heavenly Father, not a cloud intervenes.'” — Davison, Eddy W; Nathan Bedford Forrest: In Search of the Enigma, p. 479

    Forrest was just 56 years old when he died.

    “They all came out to honor him at his funeral. The politicians were there, and the citizens, the generals and the soldiers.

    “Some three thousand African-Americans were also there, perhaps as a reminder that, after all, Forrest had also been a man of vision on their behalf calling for their civil rights a hundred years before it became fashionable.

    “The size of the his funeral procession befitted such a man: businessman, civic leader, warrior and reconciler. In spite of other things he was–slave trader, racist, rebel, and some would say a murderer–the tribute was appropriate.

    “It affirmed, as those who have sought to understand him have said ever after, that in the end any attempt to fully understand such a man remains a search for the enigma that was Nathan Bedford Forrest.” — Davison, Eddy W; Nathan Bedford Forrest: In Search of the Enigma, p. 480

    Born of English/Irish stock, Forrest assumed the position of the head of household of a poor farmer’s large family at the age of 16 when his father died as farmer and blacksmith. He threw himself into supporting his mother and his siblings with hard labor and industry, pain, sorrow and tears. Forrest had 12 brothers and sisters, and half of them died of typhoid.

    From his beginnings as a young farmer at the age of 13, Forrest continued to clear land around his widowed mother’s farm. It was “a life of poverty, toil and responsibility,” but with the help of his siblings, the farm grew and returned increased profits, permitting Bedford to purchase additional land for more crops, and slaves to help work the land. Some 45 of his slaves came to war with him handpicked to make up about 20% of his elite Escort cavalry.

    As Forrest matured into his early 20’s, he was tutored in the business world by an uncle and other relatives and sharpened his business acumen on his crop and land deals, and eventually became a self-made millionaire. In 1851, as the Forrest farm holdings increased, as did his income, Bedford could afford to employ slave labor to work the expanding farmland.

    The scope of his business, too, now having outgrown Hernando, Forrest moved to the bustling, booming river port of Memphis. There he dealt in cotton, in plantations, in livestock and, as an offshoot to his other business, he now found it economically expedient to get into another accepted commerce: the slave-trade business.

    Testimony is unanimous that besides the ordinary good business practice of looking after the physical well-being of the slaves he bought and sold, he went to lengths to keep families together, and even to reunite them, so as to avoid the painful separations that were too common in the days of the rapid expansion of cotton planting in the lower Mississippi River region; and that frequently he was besought by slaves to purchase them, because of his reputation for kindness and fair treatment.

    In 1858, Bedford Forrest was elected an alderman (city councilman) for the city of Memphis and re-elected in 1859. Early in 1859, Forrest had had enough of the demands of his business trades and thus the real-estate, livestock, and slave business was closed out in Memphis, and Alderman Forrest resigned to settle on his plantation in Mississippi.

    Before the end of the year, however, he returned to make his residence in Memphis, where he was promptly re-elected as Alderman, to serve his unexpired term until 1860. He never reentered the slave-trade business, although he still owned slaves.

    When the war started, he enlisted as a private with the Confederate army, and retired as a general. Uneducated but not illiterate, in war, Nathan Bedford Forrest was a natural tactician who earned the praise of his enemies. Both Grant and Sherman feared this man who entered the Confederate forces a private and left a general. The stories of him are legend.

    After the war, he resumed his business life, including plantation cotton. He paid his black laborers, many who came back with him from the war as freemen, 2 or 3 times what others paid theirs. He even let them carry arms, to the consternation of both Tennessee Democrats and Republicans.

    Forrest said there was no reason black people could not be doctors, store clerks, bankers, or in any other jobs ‘equal’ to whites. He said they were skilled artisans and needed to be employed in those skills so that successive ‘black’ generations would not be dependent on a welfare society. (Forrest was a man of vision).

    To prove his point, when he organized the Memphis & Selma Railroad, Forrest took it upon himself to hire qualified blacks as architects, construction engineers, foremen, train engineers, conductors, and many other high level jobs, not just laborer positions to the consternation of others.

    His life’s path was formed by a variety of twists and coincidences that were often put into motion by the events and circumstances around him, his experiences and thoughts about them, and his own steel will and decisions he made which eventually carried him finally to meet Christ in his last years, having trod the humbling path of God’s providence.

    To a Christian, the “enigma” of N. B. Forrest is not so much about the man, but about the mystery of repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation with God in Forrest’s hidden spiritual life. The message that Forrest had found was that forgiveness and redemption are possible regardless of sins committed and that the soul can be delivered from despair through the mercy of God.

    It is nothing so simple yet profound at the same time, it is the mystery we can glimpse in the great old English hymn, Amazing Grace published in 1779, with words written by the English poet and Anglican clergyman John Newton (1725–1807), former slave trader, who wrote of his own experiences of repentance coming to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

    When Newton was just eleven, he joined his father at sea and began a tumultuous life in the Navy, eventually becoming captain of a slave ship. In a period of four years, however, his life was drastically turned around: he nearly drowned, he married a very pious Mary Catlett, and he read through Thomas à Kempis’ Imitation of Christ.

    In 1754 he gave up the slave trade and joined forces with the great abolitionist, William Wilberforce. A number of years later, he was ordained for ministry, and soon after wrote this great text, declaring that we are saved by the grace, the great gift of God — For God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son,” so that by His death we could choose to have eternal life.

    Newton wrote, “I can see no reason why the Lord singled me out for mercy…unless it was to show, by one astonishing instance, that with him ‘nothing is impossible’”

    “I hope I am a better man. I’ve joined the Church and am trying to live a Christian life…I want you to know that between me and…the face of my Heavenly Father, not a cloud intervenes, ” Bedford confided to his friend.

    Perhaps Bedford even listened to and sang this great old hymn at the Presbyterian church he’d joined. Newton only wrote the words of the poem, it was fitted to music. He would probably have known this Appalachian folk hymn originally as ‘New Britain’. In Bedford’s day when sung in church it would have sounded something like this:

    I do wonder how many Jews belonged to the KKK.

    After all, they profited highly from the slave trade and were very much a part of the Confederacy both as politicians and military leaders.

    It is the perfect disguise to put on white robes and carry a cross. No one would ever suspect any Jews belonged.

    It’s as perfect as Jews hiding among Arabs and Muslims and blaming them for terrorism when, it’s Jews that pushed the remote control buttons that blew up the WTC to start a huge hate war between Christians and Muslims.

    Not so certain that Confederate Generals like Nathan Bedford Forrest, one of the founders of the KKK, didn’t have a little Jewish blood and ancestry. Many claim he did.

    Jews are the masters of deception and masters of disguise. So don’t be surprised that the KKK was just another disguise for the Jews who always considered Blacks to be sub human animals that they despised.

    Yep you’re right again Bro Nat, and the Bible says not to remove things like this put up by our forefathers.

    It’s disrespectful to our ancestors, and sad because it is our history, and it is not mature to at a whim change serious matters with out considering if it is right.

    I want our nation to stop destroying it’s self.

    I feel like our leaders are mostly not grown up about anything.

    I thought when I grew up maybe I would understand them, but now I know that mostly the men and women of America are not men or women at all.

    Brother Nathanael, We love you.

    I remember seeing a few years ago that some Jewish guy got caught pilfering old documents from libraries and universities.

    The cover story MSM provided for him was that he wanted to sell them for money. My impression was he was stealing and maybe also planting documents to whitewash evidence showing when Jews, such as the guy who killed Abraham Lincoln, were involved in hanky panky.

    The ADL’s attempt to rewrite American history as regards the Confederacy may extend more subtly into our libraries and universities.

    Anyone who will refine Roman ruins as part of an old Jewish temple will do anything to redefine their place in history as the victims and the guys in white hats when in fact we know they really are the perps and they all wear black hats.

    By Deception Thou Shalt Wage War…The Day Israel Attacked America in the 1967 War

    Although not mentioned in the Haaretz article below, Israhell became our bestest friend forever in the Middle East after fanatical Judeophile L.B. Johnson and his Jew-infested White House glued together the “unbreakable bond” between the USA and Israhell with the blood of the crew of the USS Liberty in 1967.

    Johnson was influenced in his attitude towards the Jews by the religious beliefs that his family, especially his grandfather (Samuel Ealy Johnson Sr.), who was a member of the Christadelphian church, shared with him.

    Christadelphians believe that the Jews are God’s chosen people, and LBJ’s grandfather once said to him, “Take care of the Jews, God’s chosen people. Consider them your friends and help them any way you can.”

    The Liberty was in dangerous waters at a dangerous time. Fearing involvement in a Middle East war, the US Joint Chiefs of Staff needed rapid intelligence on the ground situation in Egypt. Ships were considered the best option for the job.

    On 8 June 1967, in the middle of Israhell’s pre-emptive Six-Day War — an act of aggression not self-defense — against Egypt, Syria, and Jordan, Israeli aircraft and torpedo boats attacked the neutral USS Liberty while her crew was collecting SIGINT (Signals Intelligence) from Arab, Israeli, and Soviet military communications in international waters some 50 miles off the Gaza Strip 15 miles from the coast of the Sinai Penninsula.
    https://www.nsa.gov/search/?q=USS%20Liberty&page=5

    To this day, 50 years later, the NSA still keeps details of Israel’s belligerent undeclared acts of war on the USS Liberty a secret, despite numerous attempts from various quarters, including the survivors of the USS Liberty and families of the slain, to obtain release of the NSA documents through FOIA.

    There still needs to be a proper investigation as well.

    ~~~*~~~
    Counterpunch: In early June of 1967, at the onset of the Six Day War, the Pentagon sent the USS Liberty from Spain into international waters off the coast of Gaza to monitor the progress of Israel’s attack on the Arab states. The Liberty was a lightly armed surveillance ship.
    Only hours after the Liberty arrived it was spotted by the Israeli military. The IDF sent out reconnaissance planes to identify the ship. They made eight trips over a period of three hours.
    It was a clear day, the 350-foot Liberty was sailing at 10 knots and flying a large US flag. The Israeli Jews claimed they mistook it for an Egyptian barge.
    The ship’s name was on the stern, and its number was on the bow. Except for several small caliber machine guns, the Liberty was unarmed.
    As off-duty officers sunbathed on the deck, Israeli Mirage III fighters, armed with rockets and machine guns opened fire on the defenseless ship with rockets and machine guns.
    A few minutes later a second wave of planes streaked overhead, French-built Mystere jets, which not only pelted the ship with gunfire but also with napalm bomblets, coating the deck with the flaming jelly. By now, the Liberty was on fire and dozens were wounded and killed, excluding several of the ship’s top officers.
    The Liberty’s radio team tried to issue a distress call, but discovered the frequencies had been jammed by the Israeli planes with what one communications specialist called “a buzzsaw sound.”
    Finally, an open channel was found and the Liberty got out a message it was under attack to the USS America, the Sixth Fleet’s large aircraft carrier.
    Two F-4s left the carrier to come to the Liberty’s aid. Apparently, the jets were armed only with nuclear weapons.
    When word reached the Pentagon, Defense Secretary Robert McNamara became irate and ordered the jets to return to the carrier.
    […]
    After the Israeli fighter jets had emptied their arsenal of rockets, three Israeli attack boats approached the Liberty. Two torpedoes were launched at the crippled ship, one tore a 40-foot wide hole in the hull, flooding the lower compartments, and killing more than a dozen American sailors.
    As the Liberty listed in the choppy seas, its deck aflame, crew members dropped life rafts into the water and prepared to scuttle the ship.
    Given the number of wounded, this was going to be a dangerous operation. But it soon proved impossible, as the Israeli attack boats strafed the rafts with machine gun fire. No body was going to get out alive that way.
    After more than two hours of unremitting assault, the Israelis finally halted their attack. One of the torpedo boats approached the Liberty. An officer asked in English over a bullhorn: “Do you need any help?”
    The wounded commander of the Liberty, Lt. William McGonagle, instructed the quartermaster to respond emphatically: “F–k you.”
    The Israeli boat turned and left.
    A Soviet destroyer responded before the US Navy, even though a US submarine, on a covert mission, was apparently in the area and had monitored the attack. The Soviet ship reached the Liberty six hours before the USS Davis. The captain of the Soviet ship offered his aid, but the Liberty’s conning officer refused.
    Finally, 16 hours after the attack two US destroyers reached the Liberty. By that time, 34 US sailors were dead and 174 injured, many seriously [more than two-thirds of the Liberty crew of 294, as a matter of fact].
    As the wounded were being evacuated, an officer with the Office of Naval Intelligence instructed the men not to talk about their ordeal with the press.
    The following morning Israel launched a surprise invasion of Syria, breaching the new cease-fire agreement and seizing control of the Golan Heights.
    Shortly after the attack, the survivors were sworn to secrecy, told to stay away from the press, and then decorated — in secret.
    Within three weeks, the Navy put out a 700-page report, exonerating the Israelis, claiming the attack had been accidental and that the Israelis had pulled back as soon as they realized their mistake.
    Defense Secretary Robert McNamara suggested the whole affair should be forgotten. “These errors do occur,” McNamara concluded.
    http://www.counterpunch.org/2017/06/02/infamy-at-sea-israels-attack-on-the-uss-liberty-50-years-later/
    The USS Liberty is the most decorated ship in the US Navy for a single action, though it was not engaged in battle. In fact, being an intelligence gathering ship, it had no battle capabilities and was only armed with 4 fifty caliber machine guns to ward off unwanted boarders.
    The crew were awarded, collectively, one Medal of Honor, two Navy Crosses, eleven Silver Stars, twenty Bronze Stars (with “V” on it for valor), nine Navy Commendation Medals, and two hundred and four Purple Hearts. The ship was also awarded the Presidential Unit Citation. But all the survivors were ordered never to speak of what they had experienced.
    It took many years and a great deal of suffering before the survivors reached the point where they felt they could no longer keep in inside and had to speak up.
    The Liberty’s captain, William L. McGonagle, was awarded the Medal of Honor, but President Johnson refused to follow tradition and make the presentation.
    The security restrictions notwithstanding, still in effect to this day, books questioning the official position that the attack was an accident began appearing in 1968 and have reappeared periodically since then. Some were written by survivors.
    The Israeli Jews’ unprovoked, belligerent air strikes on the USS Liberty were carried out by warplanes clearly marked with the blue and white Israeli flag.
    President Johnson declared that he would rather see the ship go to the bottom of the sea than embarrass his good friend Israel.
    There are two or three possible and related reasons why Israel would want to sink the USS Liberty:
    –to keep the ship from intercepting radio communications about Israhell’s on-going war crimes of torture and mass murder against hundreds of Egyptian POWs and civilians held at the provincial capital of El Arish in the northern Sinai (there were only two divisions of the Egyptian army stationed near the border — not enough to go on the offensive into Israel);
    –to prevent any interception of Israeli communications from the surprise attack on Syria the next morning in blatant violation of the cease-fire agreement;
    –and, IMO, an attempted false flag to blame the Egyptians for the sinking of the USS Liberty to bolster Israel’s deceptive claims that the Arab combined forces attacked Israel first, and to push America into entering the fight.
    As the USS Liberty did not sink as planned, this objective had to be aborted, and the White House and Tel Aviv had to dance a different tune covering up the USS Liberty’s trespass . As the UK Guardian wrote in 2001:
    By 9.50am, the minaret at El Arish could be seen with the naked eye like a solitary mast in a sea of sand. Although no one on the ship knew it at the time, the Liberty had suddenly trespassed into a private horror. At that very moment, near the minaret, Israeli forces were engaged in a criminal slaughter.
    Three days after Israel had launched the six- day war, Egyptian prisoners in the Sinai had become a nuisance. There was no place to house them, not enough Israelis to watch them, and few vehicles to transport them to prison camps. But there was another way to deal with them.
    As the Liberty sat within eyeshot of El Arish, eavesdropping on surrounding communications, Israeli soldiers turned the town into a slaughterhouse, systematically butchering their prisoners. An eyewitness recounted how in the shadow of the El Arish mosque, they lined up about 60 unarmed Egyptian prisoners, hands tied behind their backs, and then opened fire with machine guns until the pale desert sand turned red.
    This and other war crimes were just some of the secrets Israel had sought to conceal since the start of the conflict. An essential element in the Israeli battle plan seemed to have been to hide much of the war behind a carefully constructed curtain of lies: lies about the Egyptian threat, lies about who started the war, lies to the US president, lies to the UN Security Council, lies to the press, lies to the public.
    Thus, as the American naval historian Dr Richard K Smith noted, “any instrument which sought to penetrate this smoke screen so carefully thrown around the normal ‘fog of war’ would have to be frustrated”.
    Haaretz: Israel Deceived the World in 1967, and Paid the Price for It in 1973
    Israel pretended to be the victim during the Six-Day War, and succeeded in deceiving the world.
    But it failed to prepare properly for the Yom Kippur War, fearing it would be blamed for starting the next war.
    “From the early morning hours today, fierce battles are being fought on the southern front between Egyptian air and armored forces – which have moved toward Israel – and [Israeli] forces that went out to stop them,” the Israel Defense Forces spokesman lied on June 5, 1967.
    Egyptian movement toward Israel had indeed occurred in preceding weeks [mobilizing to their side of the border in the Sinai. But topping the list of military principles is dedication to the mission, not necessarily to the truth, and the mission here was to deceive, in order to allow another two or three days of Israeli advance in Sinai. [The USS Liberty would have intercepted the IDF’s communications
    It succeeded, extremely well. But the huge success of one war sowed the seeds for the failure of the next one six years later – and not just because armies tend to act according to a proven formula, even when the circumstances and methods have become outdated.
    Exhibit number one for the prosecution: The influence of 1967’s deceptions and faked innocence on Israeli avoidance of taking the first strike six years later, on the afternoon of October 6, 1973.
    The opening move of the Six-Day War, Operation Moked (Focus), the raid to destroy the Egyptian Air Force in its bases, subsequently led Prime Minister Golda Meir to hold fire in the hours before the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War.
    It is possible to call this syndrome “Sheep! sheep!” – the opposite of the false alarm of crying “Wolf! wolf!” – which ultimately leads to complacency when the real wolf finally comes.
    Israel had covered itself in sheepskin twice and was revealed in all its wolfishness, so the third time it avoided baring its teeth.
    In 1967, the government of Levi Eshkol and the IDF General Staff, headed by Yitzhak Rabin, ran into a double contradiction when they went out to war: between the diplomatic and military sphere; and between the strategic and operational one.
    The first contradiction is clear. Waiting for an accumulation of support, both externally and internally, scores points on the diplomatic front and is also reflected by the willingness to supply weapons.
    But it also allows the enemy to reinforce, dig in and improve – and raises the price (in blood and time) Israel will have to pay in the fighting.
    The second contradiction stems from the challenge Rabin placed before the Syrian regime in Damascus: To go down to the basement or to go up to the roof – either to put a stop to the harassment and attacks Syria had carried out all through 1966, or to take the risk of full warfare and possible fall.
    Because the practical implication of this threat is restraint with a sell-by date, the Syrian side will find itself prepared to absorb an Israeli strike, and the chances of surprising it will drop.
    When Eshkol, his new Defense Minister Moshe Dayan, Rabin and other members of the small circle of decision makers mulled whether to go to war and when, considering the justifications for and against, they were confronted not just with French President Charles de Gaulle’s warnings and the urgings of U.S. President Lyndon Johnson to avoid firing the “first shot”.
    They were also faced with the most recent report by Mossad head Meir Amit, who believed that Johnson would accept a lightning victory that did not involve the Americans in a conflict with the Soviet Union and the need to save Israel from the Russians.
    They also knew everything depended on the Israel Air Force – and the air force was completely dependent on the element of surprise.
    In Dayan’s own statements, which lulled the world media to sleep over the first weekend of June 1967 by saying “it is too late and too early” to go to war, the deception had already been made.
    During the Sinai Campaign in 1956, Dayan, as IDF chief of staff, dictated to the IDF spokesman the announcement about Israeli forces who “penetrated [into Sinai] and attacked a unit of fedayeen [guerrillas] and took up positions close to the Suez Canal.”
    The capture of a small unit of Israelis disguised as Arab guerrillas was staged and, in an act of overzealousness, an aerial bombing of Be’er Sheva was planned (and subsequently canceled).
    It became apparent that the military part of the 1956 operation was far more effective than the diplomatic part: Israel was accused of aggression, including by the Eisenhower administration, and the UN Security Council rushed to convene and demand a full and unconditional withdrawal from Sinai.
    The diplomatic lesson learned in 1956 by then-Prime Minister (and Defense Minister) David Ben-Gurion for the next time was that the support of a superpower – whether that be France or America – was an essential condition for any Israeli military initiative.
    Lack of such backing during the first week of the crisis in May 1967 led to Ben-Gurion’s tormenting of Rabin, which depressed him and triggered his 24-hour breakdown.
    The military lesson – which had stayed with him from the days of the German Blitz on London during World War II, and reinforced when Egyptian planes bombed Sde Dov airfield in Tel Aviv on the first day of Israel’s existence in 1948 –  was the necessity of opening the war by achieving air supremacy.
    As a result, it was easy for experienced U.S. analysts to anticipate that Israel would have to reduce the numerical superiority of the Egyptian Air Force – which was over twice the size of Israel’s and spread out over 28 bases – and that this would be the main focus of the Israeli military plan: The difference between initiative and defense; between a ground victory in a week to a week and a half, or three weeks of intense fighting with thousands of Israeli soldiers dead.
    This was the basis for the systematic tracking of the preparations of the Israel Air Force, especially during the emergency situation in May and June 1967, and reports on any unusual activities.
    When the opening salvo of Operation Moked was planned, the air force’s operations department made sure to shift the flight paths of planes taking off from the Ramat David air base in the north away from the shortest and most convenient route along the Mediterranean coast, so the planes would not fly over the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv or the homes of American diplomats in Herzliya and Kfar Shmaryahu, just north of Tel Aviv.
    The big lie [or lies within lies.]
    Dayan wrote in his memoirs of his deliberations on June 4 with the former IDF chiefs of Staff Yigael Yadin and Zvi Tsur, along with Military Intelligence head Aharon Yariv, as to which lie to choose: Big or small, active or passive.
    A big lie meant a concocted scenario in which the Egyptians would be the ones who fired the first shot, opened with an aerial and ground attack “in which we returned fire, and that is how the war began,” wrote Dayan.
    He opposed that plan, because “every lie will be found out in the end and could have serious consequences.” This fiction could “waste the moral and just setting of our actions,” he added.
    At the same time, it seems Dayan had forgotten about the Sinai Campaign, and certainly could not know at the time he would return to a similar idea in 1973.
    The small lie, which Dayan preferred, was: “Right after the aerial attack, there will be a general announcement that won’t go into details and won’t say anything about who attacked first – something along the lines of ‘Hostilities broke out,’ and then the background that made it necessary for Israel to break the noose.”
    Even when the air force had destroyed more than 300 Egyptian aircraft, while the Egyptians were reporting they had shot down 40 Israeli air force jets, “We were well served by the Arab boasting and exaggerations,” he said.
    “I asked that no statement be issued – at least not on the first day – about our victories. Our actions should be depicted as a response to the Arabs’ attacks, and in the first 24 hours we should ‘be the ones in jeopardy.’”
    Eighteen months before the Six-Day War, speaking about the Sinai Campaign, Dayan said the deception in 1956 had been directed toward the Americans as much as it was directed at the Egyptians.
    On June 5, 1967, both Washington and Cairo were again deceived. At dawn that day Washington time (noon in Israel and Egypt), in order to assess the situation, the U.S. administration had to rely mainly on the official statements by both sides.
    In a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Dean Rusk, President Johnson wondered whether it was indeed reasonable for him to believe it was the Egyptian tank movement toward Israel – which the IDF spokesman had announced – that had set the war in motion.
    Rusk considered this: “It’s possible. But I’d put more weight on the Israeli claim that they had a large number of Egyptian aircraft headed for Israel, from the sea. But I think it’s just a little too early yet.
    “My instincts tell me that the Israelis probably kicked this off. But I just don’t know yet.” Later in the conversation, Rusk expressed doubts concerning the Israeli claim about the “big tank column” heading toward Israel.
    The small lie was not entirely convincing, but it sufficed to sow doubt that prevented quick decisions against Israel, in the American and international arena, before it achieved its goals on the ground.
    Duplicitous reputation
    Six years and four months later, Israel was the prisoner of the duplicitous reputation it had acquired for itself. This was a mirror image of the previous war.
    In 1967, it was taken for granted – based on Israel’s defense doctrine, the difficulty of keeping the reserves called up and the addition of Dayan (and Menachem Begin) to the government – that at some point Israel would attack.
    Nasser indeed surmised that such an attack would come, and he preferred to absorb the blow on the assumption that he would manage to contain it, swing into attack mode and make diplomatic gains as the victim.
    In 1973, then-Egyptian President Anwar Sadat declared that in the absence of diplomatic progress toward the return of Sinai to Egypt, he would go to war. But Meir and Dayan preferred, for diplomatic reasons and based on the assumption that the military blow would not be too costly, to wait for the Egyptians to strike.
    On the morning of Friday October 5, in light of the reinforcements on the Egyptian front, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. David Elazar said in the weekly discussion with the defense minister’s staff, “I don’t have sufficient proof that this isn’t going to be an attack” – thereby nullifying the intelligence assessment and superseding it with preparation for war.
    The conclusion was neither a preemptive strike, nor a call-up of reserves, nor implementation of the emergency plans for deployment of the standing army.
    Dayan forbade “troop movements, unless it really begins,” adding, “We want the Americans to tell the Russians what is going to happen, to tell them with 100 percent confidence that Israel is not about to attack or do anything.
    “If in 1967 it began and no one knew who was suspicious of whom, now it is necessary to try to break this cycle of sleight of hand.
    “In the relationship we have with [U.S. Secretary of State Henry] Kissinger, is it possible to ask him to call [Soviet Ambassador to Washington Anatoly] Dobrynin and also tell him that Israel isn’t doing anything and what about their clients, or not?
    “Clearly, it’s necessary to ask Golda [Meir], to tell her that our line is to create the alibi that we aren’t going to do anything. To give them a promise, that on our part there are no aggressive intentions.”
    This promise was given three times the following day: in a cable to Kissinger, which was handed to his deputy at the National Security Council, Brent Scowcroft; in a conversation between Meir and Kenneth Keating, the U.S. ambassador in Tel Aviv; and again to Kissinger.
    Israel boxed itself in from all directions and threw away the key.
    There was no basis to the illusions held by Elazar and Israel Air Force Commander Benny Peled that Dayan would circumvent this commitment by some trick.
    A quarter of a century later, Justice Moshe Landau, a member of the Agranat Commission in 1974, justified the decision not to call up the reserves: “Both Golda and Dayan feared that such a call-up would create a false impression that Israel was about to initiate a war, something that was liable to have led to the imposition of an embargo on essential U.S. arms supplies.”
    Two hours after the Egyptians and Syrians opened fire in 1973, the Washington Special Action Group – a crisis management subcommittee of the National Security Council – convened.
    Scowcroft was there, along with Secretary of Defense James Schlesinger, Deputy Secretary of State Kenneth Rush, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Thomas Moorer, CIA chief William Colby, the NSC’s William Quandt and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Near Eastern and South Asian Affairs Roy Atherton.
    All of them were realistic and experienced, and all of them relied on personal and organizational memory of the way Israel functioned.
    Schlesinger: “Their reputation for veracity is not very high, but if the Israelis didn’t start it it’s the first time in 20 years.”
    […]
    Moorer: “It could be that Israel felt things were getting out of hand and followed their normal reaction and let fly.”
    Atherton: I accept that Israel will preempt when they can. But all the evidence is that they were caught by surprise. This is the last day in the year [Yom Kippur] when they would have started something.”
    […]
    Schlesinger: “This could be part of an elaborate cover story. On Yom Kippur, little Israel was set upon by Arab extremists.”
    […]
    Scowcroft: “And the buildup of Egyptian and Syrian forces has been unmistakable.”
    Schlesinger: “That could argue either way. The Israelis may have seized the opportunity.”
    […]
    Atherton: “The original plan was to attack at nightfall.”
    Moorer: “That argues for the Egyptians and Syrians having started it.”
    The question of who fired the first shot was not decided there, and it quickly lost importance when the leaders of Egypt and Syria began to express pride in breaking the cease-fire.
    For the moment, the Special Action Group decided that “no military equipment should move to either side” – when the only client for such equipment was Israel.
    The Six-Day War must not be isolated from what happened before and after.
    Israel’s reputation, the IDF’s reputation and especially Dayan’s reputation – as the only one who was a member of the leadership in 1956, 1967 and 1973 – stuck to them like a shadow.
    Israel’s leaders were suspected of lying even when they deviated from their customary behavior and actually told the truth.
    The bad check they gave on June 5, 1967, was returned on October 6, 1973.
    Dear Olya,
    I believe something in the way of Russian context to Putin’s comment got lost in the translation.
    Since the context of the discussion was nothing about the Shoah or even WWII, then what Putin said must refer to something else in Russian culture or history, as Megan Kelly’s questions were all about the US intelligence, Clinton, and mainstream media accusations and propaganda about so-called Russian interference in the US elections.
    “Holocaust,” as I’ve understood it, has a different meaning for Russians, who started using the word back in the 1990s to describe the demographic disaster to Soviet citizens in WWII on the Eastern Front — which included the territory of the SSR of Russia and the German push to seize Stalingrad (Volgograd) and Leningrad (now St Petersburg) as well as Moscow.
    At least 20 million Soviet citizens, 1/3 of them soldiers, died in war and from war-related causes (famine, disease, exposure) during the German invasion. The populations of the Russian Federation and Independent States (Former Soviet Union countries) are just now recovering from.
    I remember reading that the population of Russia has finally risen to its pre-WWII numbers.
    Setting that aside, Here’s the excerpt from the official Kremlin English transcript of the Q&A between Kelly and Putin’s answer which contains that one statement:
    Vladimir Putin: What fingerprints? Hoof prints, horn prints? Whose fingerprints are these?
    IP addresses can be simply made up. Do you know how many such specialists there are?
    They will make it look like it was sent from your home address by your children – your three-year old kid, they will organise everything to look like it was your three-year old daughter who carried out the attack.
    There are such IT specialists in the world today and they can arrange anything and then blame it on whoever.
    This is no proof. It is an attempt to lay the blame at someone else’s door. This is not our problem. The problem is in US politics. That is the problem.
    Trump’s team proved more capable during the election campaign. At times, I actually thought the man was overdoing it, really. That is true.
    However, it turned out that he was right, that he found a key to those social groups and voters’ groups that he had bet on, and they came out and voted for him.
    The other team lost. They are reluctant to acknowledge the mistake. They do not want to admit that they did not get it, that they miscalculated.
    It is easier to say, “We are not to blame, the Russians are to blame, they interfered in our election, but we are good.”
    It reminds me of anti-Semitism: the Jews are to blame for everything. The halfwit cannot do anything but the Jews are the ones who are to blame.
    However, we know what such sentiments can lead to. They lead to nothing good. The thing to do is simply to work and think of how to get things right.
    You have just mentioned disinformation. What disinformation? One of the hackers’ planted stories was that Mrs Clinton’s election campaign managers had acted unfairly with regard to other Democratic Party candidates.
    However, when that information appeared in the public domain, the campaign manager actually acknowledged that it was true and resigned. Is that disinformation? It is truthful information.
    Does it really matter who revealed it? They should have apologised to the public and they should have said before resigning, “We will not repeat these mistakes.” But what did they do? They said, “We are not to blame. It is the Russians.”
    What have the Russians got to do with it? Did the Russians engage in pushing through one Democratic Party candidate to the detriment of another candidate?
    Whatever the case might be, we did not do it. They were the ones who did it. Enough. (Applause.)
    http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/54667
    Putin said: “It is easier to say, “We are not to blame, the Russians are to blame, they interfered in our election, but we are good.”
    It reminds me of anti-Semitism: the Jews are to blame for everything. The halfwit cannot do anything but the Jews are the ones who are to blame.
    However, we know what such sentiments can lead to. They lead to nothing good. The thing to do is simply to work and think of how to get things right.”
    From his last sentence, I believe Putin is actually thinking in terms of the historical pogroms against Jews in the Russian Empire.
    Pogrom is a Russian word meaning “to wreak havoc, to demolish violently.” Pogrom is a Russian word designating an attack, accompanied by destruction, looting of property, murder, and rape, perpetrated by one section of the population against another.
    Historically, the term refers to violent and bloody mob attacks by local non-Jewish populations on Jews in the Russian Empire and in other countries.
    The pogroms occurred during periods of severe political crisis in the country and were linked to social upheavals and nationalist incitement in Eastern Europe.
    Similar events also occurred during that period, though on a more limited scale, in the context of the antisemitic movements in Germany, Austria, Romania, and the Balkan countries, and of nationalist and religious fanaticism in Morocco, Algeria, and Persia.
    The Jews of Russia were the victims of three large-scale waves of pogroms, each of which surpassed the preceding in scope and savagery. These occurred between the years 1881 and 1884, 1903 and 1906, and 1917 and 1921. There were outbreaks in Poland after it regained independence in 1918, and in Romania from 1921.
    The attackers came from among the rabble of the towns, the peasants, and the workers in industrial enterprises and the railroads. At the end of this period, the government forces reacted against the rioters and in several places even opened fire on them, leaving a number of dead and injured.
    The pogroms occurred in a restricted geographical region of Imperial Russia – southern and eastern Ukraine.
    There was a combination of aggravating circumstances in Russian Polish Ukraine: the traditional rebelliousness among the Ukrainian masses; a tradition of anti-Jewish hatred and persecutions from the 17th and 18th centuries (the massacres against the Polish-Ukrainian nobility and their Jewish arendars perpetrated by Chmielnicki and the Haidamacks).
    Other contributing factors were: Ukrainian cities were industrializing, so there was a presence of homeless seasonal workers in the factories, railways, and ports; the rise of a rural bourgeoisie and local intelligentsia, who regarded the Jews as most dangerous rivals; and an extremist revolutionary movement which was unscrupulous in the methods it adopted, including manipulation and incitement of the masses for their own ends.
    The first such incident to be labeled a pogrom is believed to be anti-Jewish rioting in Odessa in 1821.
    As a descriptive term, “pogrom” came into common usage with extensive anti-Jewish riots that swept Ukraine and southern Russia in 1881-1884, following the assassination of Tsar Alexander II.
    In Germany and eastern Europe during the era leading up to WWII and during the war, occassionally mobs attacked Jews and their communities in pogroms.
    Jews did plenty to aggravate the peasant masses by their own actions as well as the imperial government, but that’s not the point. There were times when Jews were also used as a means to an end, when revolutionaries would plant rumors and accusations and their propaganda to stir the resentful peasants and laborers up to target the Jews.
    So, from his last sentence, it seems that Putin is comparing the anti-Russian hysteria, accusations and lies exhibited by the Cold War neoliberalcon hawks in Congress, the military and the foreign and domestic intelligence services, the Democratic Party, the Jewmedia, and who knows what else to the incitement and agitation of the old pogroms.
    Russia is being figuratively mobbed by Americans on every level like the Russian Ukrainian Jews were mobbed by gullible, angry, peasants and workers in the old pogroms.
  50. benzion kook June 6, 2017 @ 8:40 pm
    According to Talmudvision, the Russians not only control us national elections, but also state, county and local elections as well.
    They’re partially right. They’re controlled by Russians — Russian Jews — not in Russia but in Jewmerica, as the real enemy within.
  51. Ted Gorsline June 6, 2017 @ 9:37 pm
    The Jewish weaponizing of history is a branch of their “sows ear to silk purse industry” that finds its best expression in Hollywood.
    Build Holocaust centers to turn the perps into the vicitims, have your proxies like ISIS, destroy world history at ancient sites like Palmayra in Syria, introduce hate speech laws to shut down freedom of speech.
    The Jews are a very unsavory and uncivilized people. I am always struck by the ugliness of their architecture such as the glass vulture at Courrour Estate in Scotland, and the new wing added on to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto by jew Robert Schad. It was voted ugliest architecture in all of North America.
    It’s as if there is a deliberate attempt to make the world a more ugly place or maybe it’s just the expression of dead souls.
    Bro,
    You’ve posted many times that you’d be in New York till June 6. I left work early this afternoon driving through North Jersey traffic to get into NY to meet you for the first time and give you a rather large sum of cash, at least for me.
    I parked on 43rd just east of Times Square (because I’ve seen your pictures from Times Square) and walked down to this paved-over little mall area there.
    I spoke to about four NYPD officers throughout the area asking if they had seen you. They hadn’t but they were all impeccably polite in stark contrast to the hyper-arrogant snot-nosed condescending little wussycops I have to deal with in Jersey.
    But even though I didn’t see you all was not lost; I told everyone of them about you and gave them your website as well as my man ChrisBollyn.com and his book Solving 911: The Deception that Changed the World.
    So give me credit for trying!
    BTW,
    I met a lovely woman who was all by herself holding a Jesus placard on a stick and I couldnt help but go up and talk with her.
    She hadn’t heard of you either but was extremely interested. As I was about to leave her, I told her to look up John 8:44.
    It would be my hope that you could possibly partner up with her next time you come into the city. She was standing in this little malled off area on the east side of Times Square between 43rd and 44th Streets.
    Omran Daqneesh’s Father Exposes the MSM!
    Rescued by the Oscar winning White Helmets who know how to put on a good show for their head-chopping Jihadi friends to the applause of the Western media.
    Sputnik tells the rest of the story:
    Published on Jun 6, 2017
    Omran Daqneesh’s photo became a symbol of the tragic state of children in Aleppo.
    The boy’s father, Mohammed Kheir Daqneesh, reveals what happened on the day when his injured son was caught on camera, and how the Syrian militants used his son as a tool in their propaganda fight against the Syrian government.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylXf0UCkh4A
    The Daqneesh family, under occupation in East Aleppo, are Syrian government loyalists.
    Much of the blood on Omran, who was but slightly injured, was his father’s after the house was bombed, and Mohammed sustained some head wounds.
    Omran immediately ran into his bedroom after the strike, his father then picked him up to put in a safe room, bleeding on Omran as he carried him in his arms.
    He then began moving rubble to rescue the rest of his family. While Mohammed was occupied moving the stones and blocks to get to his family, the White Helmets snatched Omran and his sister and put them in the ambulance, and began making photos and videos of the children for propaganda purposes.
    The White Helmets then transported the children to the hospital to make more propaganda, without even telling their father.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylXf0UCkh4A
    Mohammed and Omran were sitting on their sofa when the strike occurred, the boy tucked close to his father’s side. Mohammed’s body mostly shielded Omran who received very slight injuries.
    It explains why Omran wasn’t in a lot of distress or pain posed in the ambulance as he was, the blood on his head, face and clothing was his father’s, and he only noticed it himself and rubbed at it when the White Helmet press was paying so much attention to him.
    This next Arabic site relates that Mohammed stated that he did not hear warplanes or air missiles targeting the house, and that one boy, Ali, died three days later after the bombing.
    Vineyards & Figtrees:
    Will Donald Trump Say Anything About the Attack on the USS Liberty?
    This Thursday, June 8, will mark the 50th anniversary of the Israeli attack upon the USS Liberty.
    Will President Trump bother to pay tribute to the 34 US sailors who lost their lives that day? Will he express any sort of condolences to their families?
    Will he take the time to at least maybe post a tweet acknowledging his awareness of what happened 50 years ago?
    One would certainly hope so, but I find myself doubtful. Thirty-four dead Americans. One hundred seventy-four wounded. This was the result of the attack upon the USS Liberty, an attack which lasted for more than two hours, an attack upon a flagged US vessel that was carried out by an erstwhile putative “ally.”
    But because the “ally” was Israel, I have a strong feeling the president will shy away from saying much if anything at all about it. For the likely result, as we well know, would be a tempest.
    It would be the top story on CNN. More pilloring. More talk of impeachment. More comedians doing jokes about beheading the president.
    Yes. If Trump wanted to be gutsy, he could post a tweet–oh…just saying that the attack occurred, that it was carried out by Israel, and that US servicemen died.
    And if he really wanted to be bold, he could call into question Israel’s claim that it was an accident.
    He could do this by simply mentioning, without giving his own personal yea or nay, what the survivors have contended–that the attack was not an accident, that the Israelis fully knew they were attacking an American ship.
    And if Donald Trump wanted to be, dared to be, fearlessly audacious about all this, if he wanted to engage in a stalwart pursuit of the truth, he could call for a reopening of the official investigation–and if he wanted to be smart and cagey about issuing such a call, he could couch it in terms of paying honor and respect to the men who gave their lives that day.
    He could say we owe it to their memories. We also owe it to their families, to their descendants.
    He could additionally point out that the survivors of the attack are elderly now, and that time for conducting a formal investigation in which they could give testimonies under oath is running out. If we wait another ten years many of them will have passed away.
    All this he could do. But will he?
    One of the Liberty survivors is Ron Grantski, now 70 years old. Grantski lives in Modesto, California, and recently he gave an interview to his hometown newspaper, the Modesto Bee:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSYjTmV1G3U
    The Bee’s print version of the story can be found here.
    http://www.modbee.com/news/local/news-columns-blogs/jeff-jardine/article153082569.html
    The article, by reporter Jeff Jardine, includes the information that someone once left an threatening message on Grantski’s voice mail telling him to “stop talking about the USS Liberty and Israel” or “something will happen to you.”
    It also mentions that Grantski’s job on board the USS Liberty was ship communications. Specifically he was a cryotographer, and one of his duties was to copy the messages that were transmitted. The Liberty was a spy ship.
    It eavesdropped on radio communications, including communications transmitted by Israelis.
    “I had top-secret crypto clearance – the highest you could get,” he told the paper. “They [the Israelis] would change the station in the middle of a message and someone else would say, ‘Ski, he’s on .. ’ whatever station, and I’d switch to that one.’
    They were using lots of Morse Code, and sending at 50 to 70 words per minute, which is pretty darned fast to be copying in code.”
    One message in particular he remembers–a message in which the Israelis talked about attacking a US target and blaming it on the Arabs.
    “Unbeknownst to us, it was our ship that was going to be attacked,” Grantski told the Bee.
    The story also mentions that Grantski currently is in poor health, and that he is unable to attend a meeting of the USS Liberty Association in Norfolk, VA in observance of the anniversary. “But he will be with them in spirit,” Jardine writes.
    And the article closes with a quote from the US veteran: “It’s important that the true story comes out,” he said.
    Suppose Trump were to open a new inquiry into the attack upon the USS Liberty. Suppose, for instance, he appointed a commission specifically for this purpose.
    If the commission’s investigation were to be conducted in a transparent manner–if its proceedings, for instance…including testimonies from the Liberty survivors…were carried out in public–it would go a long way toward fulfilling Trump’s promise to make America great again.
    But of course this would require bucking the Israeli lobby. Trump would find himself in almost open combat with AIPAC.
    Does he have the courage or the will to carry out such an enterprise?
    I seriously doubt it, although of course I would love to be proven wrong.
    @KathJuliane
    Maybe the Zionist bankers wanted to motivate Russian Jews to volunteer to emigrate to Israel and the USA, by designing and also paying for all of the Russian pogroms that you mentioned in your post, above. These bankers possibly thought that there needed to be many more Jews in the USA.
    This transfer of Jews may be very similar to the Zionist Transfer Agreement that involved the rich German Jews volunteering to emigrate to Israel, and also volunteering to pay for Israel’s new infrastructure that was to be supplied by Nazi Germany according to the Zionist — Nazi Transfer Agreement.
    Nazi Germany enjoyed making the big money profits from this Jewish German Transfer Business of the Zionist Nazi Transfer Agreement.
    The real motivation that is hidden and never mentioned about this Zionist Transfer Agreement that involved German Jewish volunteering, is that the Zionist knew that the only possible real motivation behind this German Jewish volunteering could only be by the Nazi persecution of the German Jews.
    Why else would rich German Jews want to emigrate to a hostile land where they would have to fight to survive?
    By the Nazi’s increase of the persecution of the German Jews, the Nazi’s also increased their Zionist Jewish Transfer business and their Nazi money profits.
    Iran Revolutionary Guards blame Saudi Arabia for deadly attacks in Tehran
    Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have accused Saudi Arabia of masterminding the deadly attacks in Tehran on Wednesday, in which at least 12 people were killed. Earlier the terrorist group Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks.
    “This terrorist attack happened only a week after the meeting between the U.S. president (Donald Trump) and the (Saudi) backward leaders who support terrorists.
    The fact that Islamic State has claimed responsibility proves that they were involved in the brutal attack,” said the statement, cited by Reuters.
    Earlier, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, IRGC deputy commander, pledged retaliation for the attack.
    “Let there be no doubt that we will take revenge for today’s attacks in Tehran, on terrorists, their affiliates and their supporters,” he said, as cited by the news agency Mehr.
    Twelve people were reported killed and 43 injured in gun and bomb attacks in the Iranian capital. The perpetrators targeted the Iranian parliament and Ayatollah Khomeini’s shrine.
    Both attacks were claimed by Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), the jihadist organization based in Iraq and Syria.
    Iran supports both countries in their fight against IS. The attacks in Tehran were the first that IS had claimed responsibility for in the Shiite Islamic republic.
    The timing of the attacks, shortly after a presidential election in Iran, may indicate that the perpetrators want to cast doubt on the decision of the Iranian people to give President Hassan Rouhani a second term, Middle East expert Catherine Shakdam told RT.
    “Iran has just conducted quite successfully its presidential election. Everything went according to plan, it was peaceful, it was progressive,” she said.
    “There is a clear desire to drive a narrative of fear and to make people have a sense of insecurity and doubt their officials and how they can protect their own borders.”
    This is looking like a diplomatic war between the pots and the kettles…
    Al Arabiya (Saudi-owned pan-Arab television news channel): Saudi Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s anti-Shia Black Propaganda Screed & Threat to Iran delivered on May 3:
    Q: Can we see a direct dialogue with Iran in the future despite what it is doing in the region?
    How do you communicate with someone or a regime that’s completely convinced that its system is based on an extremist ideology that relies on texts in its constitution and in Khomeini’s legacy and that stipulates that it must control Muslims in the Islamic world and spread the Twelver Jaafari sect in the Islamic world so Imam Mahdi comes.
    How do I convince these of anything? What interests are there between me and them? How do I communicate with them?
    When there’s a problem between me and another state, we begin by solving it. For example, if there’s an economic problem, we communicate and I see what you want and you see what I want and we understand how to address the problem.
    If, for example, it is a political problem, like the case is with Russia and how we communicate regarding Syria, we discuss what their interests are and what my interests are. How do we communicate on Yemen? We discuss interests.
    But with Iran, how do we communicate? Their logic is based on the notion that Imam Mahdi will come and that they must prepare the fertile environment for his arrival and they must control the Muslim world.
    They deprived their own people of development for more than 30 years and put them through starvation. The people have bad infrastructure because the regime only wants to achieve this aim related to Imam Mahdi.
    The regime will not change its mindset overnight; otherwise, its legitimacy inside Iran will come to an end. The mutual points, which we can agree on with this regime, are almost non-existent.
    This regime was tested during more than one phase, like during the time of Rafsanjani and everything turned out to be mere charades.
    The strategy of expansion was adopted after the Khomeini revolution happened. When the world got angry, they brought a peaceful leader and at the time it was Rafsanjani. They did that to gain the trust of the world and our trust. They gained our trust.
    After that they got to another phase of providing a good environment, an extremist leader was assigned so the expansion resumes. This is what we saw during the reign of Ahmedinejad and we saw how they expanded in Iraq, Syria and other areas.
    Then they’d assign another leader to maintain the gains and satisfy the rest of the world. Then they’d again assign an extremist leader to resume expansion.
    This will not happen. This is over. A believer is not bitten from the same hole twice. We were bitten once. We will not be bitten again.
    We know we are a major target for the Iranian regime. Reaching the Muslims’ qibla is a major aim for the Iranian regime.
    We will not wait until the battle is in Saudi Arabia but we will work so the battle is there in Iran and not in Saudi Arabia.
    https://english.alarabiya.net/en/features/2017/05/03/Read-the-full-transcript-of-Mohammed-Bin-Salman-s-interview.html
    The White House has reported that US President Donald Trump is hoping to de-escalate the current situation in the Gulf.
    On Monday, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Egypt cut all diplomatic ties with Qatar. Following the dispute the US said it wanted to avoid any long-lasting break in relations and was hoping to bring the parties together to move the Gulf states “in the right direction.”
    It was Trump himself who had already decided the direction with his first foreign trip in May to Riyadh, where he made it known that Saudi Arabia had Washington’s support, after signing a $110 billion arms deal.
    To recap —
    Trump traveled to Saudi Arabia, Israel’s new best friend, for a recent conference of Arab nations and told Qatar’s ruler at the time that “we’ve been friends now for a long time”.
    Qatar hosts a large American air base — the foreign headquarters of U.S. Central Command — and is helping the Saudis fight Iranian-linked Houthi rebels in Yemen’s civil war.
    During his May 21 speech in Saudi Arabia, Trump called Qatar a “crucial strategic partner.”
    On the 21st, Trump and Saudi Arabia’s King Salman then inaugurated a new state-of-the-art center in Riyadh to monitor and combat extremism.
    As part of the political calculus regarding Iran, the Saudis have drawn exceedingly close to Israel, who, I have little reason to doubt, are really the ones who constructed the Saudi’s high-tech Global Centre for Combating Extremist Ideology complete with goofy lit world globe or “orb” trick. Israeli cyber-tech businesses have been in the Kingdom for years, albeit low profile.
    Trump and King Saruman, er Salman put their hands on the glowing globe to officially inaugurate and activate the center and to launch a Wahabi Sharia-compliant futuristic welcome video in a touching preview from Lords of the Bling with one orb to rule them all.
    In his speech in the Saudi capital, Trump accused Riyadh’s archenemy Iran of supporting terrorism. “Iran funds, arms and trains terrorists, militias and other extremist groups,” he said. Additionally, Trump emphasized that Arab states must ensure that “terrorists find no sanctuary on their soil.”
    Now that they have a True Friend in the White House, the Saudis can resort to regime change in the region more inordinately than they’re already committed to in Syria & Yemen. The kingdom supported Saddam Hussein against Iran in the 1980’s Iraq-Iran War, unhappy with the overthrow of Shah Pahlavi in the Islamic Revolution.
    King Saruman, er Salman Ibn Abd al-Aziz al-Saud was equally enthusiastic about Trump’s call to form a new front against Iran. Now, Qatar is the first to feel the consequences of this new development.
    Why? The official reason for the cutting of ties with Doha is that the emirate supports various terrorist groups, including the Islamic State (IS) and militants in the restive Qatif area in eastern Saudi Arabia and in Bahrain, as well as Islamist groups like the Muslim Brotherhood. Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Manama and Cairo accuse Doha of threatening the stability of the Gulf region.
    On the 24th of May, a mere three days after the inauguration of the Global Centre for Combating Extremist Ideology (Mossad’s home away from home?), Qatar said hackers broke into the website of its state-run news agency QNA on very early on Wednesday the 24th, and published a fake story quoting the ruling emir making controversial comments.
    The fake article quoted Qatar emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani as calling Iran an “Islamic power” and saying Qatar’s relations with Israel were “good” during a military ceremony.
    The Qatari state television’s nightly newscast on Tuesday showed clips of Sheikh Tamim at the ceremony with the anchor not mentioning the comments, though a scrolling ticker at the bottom of the screen had the alleged fake remarks. They included calling Hamas “the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people,” as well as saying Qatar had “strong relations” with Iran and the United States.
    “Iran represents a regional and Islamic power that cannot be ignored and it is unwise to face up against it,” the ticker read at one point. “It is a big power in the stabilization of the region.”
    The hackers also took over the news agency’s Twitter feed and posted quotes from Qatar’s foreign minister alleging a plot against the country by other Arab nations. It said the small, gas-rich nation had ordered its ambassadors from Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates withdrawn over the plot. The tweets were later deleted.
    Now the CIA morons in DC are pointing the finger and blaming Russia for the hack of Qatari News Agency.
    Per Haaretz: “Qatar denies that the emir made that statement and claims that hackers broke into the Qatari news agency’s website and planted those quotes.
    “According to Qatari spokesmen and commentators, this new kind of cyberwar strives to tarnish Qatar’s name. They say it was a conspiracy between the UAE and a pro-Israel lobby working in Washington alongside former administration officials. It allegedly stems from Qatari disputes with Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
    Meanwhile, leaked emails show an exchange between the UAE ambassador in Washington, Yousef al-Otaiba, and the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a research institute founded by Jewish business leaders, including Sheldon Adelson and Edgar Bronfman, who also donated to the think tank.”
    The UAE has sponsored conferences with the neocon FDD advocating regime change against Iran.
    ( haaretz.com/middle-east-news/.premium-1.793817 )
    The purported fake story prompted Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to respond by blocking Qatari media, including broadcaster Al-Jazeera.
    Shortly after, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates severed diplomatic ties with Qatar on Monday and moved to cut off all air, land and sea routes to the country.
    Besides these four Arab states, the US-Saudi recognized Hadi regime with control over half of Yemen (who really runs things from Saudi Arabia) cut off ties with Qatar, as did the Maldives and one of conflict-ridden Libya’s competing governments. Qatar says Kuwait trying to mediate.
    Saudi Arabia (and it’s coalition allies) said it was cutting ties due to Qatar’s “embrace of various terrorist and sectarian groups aimed at destabilizing the region,” including the Muslim Brotherhood, al-Qaida, the Islamic State group and Shi’ite militants supported by Iran in the kingdom’s restive Eastern Province.
    True to form, Trump took credit for and cheered on Gulf countries cutting diplomatic ties with Qatar: “So good to see the Saudi Arabia visit with the King and 50 countries already paying off. They said they would take a hard line on funding extremism, and all reference was pointing to Qatar. Perhaps this will be the beginning of the end to the horror of terrorism!” Trump tweeted.
    He tweeted earlier, “During my recent trip to the Middle East I stated that there can no longer be funding of Radical Ideology. Leaders pointed to Qatar – look!”
    Yet it’s clear that the Gulf states’ decision has not so much to do with terrorism as it does with Qatar’s relationship with Iran, which has long been a thorn in the side of Saudi Arabia.
    The recent spat began several weeks ago after the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, allegedly spoke positively about Iran’s stabilizing role in the region. Saudi media later reported that Qatar’s foreign minister had met in Iraq with the head of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard.
    Additionally, Qatar is said to have congratulated Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on his recent electoral victory, a mortal sin in the Saudi eyes.
    Riyadh has long been bothered by the political independence of Qatar, with its population of less than 3 million, and which sees itself as a mediator in the region.
    Though Doha and Tehran grew closer to each other between 1995 and 2013 during the rule of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and the two countries share claim to a major gas field called South Pars, they are not allies.
    For this reason, Riyadh has long accused Doha of putting its own interests before those of the Gulf Cooperation Council (meaning, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), the intergovernmental union of which both Saudi Arabia and Qatar are members but Iran is not.
    Besides being an act of intimidation, the decision by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt to turn their backs on Qatar is an effort to squeeze the emirate with economic sanctions affecting vital necessities, which is dependent on other countries for key imports like food.
    Iran has promised to ship food to Qatar across the Gulf, a trip which takes only 12 hours, and has given permission for Qatar Airways to divert flights through Iranian air space.
    In an official letter, Saudi Arabia has denied the religious legitimacy of Qatar’s ruling Al Thani dynasty, which some observers already consider a call for the end of the family’s rule — in other words, “regime change”.
    The governments of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia announced today that any sympathy with Qatar or the publication of pro-Qatar material on social network websites would be considered a crime carrying prison terms.
    According to Turkish media, the Turkish ruling Justice and Development Party has accelerated legislation to allow Turkey to deploy troops to a military base in Qatar.
    It appears to be that Turkey is supporting Qatar in the current crisis. In turn, Qatar offers support to Turkey and the Turkish-led armed groups in Syria and Libya.
    Then, as promised by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Bin Salman in early May, today Riyadh sent ISIS to strike Tehran, puffed up and emboldened after ‘anti-terrorism’ pact and yuuuuuggggeee arms deal with Trump, sealed with a warrior’s sword dance, a nudge, wink, and a pat on the back.
    Back in the White House in the good ol’ United States of Israel, what the Commander in Chief is doing with his reckless tweeting egging Saudi Arabia on is putting at risk one of the largest and most important American military installations in the world, home to close to 11,000 U.S. military personnel.
    The Al Udeid U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) military base in Qatar was set up in 2003 after it was moved from the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.
    The base, which boasts a long runway of 12,500 feet, is an important facility for the U.S. as it can accommodate up to 120 aircrafts. The base in Qatar serves as logistics, command and basing hubs for the U.S. CENTCOM area of operations, including Iraq and Afghanistan.
    Qatar could close the base tomorrow, but Trump doesn’t get heartburn over such trifles.
    Press TV: The attack on the parliament happened when at least four gunmen, disguised as women, entered the visitors’ hall of the building, opening fire on the security guards there.
    According to an Interior Ministry statement, the terrorists were all killed before they could make it to the administrative building of the parliament.
    Separately, gunmen attacked the Imam Khomeini Mausoleum in Tehran, opening fire on people inside and wounding a number of them.
    …According to the Interior Ministry statement, the first terror group, comprised of two people, entered the mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini at around 10:30 a.m. local time (0500 GMT).
    The first terrorist blew up his explosives but the second was killed during firefight with security forces.
    Tasnim [News Agency] said earlier that the hostage rescue team of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) had arrested two “terrorists” at the Imam Khomeini Mausoleum.
    An ambulance belonging to the Welfare Organization of Iran was targeted when terrorists fired 16 bullets at the vehicle at the mausoleum. Nobody was injured in the attack.
    Meanwhile, IRNA cited an official with the Intelligence Ministry’s Counter-terrorism Department as saying that several terrorist teams had entered the capital earlier in the day.
    One of the terrorist teams was busted before managing to stage any attacks, while two others attacked the parliament building and the mausoleum. At the shrine, one bomber was killed before setting off his explosives, but another managed to blow himself up.
    Why there were so many dead people in the “Soviet Union” was because the commie Jew bolshevists running it murdered 62 million of the inhabitants.
    If it wasn’t for the falsely demonized Chancellor, who sought to put an end to the “mass murder machine,” it’s certain the jew Commies would have murdered 10’s of millions more.
    The Hill (June 3): CIA creates unit to focus on Iran
    The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has launched a new mission dedicated to collecting and analyzing intelligence related to Iran, according to the Wall Street Journal.
    The mission illustrates that the Trump administration considers the country to be a high priority for the intelligence agency, the Journal noted.
    The CIA has not publicly acknowledged the existence of the organization.
    The organization, dubbed the Iran Mission Center, will include CIA analysts, personnel and specialists to support the CIA’s abilities on the matter, including covert action.
    The report comes after President Trump said he wanted to work with Iran’s Sunni rival Saudi Arabia to “isolate” the Shia-majority nation, during his a trip to Riyadh.
    CIA Director Mike Pompeo, a longtime Iran critic, has also ripped the country, warning in Iran “was on the march.”
    The Iran Mission Center is not the first CIA organization dedicated to gathering intelligence on a nation that is hostile to the U.S.
    The agency announced the creation of the Korea Mission Center, which is focused on curbing North Korea’s growing weapons program.
    South Front: Iran accuse Saudia and USA of Playing Role in Wednesday Tehran Terrorist Attacks
    In an official statement, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) accused both Saudi Arabia and the United States governments of playing a role in the Wednesday terrorist attacks in Tehran.
    The attacks occurred only a week after the US-Arab meeting in Saudi Arabia that called to fight Iran. It is also worth mentioning that Saudi Defense Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, had promised to “move the battle to inside Iran” just days ago.
    Deputy Commander of the IRGC Intelligence, General Mohammed Hussein Najat, said that “It’s not a coincidence that this two operation happened a week after the meeting, meaning that the USA and the Saudi regime ordered their mercenaries to carry out this attacks, and although many citizens and guardians of the revolution were injured or martyred, the terrorists and their masters didn’t achieve their goals.”
    From its side, Saudi Arabia condemned the terrorist attack and its Foreign Minister, Adil al-Jubair, denied the accusation of involvement in the terror assaults. He stressed that Saudi Arabia is not aware whether the attackers were Saudi nationals. Qatar also condemned the terrorist attacks and confirmed that it stands against such acts.
    The IRGC promised to retaliate against the terrorist attacks, where the official statement of the IRGC assured the Iranian people that “It will not be delayed for a moment in defending national security and preserving their lives.”
    C.I.A. Names the ‘Dark Prince’ to Run Iran Operations, Signaling a Tougher Stance
    WASHINGTON — He is known as the Dark Prince or Ayatollah Mike, nicknames he earned as the Central Intelligence Agency officer who oversaw the hunt for Osama bin Laden and the American drone strike campaign that killed thousands of Islamist militants and hundreds of civilians.
    [D’Andrea is, in fact, the architect of the CIA’s “kinetic” (lethal) drone program under Obama, that is, targeted assassination/extra-judicial murder.]
    Now the official, Michael D’Andrea, has a new job. He is running the C.I.A.’s Iran operations, according to current and former intelligence officials, an appointment that is the first major sign that the Trump administration is invoking the hard line the president took against Iran during his campaign.
    Mr. D’Andrea’s new role is one of a number of moves inside the spy agency that signal a more muscular [murderous] approach to covert operations under the leadership of Mike Pompeo, the conservative Republican and former congressman, the officials said.
    The agency also recently named a new chief of counterterrorism, who has begun pushing for greater latitude to strike militants.
    Iran has been one of the hardest targets for the C.I.A. The agency has extremely limited access to the country — no American embassy is open to provide diplomatic cover — and Iran’s intelligence services have spent nearly four decades trying to counter American espionage and covert operations.
    [And the US has spent 40 years denying that the US Embassy in Tehran was a spy nest since the Iranian revolution of 1979 and the Tehran hostage crisis on November 4, 1979.
    Iranian students demonstrating outside of the US embassy in Tehran storm the embassy and take 90 people hostage including 66 Americans. The students demand the extradition of the US-puppet Shah from the United States.]
    “He can run a very aggressive program, but very smartly,” said Robert Eatinger, a former C.I.A. lawyer who was deeply involved in the agency’s drone program.
    Mr. Trump called Iran “the number one terror state” and pledged throughout the campaign to dismantle or revise the landmark deal between Iran and six world powers in which Tehran agreed to limit its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.
    The president has not gone through with that threat, and his administration has quietly recertified Iran’s compliance with the deal. But he has invoked his hard line on Iran in other ways.
    Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson has described the deal as a failure, and Mr. Trump has appointed to the National Security Council hawks eager to contain Iran and push regime change, the groundwork for which would most likely be laid through C.I.A. covert action.
    Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster, the national security adviser, was an armored cavalry commander during the early years of the war in Iraq and he believes that Iranian agents who were aiding Iraqi insurgents were responsible for the deaths of a number of his soldiers.
    [The very same war Bush lied his way into invading, occupying, and terrorizing that hapless country, overthrowing its government and then colonizing the country with a military occupation.
    International law recognizes the right of a people to armed resistance against an aggressor’s invasion and hostile occupation. By definition, an insurgent is a person who rises in forcible opposition to lawful authority, especially a person who engages in armed resistance to a government or to the execution of its laws; rebel.
    Because the occupation’s US-run Provisional Government, the civil arm of the military occupation, was set up under false pretenses and an illegal aggressive war against the people of Iraq, there is little to support the idea that it was a “lawful government” anyone could “rebel” against. It was resistance and self-defense against a very malicious invader, pure and simple.
    If the United States of Israel had never declared “War on Terror” and invaded and occupied Iraq creating chaos, confusion, intra-tribal hatred and vengeance, and cycles of sectarian mayhem everywhere, there would be no al Qaeda and no ISIS today.]
    Derek Harvey, the senior director for the Middle East at the council, is also considered an Iran hawk.
    And Ezra Cohen-Watnick [neocon Republican Jew], the [National Security Council’s] senior director for intelligence — the main White House liaison to intelligence agencies — has told other administration officials that he wants to use American spies to help oust the Iranian government, according to multiple defense and intelligence officials.
    Mr. Pompeo, who represented south-central Kansas in the House, was among the fiercest congressional critics of the Iran deal. Two months before the election, he published an essay in Foreign Policy magazine titled, “Friends Don’t Let Friends Do Business With Iran.”
    He pledged during his Senate confirmation hearing in January that should the deal remain in place, he would keep a fierce watch to ensure Tehran was sticking to the terms.
    “The Iranians are professionals at cheating,” he said.
    In Mr. D’Andrea, the director has found a workaholic to be his Iran sentinel. Mr. D’Andrea grew up in Northern Virginia in a family whose ties to the C.I.A. span two generations.
    He met his wife, who is Muslim, on a C.I.A. posting overseas, and converted to Islam to marry her, though he is not known to be particularly observant.
    Asked whether Mr. D’Andrea’s appointment was a sign that the C.I.A. planned to take up a more aggressive line toward Iran, Mr. Eatinger said, “I don’t think it’s the wrong read.”
    Mr. D’Andrea’s personal views on Iran are not publicly known. It is also not his job to make policy but to execute it, and he has demonstrated that he is an aggressive operations officer.
    In the years after the Sept. 11 attacks, Mr. D’Andrea was deeply involved in the detention and interrogation program, which resulted in the torture of a number of prisoners and was condemned in a sweeping Senate report in 2014 as inhumane and ineffective. Only the executive summary of the 6,700-page report has been made public; the Trump administration has begun returning copies of the full document to Congress, which is not subject to Freedom of Information Act requests, raising the prospect that it will never be released.
    Mr. D’Andrea took over the agency’s Counterterrorism Center in early 2006 and spent the next nine years directing the hunt for militants around the world.
    Operatives under his direction played a pivotal role in 2008 in the killing of Imad Mugniyah, the international operations chief for Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed Shiite militant group based in Lebanon. Working with the Israelis, the C.I.A. used a car bomb kill to Mr. Mugniyah as he walked home in Damascus, where Hezbollah enjoys strong ties with and support from the Syrian government.
    At the same time, Mr. D’Andrea was ramping up the drone program inside Pakistan. Drones became the preferred counterterrorism tool of President Barack Obama, who personally approved strikes targeting militant leaders.
    When Mr. D’Andrea took over as the counterterrorism chief, only a handful of the agency’s drones were operational in Pakistan, and there were only three strikes that year, according to the Long War Journal, which keeps a tally of drone activity. By 2010, when the drone campaign was at its height, the agency launched 117 strikes against Qaeda militants and other jihadists sheltering in the mountainous tribal areas that run along Pakistan’s northwestern border with Afghanistan.
    The agency also expanded its drone program to Yemen under Mr. D’Andrea’s direction, and many in the C.I.A. credit him with playing an instrumental role in impairing Al Qaeda.
    But there were also setbacks. Mr. D’Andrea was at the helm when a C.I.A. source secretly working for Al Qaeda blew himself up at an American base in Afghanistan, killing seven agency operatives. It was the single deadliest attack on C.I.A. personnel in more than a quarter-century.
    And in January 2015, a drone struck a Qaeda compound in Pakistan where, unbeknown to the C.I.A., the militants were holding two hostages: Warren Weinstein, an American aid worker and economic adviser, and Giovanni Lo Porto, 37, an Italian. Both men were killed in the strike.
    A few months later, Mr. D’Andrea moved to a new post reviewing the effectiveness of covert action programs.
    Former agency officials said Mr. D’Andrea’s new job overseeing Iran operations was better suited to his talents.
    Can’t find it now.
    Besides being a religious Zionist Jew, Cohen-Watnick is a member of the Union League of Philadelphia, a Republican-leaning Patriotic Society.
    The Union League of Philadelphia, founded in 1862 as a Patriotic Society to support the policies of Abraham Lincoln, is today a private members-only club.
    Founded by a Unionist City of Philadelphia society, it remains a bastion of the elite; among its 3,300 members are leaders in business, academia, law, medicine, politics, religion and the arts.
    The Union League of Philadelphia is the oldest and most prominent of the remaining loyalty leagues. Founded in 1862 as a patriotic society to support the Union and the policies of President Abraham Lincoln, it laid the philosophical foundation of other Union Leagues across a nation torn by Civil War, particularly in the South.
    Southern Unionists established their own Union League secret societies in the former Confederate states. The Union Leagues were both the political partisan extension and clandestine vigilante enforcers of the civilian/federal military occupation of the South during the notoriously criminal and corrupt Radical Republican Reconstruction Era. The highly partisan Union Leagues were the despised “Scalawags” (Southern Unionists) who worked hand in hand with the “Carpetbaggers”.
    A Carpetbagger (in the US) a person from the North who went to the South after the Civil War to profit from the Reconstruction as either a political candidate who seeks election in an area where they have no local connections, or a person perceived as an unscrupulous opportunist, or both. Many white Southerners denounced them fearing they would loot and plunder the defeated South and be politically allied with the Radical Republicans–which they did under the color of law.
    Initiatives such as the Southern Homestead Act, Sherman’s field orders, and Reconstruction-era legislation by Radical Republicans aimed to strip the land, assets, and voting rights of Southerners believed to have supported the Confederates during the war.
    Although the stated purpose of these initiatives was to empower freedmen politically and economically, many carpetbaggers were businessmen who purchased or leased plantations. They became wealthy landowners, hiring freedmen and white Southerners to do the labor through the development of sharecropping.
    The Union League of Philadelphia has given loyal support to the American military in all conflicts since. Its motto is “Love of Country Leads.”
    On the subject of “slavery” some things never change.
    A Chabad rabbi in my area employs a black maid/housekeeper/shabbos goy (not that there’s anything wrong with that. . .).
    While he’s doing a great mitzvah, she gets to do a lot of fun things each shabbat. I’m kinda jealous. Maybe someday she’ll convert and make aliyah to Eretz Israel. Only, from what I read and understand, the government (Bibi) pays good money to emigres of a certain persuasion to leave! A conundrum. Sigh. . .
    Praying for you always, Brother Nathanael and will continue to support as the Good Lord wills. May God Bless You, richly.
    The American Conservative: Confederate History Is American History
    New Orleans shouldn’t have removed its Robert E. Lee statue.
    “These statues are not just stone and metal. They are not just innocent remembrances of a benign history. These monuments purposefully celebrate a fictional, sanitized Confederacy; ignoring the death, ignoring the enslavement, and the terror that it actually stood for.
    “After the Civil War, these statues were a part of that terrorism as much as a burning cross on someone’s lawn; they were erected purposefully to send a strong message to all who walked in their shadows about who was still in charge in this city.”
    So said New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu on his city’s removal from Lee Circle of its statue of Robert E. Lee, the last remaining of four New Orleans’ statues long ago erected in honor of the city’s Confederate past.
    One suspects that if terrorism really resulted in the building of statues, the British would not presently be patrolling the streets of London with machine guns and armored vehicles. Combined with Landrieu’s complaint that no one had ever built a monument to a slave ship, one also suspects that the mayor has as little understanding of the purpose of statues as he does of the tactics of terrorism.
    Had Southerners so admired it, they could presumably have somewhere erected a monument to slavery: a pair of shackles forged of iron, perhaps even a slave ship, as Landrieu now seems to be suggesting. If they had intended their statuary to be a symbol of terrorism “as much as burning a cross on someone’s lawn”, the simplest choice would have been to erect a statue of a burning cross.
    Indeed, had Southerners anywhere raised monuments to slavery or to the terrorism of the Klan, they would have been rightly condemned for doing so. Instead, in an odd twist, if any society seems poised to build monuments to slavery or memorials to the era of burning crosses, it would be ours, obsessed as we are with systems and institutions, with slavery and oppression.
    But Southerners did not build monuments to slave ships any more than they built monuments to terrorism or slavery, for the same reason that professional basketball teams today dedicate statues to men like Bill Russell and Michael Jordan while no one cares to commemorate the three-point shot or erect monuments to the injustice of technical fouls.
    People build monuments to great men and heroic deeds, not to hierarchical social structures or demeaning systems of labor.
    Questioned as to why he kept a portrait of Lee in his office, President Dwight D. Eisenhower stated that, “From deep conviction, I simply say this: a nation of men of Lee’s calibre would be unconquerable in spirit and soul.
    “Indeed, to the degree that present-day American youth will strive to emulate his rare qualities, including his devotion to this land as revealed in his painstaking efforts to help heal the Nation’s wounds once the bitter struggle was over, we, in our own time of danger in a divided world, will be strengthened and our love of freedom sustained. Such are the reasons that I proudly display the picture of this great American on my office wall.”
    Lee has long been honored by North and South for the same reasons: because he was one of the best men America has ever produced, and because his character was confirmed by the crucible that most proves a man: the crucible of battle.
    This mutual recognition of Lee was true from the very beginning, with Union General Joshua Chamberlain ordering his men to salute Lee’s surrendering army at Appomattox. It was, Chamberlain said, “Honor answering honor.”
    “Under a pious predilection to those ancestors,” said British statesman Edmund Burke, “your imaginations would have realized in them a standard of virtue and wisdom, beyond the vulgar practice of the hour: and you would have risen with the example to whose imitation you aspired. Respecting your forefathers, you would have been taught to respect yourselves.”
    History may for historians be an impartial search for truth, a neutral standard used to measure every figure. For nations and peoples, however, history can never be a neutral endeavor. It is a search for the best of our very own because it can help bring out the best in the rest of us.
    We respect our greatest ancestors because they teach us to respect ourselves and our potential, because their best traits become for us a standard of virtue and wisdom for imitation. We don’t erect statues to common men, because we would never stop building; or to ships and institutions, because there is nothing there to emulate; or to sinless men, because we would never have anything to build.
    The most salient point of these memorials, though, is not the purpose for which they were erected, but the identity of those who erected them, not only in New Orleans, but everywhere else around the country: they were raised not by the citizens of the Confederacy during its brief existence in the 1860s, but by citizens of the United States ever since.
    The Hebrew prophets of old condemned the rich and powerful of their own time, putting themselves and their lives at risk.
    The moralizers of today, on the other hand, love to attack the Confederacy, a dead and defenseless thing and no threat at all to anyone. Even so, and perhaps without even realizing it, the attack on the Confederate States seamlessly shifts into an attack on the legitimacy of the United States as well.
    For the statue of Lee in New Orleans wasn’t dedicated by citizens of the Confederacy during its brief existence in the 1860s, but by the will of American citizens on the occasion of Washington’s birthday in 1884. The statue of Lee that now stands in Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capitol was raised by American citizens in the 1900s.
    The statue of Lee on his horse at Lee Park in Charlottesville was chiseled by Americans in the 1920s. A portrait of Lee hung in the Oval Office thanks to President Eisenhower in 1960. Lee’s American citizenship was restored by a 407-10 vote of the U.S. Congress and signed by President Ford in 1975.
    Whatever the taint of the Confederacy, the taint of the monuments to its men and memory lies with this country, with the United States, with us, and not to a different country from the distant past.
    Indeed, Landrieu noted that New Orleans was “America’s” largest slave market; that “America” was “the place where nearly 4,000 of our fellow citizens were lynched”; that American courts “enshrined ‘separate but equal’.” In Landrieu’s public charge of slavery and white supremacy, the sole defendant isn’t only the Confederacy; it is a multi-count indictment in which the United States is co-conspirator.
    Once the Confederate heroes have been declared anathema, is there any hope for the America that has since honored their memory? When Mayor Landrieu tells us that Lee’s statue was a form of “terrorism,” an intended reminder of “who was still in charge,” then doesn’t the nation that honored him become anathema, too? How else does heresy work?
    Forget Confederate General Robert E. Lee of the 1860s. What place can there be for the American presidents Dwight Eisenhower and Gerald Ford, who praised him in the 1960s and 70s? Forget Confederate president Jefferson Davis. What place can there be for the American president Jimmy Carter, who in 1978 honored him and restored his American citizenship?
    Indeed, when former president Andrew Jackson was recently praised by the current president of the United States, the backlash against Jackson’s status as a slaveholder and Indian fighter was nearly universal, and the condemnation of both presidents crossed two centuries.
    How long can it be before the victor of the Battle of New Orleans sees his statute come down in that city? And when it does, won’t the United States of 2017 and the president it elected be found complicit as well?
    Despite Landrieu’s complaint that, “Centuries old wounds are still raw because they never healed right in the first place,” the statue he just tore down was an example of deep and old wounds that had healed just fine. Honoring the heroes and the war dead of the Confederacy was for our nation a symbol of American reconciliation, part of the basis for the nation that we had again become. It was proof of our nationhood that we could slaughter each other across gruesome battlefields and again shake hands as brothers.
    Today’s iconoclasm proves only national disintegration, that even in our imaginations we cannot shake hands across time with our own ancestors, that the magnanimous peace forged by the Civil War combatants has been disregarded, and that now both North and South are being routed and forced to flee from the battlefield.
    Landrieu listed all the old inhabitants of New Orleans:
    . . . . the Choctaw, Houma Nation, the Chitimacha . . . . Hernando de Soto, Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, the Acadians, the Islenos, the enslaved people from Senegambia, Free People of Color, the Haitians, the Germans, both the empires of France and Spain. The Italians, the Irish, the Cubans, the south and central Americans, the Vietnamese . . . .
    It was as if he were running through the roll call of the General Assembly of the United Nations, but many of them posed in some way or another a mortal threat to New Orleans’ status as an American city.
    What made New Orleans part of the United States was that the English-speaking peoples conquered or assimilated all the rest of them, imposing on them their language and their laws, their political institutions and their national allegiances.
    We have been schooled to recognize the blessings of our geography, of the two oceans that have shielded us from the trials and tribulations of the Old World. But we for some reason forget that the near unquestioned peace we inherited came to us only because our victories in the wars of the 18th and 19th centuries cleared the field of our competitors.
    Our statues do indeed tell us who is in charge of a city. For 130 years, the statues of Lee and other Confederates have been the statues of Southern reconciliation. They told the people of New Orleans that they belonged to a United States into which had been folded the sacrifices and greatness of Southerners past and present.
    In a larger sense, the New Orleans monuments to men like Lee (and Jackson) were monuments to the shared nationhood of the men who created a nation and conquered a continent, and tearing them down is today an aftershock of a revolution in identity and has always in history been a symbol of the seizure of power.
    Whatever the stated intention, the fact that Lee has come down—and that Jackson, we must all recognize by now, cannot be far behind—is a testament to the fact that the old battles for control of North America are starting to be waged all over again.
